### 4/5 — One of the best but expensive

*2020-07-25, version 3.08*

This app is very complete. It includes the clock, which is nice but could be optional. With so many other chess apps available, I suspect that very few people are willing to spend $25 to activate all the lessons.

### 4/5 — Cool!

*2014-12-01, version 2.97*

Good app, good content. Purchase content in bulk; it's addictive but very helpful.

### 3/5 — Love it every time you fix it don't work. Now it just quits after the up date crash city

*2014-08-26, version 2.93*

The program is an overall good program that will help train your eyes to watch the whole board and also helps you remember a certain tactical ideas and combinations so in all it's a very good program to use for training

### 3/5 — Pretty good app, just empty

*2014-01-18, version 2.5*

The app has great info and has good examples and step by step stuff. You scroll through moves and it explains each one But leaves you hanging as a lot is "coming soon" for the past year.

### 4/5 — Great chess app to learn fundamentals and tactics

*2013-07-26, version 2.3*

Great app to learn chess. Explains rules, theories, openings, middle games, end gams, tactics and more to learn the game. Gives you a hands-on experience to teach you the concepts given and does a great job explaining how to apply the concepts. I have already made a few purchases to extend the content. However, $22 to unlock all of the content seems pretty steep. I think $10 to unlock all of the content at once would be fair.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2013-06-01, version 2.3*

Extremely helpful and interactive! Now I know how to play chess!

### 3/5 — In app purchased packs vanished after the upgrade. How to get it back ???

*2013-02-06, version 2.0*

I had purchased In App Packs.....After the app upgrade...those purchased packs did not show up. Please fix the issue...

### 5/5 — Rated

*2013-01-22, version 2.0*

This is the best chess app I own. Wish it was available on my Samsung galaxy tab too. Hope the d4 openings come out soon under the new Learn tab.

### 3/5 — Waoooo

*2013-01-10, version 2.0*

Really love this app. I will recommend it anytime, every time. My only problem is that I find it difficult t buy the new lessons that came with the December update.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2012-06-29, version 1.3.3*

Definitely helps playing skills of the novice.

### 2/5 — Tons of potential but bugs

*2012-05-09, version 1.3.3*

The app has the ability to be fantastic!! But it has a lot of bugs for now.. Pieces on board when there are not supposed to be .. Or no pieces on board at all .. I hope they get a patch out soon I've got a couple paid upgrades that are awesome!!!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2016-08-13, version 3.02*

It doesn't even explain anything. It just plops you right into a game you know nothing a bout. So stupid.

### 1/5 — New update is very bad.

*2014-08-25, version 2.93*

First off, I love this app. Great puzzles by category and fantastic interactive lessons. New update requires an email or Facebook account, which I think should be optional. Also, it crashed immediately when I choose the email option. After deleting the app and reinstalling it, I could finally sign in. But the app crashes when I try to view the new lesson that was added. Whoever came up with this update should admit they made a mistake and fix it ASAP. NO MANDATORY EMAIL.

### 1/5 — Bad bad bad

*2014-08-24, version 2.93*

I've spent good money on this and they changed it to MANDATORY must give an email address to use the app you already bought and pride for. Which is bad enough bit it CRASHES AFTER you type in all the info. Bad bad bad. Pathetic QA. Stay away.

### 1/5 — Crash crash

*2014-08-23, version 2.93*

Latest update just crashes immediately after signing in. Also why do I have to sign in. Please fix this.

### 1/5 — Solid App.

*2013-04-01, version 2.2*

Good app until the last update ruined it. All it does now is crash. After a single chess problem! Not sure why it hasn't been fixed, but until it is, it is like buying something that is broken.

### 1/5 — Money hungry?

*2013-03-22, version 2.1*

I was looking forward to learning a bunch of new things about chess until I learned that you only get the first lesson in each section. The rest of the lessons cost a dollar. They should've just made the app cost $1, instead of taunting you with the idea that it's free. Very disappointed with this app and about to delete it.

### 1/5 — Sloppy programming and poor design

*2012-07-21, version 1.3.3*

This app is loaded with bugs. It will give you a blank board sometimes and force you to resign. There are frequently multiple winning lines, but you get a huge penalty for picking the wrong winning move. Several times I've broken 2000 where you're getting 3 points for a solution, and been met with a blank board costing me 34-45 points. DO NOT BUY THIS APP! I've had it for months and they still haven't fixed it.

### 1/5 — Do not use. Will make you more dumb.

*2012-07-18, version 1.3.3*

I give this App zero stars it's not even worth one star. However they make you pick at least one. It wasn't even worth the ten mins it took me to complete it. There are very severe bugs in this app. Many of the solutions have multiple ways of solving in equal or less moves while better protecting your pieces. Multiple scenarios give you mate where the king or other pieces can easily block or defend and change the tide against the attacker drastically. Do not use this if you are a novice, want to improve, or just want interesting scenarios. This is a very sloppy and poor excuse for a chess app.

### 1/5 — Very disappointed , hidden fees

*2012-03-27, version 1.3.3*

Don't be fooled , the app only comes with 50 easy problems. You will have to purchase the each additional pack. Not worth the price, will be $30 - $40 before you are done.

### 1/5 — Current version crashes

*2011-12-19, version 1.3*

I loved using this app, however the current version will not load on my phone. It crashes immediately.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — excellent

*2016-05-28, version 3.01*

i like playying chess, this is a fun game.A good application.

### 5/5 — Good work

*2016-04-09, version 3.00*

uh , tremendous work has been done by developers . it's really cool . I installed this app for the younger brother , I hope this will help him to learn to play .

### 5/5 — CoreGamer

*2016-04-03, version 3.00*

Amazing app i am improving my chess skills day by day with the help of this app. <3

### 5/5 — Great chess puzzle game

*2016-03-27, version 3.00*

I'm improving my knowledge to best performance on chess. Very easy to understand

### 5/5 — Chess trainer

*2014-10-30, version 2.97*

It's a very good app to train, I like it.

### 5/5 — Chess Trainer

*2014-09-08, version 2.94*

I love this app because it has excellent tactics in different areas that has helped me to develop a keen eye to recognize tactical solutions to different problems. The trick is to go over them constantly until it becomes part of you.

The lessons are another plus because they are tailored for the club player. It is helping me to look at the board from the perspective of an expert. I'm also learning to play with a plan, but it is important to repeat the lessons as often as possible in order to understand some of the complexities of chess positions.

On the other hand, I would love to see an improvement in the quality of the boards and have the ability to choose different kind of pieces.

By the way, the prices for different packages are very reasonable.

### 5/5 — Great chess but lacks function

*2014-08-23, version 2.93*

Lost all my puzzle progress on update :(. I do not really want to redo hundreds of puzzles I've already done. Needs a way to browse the puzzles and review previously solved ones. Despite that there is a lot of concise delicious chess learning here.

### 5/5 — Great app but 2 requests

*2014-08-14, version 2.92*

This app is great but neglects the defensive side of chess. I would love to see 4 play modules added. Some with simple defense problems where a piece is threatened, and others with advanced threat problems, that address not just threat of mate, but more complex loss of material as well. This is a great app as is, but would be the best available if it addressed the defensive side of chess with about 600 defense puzzles.

### 5/5 — It has everything

*2014-05-18, version 2.9*

A bunch of opening, middlegame, and endgame puzzles, as well as mini-tutorials that focus on various aspects of the game. A good deal of fun.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2014-03-02, version 2.7*

I'm pretty new and this helps.
