### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-10-26*

5/5 hands down just because gothamchess made it is 10/5!!! App version is a great upgrade from the web version

### 5/5 — Please add an offline mode

*2026-10-23*

I would love to learn while travelling where internet is not always available or stable. If you could consider adding an offline mode, this would make this app even more useful.

### 5/5 — Geilo

### 5/5 — Great app for chess openings and appropriate gamification!

*2026-10-20*

Chessly is a great app with a very extensive Repertoire for Chess openings and with that I can complete my gaps in some less popular openings. A point of concern is, that most repertoires are not deep enough. I sometimes encounter variants which are not covered by chessly. Still it is perfect for having a rough idea of what moves should be played, due to adequat explanation in the videos and studies and not only learning the perfect moves order. An advantage of this app is, that it is gamified which raises interests in events and learning to maintain the streak or to catch up with the xp for the competitive leagues. I personally believe that this app is worth your money if you have general lacks in your openings and have some gamification. The app is still improving so I have some suggestions: 1. The drills should recognize if I am changing move orders which has little impact on the variation. It should be noticed as „possible alternative“ like Chessable.
2. XP farming should be forbidden. Some people are (I am not 100% sure) farming XP by repeting 1-2 variations over and over again, which is not the purpose of this app. Maybe XP could be reduced after repeting IDK 3 times or something.
3. A section for watching Levi‘s Videos in the app would also be a great addition as well
I once suggest on the website a daily free lesson for everyone to maintain the streak if one is busy and now it really is in part of chessly! In addition, a mistake which I have revealed has also been fixed. :)
All in all, great app, keep it up!

### 5/5 — Great job on the app!

*2026-10-20*

I’ve been waiting for this app to drop ever since I discovered Chessly. Happy to see it’s out, it works great, and I’m looking forward to all the features to come!

### 5/5 — Good add

*2026-10-19*

Well designed, easy to use with all the tools available from the original web site ! Way better the safari for iPhone

### 1/5 — Free Trial is Broken

*2026-10-27*

I signed up for the seven-day free trial. When I tried to view the first lesson, it prompted me to pay instead. When I didn’t, it said my free trial expired, even though I had just signed up a few minutes earlier. So I couldn’t even view a single lesson, and I signed up for nothing.

### 3/5 — Functional but Lacking

*2026-10-27*

I am a big fan of Chessly. It has done wonders for my opening prep, and to some extent my middlegame and endgame skills…

When I saw this app was finally released for mobile I was extremely hopeful that I would gain some new features, or that some of the long awaited courses like The French would finally arrive.

Sad face for both.

But if you ask me what Chessly really needs it’s this.

An offline feature. This app is essentially a wrapper, a web application that directly links back to the Chessly web page. Why make something I can just run by opening a browser?

Actually there is a benefit to this. I can lock down my browser but permit the app one less distraction…

But what I really want is what Chessable and ChessPrep Pro give me. The ability to download (even if it’s encrypted and closed off from export) the ability to drill and learn my course even when I’m disconnected from the web.

I know those are premium features for Chessable, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be a feature. I would even consider purchasing an extra feature if this were included. Chessable separates those features from courses it’s something Chessly should consider as well.

Add that feature. Even as an add on premium cost and you will get both 5 stars and my $.

### 4/5 — Good

*2026-10-27*

Much needed replacement for web app. Already a smoother experience for sacrificing rooks.

### 4/5 — Perfect but one thing missing

*2026-10-23*

Yo, loved the chess coursee online. Now we got the app. Its perfect but there is one thing missing, looking forward to hopefully getting this soon.
I mean the option to play the bot with the courses i learned. For me the best feature in the classes to really study the moves and connect them further.
Just one more thing to say: theeeee rooook!

### 5/5 — I won the workplace competition!

*2026-10-29*

This app helped hone me from 850-1250 in a short amount of time. I had so little confidence playing as black but now I know an opening or two that doesn’t immediately cost me the game. Onwards and upwards. Thanks Levi and team.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-10-28*

Perfect for practicing during breaks in the day

### 5/5 — Great stuff

*2026-10-28*

Works just like the website.

### 5/5 — This app is awesome!!!!

*2026-10-28*

Been dreaming of this app! Chess has taken me out of hard mental places. Thank you for providing this hub!

### 5/5 — Great app, actually boosts ELO

*2026-10-27*

Chessly is easy, simple and fun to use. Fair pricing and clean layout. The videos are great.

I’d like to see a D4 course, as well as a Catalan.

One slight drawback is that sometimes the lines in the studies aren’t encountered by your rating. E.g. in the bird, so many people at my blitz rating (1100) play the French. But it’s not featured. It would be nice to request a sideline, or to have a forum element where you can discuss the lines.

Other then that, very exciting to have this app finally!

### 5/5 — FINALLY

*2026-10-27*

Amazing! I’ve been waiting for this as an app forever, thanks for making it!

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Been waiting for this one

*2026-10-27*

I bought a chessly subscription back when it first dropped. I really enjoyed it but apps are so much more convenient than a website. So far it seems like the app runs very smoothly and it’s cool that even though my subscriptions not active you can still get one free lesson a day

### 5/5 — Free trial?

*2026-10-27*

Why did my free trial instantly expire? It said one-week free trial when I downloaded the app and logged into Chessly for the first time (I saw the promotion in the latest YouTube video). But immediately after registering my account and trying to start a course, I was alerted that my free trial ended.

### 5/5 — Good job can’t wait for more to come!!

*2026-10-26*

So far so good easy to navigate along with doing drills and courses.

### 5/5 — Congrats Levy!

*2026-10-26*

Been watching for years, this is a long time coming.
