## What is Chiru.?

Your friends know the best coffee spots. Now you can find them.
Chiru is a coffee app built around trust. Not star ratings from people you’ve never met — real signals from the people you follow.

Discover cafes worth going to
When a friend has been somewhere twice, saved it, or called it a must-visit, Chiru shows you. The map surfaces what your network actually recommends, with plain-language context like “3 friends went” or “Mia keeps coming back.” No mysterious scores, no filler reviews.

Log your coffee life in seconds
Check in with a photo or skip the camera entirely — a one-tap check-in works just as well. Chiru captures the moment without making it feel like filling out a form.

Build a coffee passport worth keeping
Your profile becomes a visual archive of everywhere you’ve been: organized by month, searchable at a glance, and rewarding to revisit. Monthly recap cards show your unique cafes, repeat spots, and favorite coffee intentions — whether or not anyone else has seen them yet.

Practical signals, not just vibes
Need to work for two hours? Wondering if the espresso is actually good? Chiru tracks what your friends say about outlets, noise, time limits, and what’s worth ordering — so you can make a real decision before you walk in the door.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.9.2 — 2026-05-12

Share your check-ins anywhere

You can now share any check-in as a link — paste it into Threads, Messages, or anywhere else. Recipients see the photos, note, and cafe right in their browser, no app needed. Tap the paperplane icon in any post to share.

Cafe and profile pages are now fully public on the web too. Share a cafe or your profile and people will see the real content at chiru.nl.

Other improvements

- Share icon moved to the post action row on all screens — consistent across feed, cafe detail, and profile
- Heart and comment icons are now bolder and stay in place when counts change
- Tapping the comment or heart button now has a satisfying press animation and haptic feedback
- Fixed a bug where non-anonymous users appeared as "Anonymous" on shared links

### 1.8.0 — 2026-05-01

Cafe detail is now more useful: check-ins from people you follow appear first, you can follow or unfollow someone directly from their check-in, and a new tag filter lets you quickly browse by what friends say about the cafe. Fixed an issue where some users received multiple monthly recap notifications. Fixed an issue where the monthly recap would reappear on launch even after it had already been viewed.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-04-26

ou can now log how much you spent — just add an optional price per person when checking in. Cafe pages show the
crowd-sourced average so you know what to expect before you go. We also expanded the drink and food tag lists: hojicha,
chai, Sicilian, and dirty join the drinks; sandwich, oat bowl, yogurt bowl, bagel, and salad join the food picks section.
Prices display in local currency with the right number of decimal places for each region.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-04-24

Anonymous mode is here. Turn it on in Settings to hide your identity from people who
don't follow you — they'll see a blurred avatar and a partial username instead.
Anonymous accounts require a follow request, so you stay in control of who sees your
posts and activity. Follow request notifications keep everything in one place.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-04-23

You can now long-press the heart on any post to see exactly who liked
  it.

Notifications got a few upgrades too: swipe left to delete ones you're
done with, and the list now loads more as you scroll. Push notifications
will also appear in your language if you're using Traditional Chinese
  or Japanese.

Finally, on the first of each month you'll get a notification reminding
you to check your monthly recap and see where you landed on the
  leaderboard.
