“A fun and simple way to build an opening repertoire based on probabilities of most likely lines. You will actually learn the moves that will happen on the board!”
—Grandmaster Eugene Perelshteyn

FIND THE GAPS IN YOUR REPERTOIRE BEFORE YOUR OPPONENTS DO
Chessbook calculates your coverage per opening so you always know what to work on.

PICK THE BEST MOVES TO MAXIMIZE YOUR WIN-RATE
Weigh up your options by looking at stats from master games, engine evaluation and results at your level.

ONLY SPEND TIME ON THE MOVES YOU'LL ACTUALLY SEE
Most books and courses are written by masters for masters. Chessbook lets you avoid obscure grandmaster lines and focus your effort on the moves that are common at your level.

TARGETED PRACTICE MEANS YOU'LL NEVER FORGET A MOVE
Chessbook uses spaced repetition, a scientifically proven technique to memorize openings quickly and thoroughly.

COLLECT ALL YOUR OPENINGS IN ONE PLACE
Nobody gets their whole repertoire from a single course or book. Chessbook lets you combine openings from multiple sources to create a custom repertoire just for you.

REVIEW YOUR ONLINE GAMES FOR OPENING MISTAKES
Get instant feedback on how well you're sticking to your repertoire. Chessbook supports both Lichess and Chess.com

LEARN MIDDLEGAME PLANS FOR ANY OPENING
See how top players handle the positions that result from the openings you play.

### 5/5 — Very Cool

*2026-08-27*

I bought a chess book but i am the kind of person who prefers intuitive and appealing ways of learning, this is very nice

### 5/5 — Great for beginners

*2026-08-25*

If you just want to have 1-2 openings in your repertoire and want to practice them thoroughly, this is a great way to do it. The space repetitions and practice are amazing.

### 5/5 — Can’t believe this is free

*2026-08-04, version 1.3.31*

I was searching for so long a good app or website to practice openings and I always herd people saying chessreps or chessable, but they are actually bad and not for people who want to learn an opening they already chose. Even though I know there is a limit to the free version, I haven’t seen a single paywall or ad since I use it. The way you can add moves is very good with nice insights, though the rest of the app may not be very intuitive (you get used to it after like a day so its not that bad). The only thing i can criticize is that there is no no-wifi mode to practice, which I think could be a great and easy addition

### 5/5 — Good Stuff

*2026-08-04, version 1.3.31*

Works!

### 5/5 — Really awesome

*2026-07-30, version 1.3.31*

Just a really cool and awesome way to help you learn and expand your opening repertoire

### 3/5 — OK

*2026-07-30, version 1.3.31*

Seems like an okay chess app, it’s cool how they show you the mistakes from your games. UI is horrendous though

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-07-29, version 1.3.31*

Nice app that works as a really good companion to chess.com. I’ve not paid to upgrade anything on this app so consider me an unpaid review. I’m not even sure what the premium features do but I imagine they’re worth it, because the features the app provides simply for free is amazing!

My favorite thing is how it can show you moves / openings and you can try and create plans for when opponents move their pieces in different ways. I love how it connects with chess.com and shows me opening mistakes I had made! 5/5

### 4/5 — Pretty good, not perfect

*2026-07-22, version 1.3.31*

I was very excited when I started using this app, got a year subscription. Now after a week or so of use I see it has warts but hey nothing is perfect. It works, and lets you build repertoires in the best way I've seen of any app. There are a few bugs and the support staff are not fast to answer questions, so don't expect much support, but all in all, "it's better than bad, it's good!"

### 4/5 — Great app, but buggy

*2026-07-18, version 1.3.31*

Says “failed to import lichess study when I try to import a study”

### 4/5 — Instructions on how to use the app should be better

*2026-07-17, version 1.3.31*

I can’t figure out how to practice my openings properly and the app has no explanation, it’s like you just have to know how to use it. When you are practicing you have to move the pieces to specific spots first before you go through any line or something. I wish it was more clear how to use the app. It could’ve been a 5 starts but this should be better
