I think this is a great concept for people that house had a rough ride financially that was an old you know like a lot of of us has made plenty of money in life, but didn’t have the discipline of learning how to separate bills from pleasure over spending and learning how to put some of your asses into reserve so that even if you do hit a brick wall, you remember that OK I have something put away that you totally forgot about and when you do need it sent for you whether it be $2500 or $5000. Do you have something set aside as a pillow and I think that this is a great system that level and mindset of thinking, I think it’s a great app for people who didn’t totally get the whole concept of financial planning to restart and learn how to do it all over again

Update: 6 months later I eventually was refunded my savings. It was a rough ride with lots of unkept promises from associates but eventually I received a full refund. It was difficult to get help because when you switch to credit builder money in your account appears as debt on your statement. Also, Chime is not a bank and is not FDIC insured. Read about the collapse of Yota for why this matters. I changed my review to two stars since I got the money back and because the app is useful, just be careful with credit builder. I’ve decided to primarily bank with a bank that is directly FDIC insured. 

Update: 30 days later and I still haven’t gotten a response or refund. Every time I call they say they’ll email me and that my issue will be escalated, but I’m still out almost $2000. Stay away from chime credit builder. 

Original review: Be careful of chime credit builder. After they promoted the service, I went for it. They sent me a card and moved all of my funds over onto the credit builder account. Several months later, I had over $1,700 in my account. Not debt, this was my money. Without notice they closed the account and kept the funds. I’ve been fighting with them for weeks to try to get the funds back, but they literally just zeroed out the account. When I called, they told me to contact an attorney. I contacted an attorney and he said to file a complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau. Upon review, the consumer financial protection bureau has gotten lots of complaints like this about chime. They close people’s accounts from the credit builder and then hold onto the money. If I ever get the money back, I’ll update my review, but it’s been pretty devastating for us financially.
