## What is Chessling?

Chessling is a chess app built only for kids — a bright, ad-free story world where every lesson is a game, not a worksheet.

Every child gets their own Park Corner: a small patch of the park to decorate with what they earn, a Sparkle Machine that lights up one charm per island won, and a shelf that shows what is coming next.

WHAT YOUR CHILD LEARNS
Chessling teaches real chess, one small idea at a time: how each piece moves, spotting a fork or a pin, castling, delivering checkmate — through 106 short story lessons ("Rides") across 8 candy-themed islands, each with its own animal keeper and a Boss Show at the end. No lesson ever says "wrong" — a missed move just wiggles and tries again. Big, forgiving tap targets and on-screen board animation mean a five-year-old who can't read yet can still play and learn.

Beyond the story, Chessling keeps teaching for months: a 20-rung Champions Ladder of bots that get gradually tougher, 41,000+ puzzles from the public Lichess puzzle database plus 1,800 original beginner puzzles (so a kid doing ten a day never runs out), and a daily "Daily Ten" habit that fills a streak flame — one that pauses on a missed day rather than punishing your child by resetting.

Every win earns Sparkle, stars, and Sweet Coins to decorate a Park Corner and dress up an avatar — never a currency you can buy with real money, and nothing that expires.

WHAT PARENTS CAN TRUST
• No ads, anywhere, ever.
• No third-party analytics or tracking — none are in the app.
• No accounts, no sign-in, no chat, no strangers. Chessling never asks your child for a name, photo, or email.
• Every purchase, external link, and grown-up setting sits behind a parental gate (a math question or a hold-both-corners gesture).
• Progress lives only on your child's device — we don't run a server, so there's nothing of your child's to lose, sell, or leak.
• One purchase, never a subscription: "Open the Whole Park" is a single one-time unlock (Family Sharing supported) for the remaining six islands, the rest of the Champions Ladder, and every pack, forever. Right now it’s at a reduced launch price. Islands 1–2, the Daily Ten, and ladder rungs 1–8 are free forever, no purchase needed to try Chessling for real.

MADE FOR AGES 6–8 (AND UP)
Younger kids lean on Sage the Owl's coaching, big buttons, and board animation to play without reading a word. Older kids get real tactics — forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks — and full games with real endgame technique in the later islands. Celebrations and sounds have reduced-motion and muted variants, and every square, piece, and button is labeled for VoiceOver.

THE STORY
Sugarpark is a candy theme park that runs on Sparkle — made only when a kid plays a clever chess move. The Sour Jester has unplugged the Sparkle Machine and scattered its eight Charms across the park's eight islands. With Pip the Fox at their side, your child wins back each island, one keeper and one Boss Show at a time, and re-lights Sugarpark for good — right down to a twist ending that rewards kindness over beating the bad guy.

No ads. No subscription. No tracking. Just a whole park of chess, waiting to be re-lit.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.2 — 2026-10-01

New in 1.3.2:
• VoiceOver now reads the question cards more clearly, including the shield and "What did their move aim at?" cards.
• The Ladder shows more honest strengths for the toughest friends, near the top.
• Small fixes and polish.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-09-26

New in 1.3.1:
• The board stays still — hints, questions and Sage's lines no longer nudge it up and down.
• Grown-ups can turn off "What did their move aim at?" questions in the Parent Corner, and kids can skip them for one game.
• Checkmate Practice — if the king keeps slipping away into a draw, Sage cheers you on and you try again.
• Small fixes and polish.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-24

New in 1.3:
- Learn from your own games — try your trickiest moment again, and Sage helps you name what happened.
- Practice that fits you — the next day's puzzles focus on the moments you found tricky.
- A smarter move helper — instead of just warning you, Sage asks you to spot the danger yourself, then steps back as you get better.
- What did their move aim at? — Sage helps you watch the other player's plans.
- Checkmate Practice on Island 8 — learn to catch a king that runs away.
- For grown-ups: one simple question to ask tonight, in the Parent Corner.
- Music now starts off, and plays softer when you turn it on.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-19

The Play tab brings every way to play into one place, and the Champions Ladder now shows
exactly where your child stands: a marker for their level, a flag for every climb, and a
medal for each band they finish.

Their park grows with them — new plots open up as the shelf fills, so an earned decoration
always has somewhere to go. iPad gets a proper layout, the Sparkle Machine got its charms
back where they belong, and dozens of screens were reworked to be kinder to young eyes.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-09

A fresh look for the chess pieces! Clean, bold shapes that are easier for young eyes to tell apart at a glance, on every board style.
