## What is Chinese Poker Showdown?

Chinese Poker — arrange thirteen cards into three poker hands and play them against three AI opponents. The classic open-face split-hand game, polished for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Your 13 cards go into a back row (five cards, must be the strongest), a middle row (five), and a front row (three, must be the weakest). At showdown you score row-by-row against each opponent — one point per row you win, plus a scoop bonus for winning all three rows against the same player. A "fouled" arrangement loses every comparison automatically.

Three AI opponents with distinct personalities:

• Awesomo — plays the mathematically optimal expected-value line. Use him as the yardstick.
• Bender — back-loading scoop chaser. Will sacrifice the front to stack a strong back and chase the +3 bonus.
• HAL — cautious pair-in-front specialist. Plays it safe and waits for your mistakes.

The bots are powered by a trained neural network — a tiny ~66 KB MLP that captures the win probability of every legal hand from billions of simulated games. Same gameplay strength as the classical 10 MB lookup table, twenty-five times smaller, no perceptible difference at the table.

Track your skill against the optimal play. The Player page also breaks out your record against each bot individually: wins, losses, ties, and cumulative net.

Features:
• Three distinct AI personalities, each producing visibly different play
• Skill scoring against the EV-optimal benchmark
• Per-opponent W/L/T history
• Optional hint button (off by default — flip it on in Settings if you
  want a nudge)
• Standard 1-6 + scoop scoring, with the scoop bonus adjustable from
  0 to 10
• Four-color or two-color card mode

Privacy:
No accounts. No analytics. No ads. No in-app purchases. No network
calls of any kind. Nothing leaves your device.

Free, full game.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-08-07

Higher quality audio, smaller download size and lower memory usage

### 1.2 — 2026-05-28

• Smarter AI — the bot now factors in the cards it knows you don't hold, giving sharper opinions in tight spots.
• Faster gameplay — meaningful speed-up on the bot's decision time, especially on older devices.
• New players get a friendly first 25 deals (more winnable hands) while they learn the game.
• Hint mode no longer counts toward your skill score — practice freely.
• Fixed: A-2-3-4-5 straight now displays with the Ace first.

### 1.1 — 2026-05-15

• New: smart card-completion hints. Place one card in a row and small previews of any flush, straight, full house, or set you could land appear above it. Tap the preview to drop the matching cards into the row.
• Smoother end-of-round transitions, especially on the bigger coin showers.
