## What is Chiku?

chiku the dog wants to cook something new every day. Help chiku shop at the market, fill the fridge, and cook the dish, one step at a time.

Along the way, meet foods from all over the world. Where does a mango grow? What is okra called in other languages? What can a banana become? Every food has a little story, and every dish you cook goes into your recipe book.

HOW IT PLAYS
Tap a food at the market, spell its name with letter tiles (free hints, or skip), and it hops into your basket. Drag it into the fridge. Drag it into the pot. Rub, chop, stir, and a dish appears on the table. At the end of the day, pull the light string and chiku goes to sleep. Tomorrow brings a new day and a new wish.

MADE FOR PLAYING TOGETHER
Everything is tapping and dragging, with chiku showing the way. Grown ups can read along and play too. Food names and chiku's short lines are spoken aloud, and there is a how to play page just for you in the grown ups corner.

CALM BY DESIGN
No ads. Ever. No account, no email, no password. No streaks, no timers, no scores, no pressure. Your game stays on your phone. Purchases go through the app store. A calm mode stills every animation. Chiku never gives food, health, or safety advice. The recipes in the book are for a grown up to cook with you, and the knife, stove and hot steps are marked for grown ups.

THE KITCHEN PASS (optional)
The first stalls and foods are free. The kitchen pass opens every stall and every new food as they come. Pay once and it is yours for good, or subscribe monthly or yearly. All of them open the same things. Buying always sits behind a grown up question.

IF YOU USED THE FRIDGE APP
If you used Chiku: Fridge Detective before, your fridge is still here, under grown ups.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1.1 — 2026-11-04

chiku opens again on the newest iOS. a new icon, closer to chiku's face, and lots of little fixes.

### 2.1 — 2026-11-03

chiku’s wish shows first every morning, each dish cooks its own way, and every screen glows the way on. smoother on small phones, darker at night, and lots of little fixes.

### 2.0 — 2026-10-30

chiku's kitchen is now a game.

Shop at a market of stalls, fill the fridge, and cook the day's dish with chiku the dog. Meet foods from all over the world, collect the dishes in your recipe book, and say goodnight when the day is done.

Your fridge list from before is still here, under grown ups.

### 1.2 — 2026-08-28

chiku got better at the quiet parts.

Paying for the detective's kit now finishes properly. If your payment method confirms after you close the app, the kit still lands, and if you already paid you will see it the moment you open chiku.

The log is rebuilt. Every rescue carries its date, months are grouped so a long log has shape, and three honest numbers replace the single score. There is a real empty state now that says what the page is for.

"later today" joins the whisper times, for food you cooked at lunch and want a nudge about at dinner.

Settings has its own place in the bar. The kit explains what you get before it ever mentions a price.

The reminder screens now match the rest of the app, and one button there that looked like plain text is a button again.

Steadier under the status bar and the gesture bar on newer phones.

### 1.1 — 2026-08-25

Hi, I'm Chiku. Version 1 came out, but I wasn't happy. I found some bugs in the fridge. Then I cleaned them up... by eating them. Then I cleaned up the fridge more by eating everything. Now I'm ready for you to look in the fridge. Also, I made your fridge prettier and easier to navigate so you don't lose stuff or forget about stuff. And I added fixes to a lot of buttons that weren't working. What's the point of a fridge if the buttons don't work. I am the best detective.

(Chiku found lots of bugs and fixed them all. We're new here, so working through lots of initial bugs we aren't happy with. Chiku is helping.)
