Make it simpler. The boards good though. ### 3/5 — Very buggy *2026-04-11* The game history feature frequently fails to import and remember my games when I am trying to analyze, and whenever I open the app, my phone haptics go insane. It also didn’t allow me to log in to my account so I had to create a new one. The in-app game analysis takes forever to load and half the time doesn’t even remember the entire game. **Developer response:** Sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you. We definitely want to fix and make your experience better. Are you using a ChessUp 1 board? Did you turn off haptics in general settings? What is the email you use for the chessup app login? When you say it doesn't remember your entire game what do you mean? Again Sorry for the inconvenience we are working continuously to improve your experience. ### 2/5 — Way too many bugs *2026-04-06, version 3.1.11* To learn from my games I find it absolutely essential to go through the moves and also play out alternatives from certain positions. Unfortunately the analysis mode is super buggy and gets confused quickly to a point where you have to kill the app. The analysis also takes quite some time and is not saved so that you have to wait again. I finally got in but I still get booted and can’t start a game on chess.com. I have followed instructions perfectly yet I keep finding myself in the sign in loop. When I finally get signed in to play a match, I suddenly have to connect to chess.com again. Just an overpriced chessboard. ### 1/5 — Buggy App, Login issues, App not responsive to input, App freezes, Does not support Horizontal Mode *2026-02-25* This is a very poorly designed chess app. The ChessUp board is nice, but this App does not match the same quality as the board. As a programmer, I think I could develop a much better and more robust app than whoever made this poorly designed, laggy, unresponsive app. Logging in doesn’t work most of the time. You will get a technical difficulties pop up when trying to log in. Some parts of the UI are just not that responsive. When I click a button, it doesn’t register and nothing happens. The App doesn’t support horizontal mode. Why should an iPad always be in Vertical mode and not horizontal mode too? Also, the app has freezed on me numerous times, and made me force quit it to resolve it. **Developer response:** Sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you. We definitely want to fix and make your experience better. Have you downloaded the latest version of the App? I have been a sporadic player on chess.com using the electronic board on the app. Though I’ve only played with the bots on chessup, playing on the full board is more enjoyable. I look forward to helping teach my grandchildren when they are a bit older (eg turning 4).
