### 4/5 — Needs interval walk/run programs

*2020-11-13*

Seems to run well.
The app needs to integrate walk/run interval programs, for beginners learning/training to run.

### 3/5 — If I start run, time runs but no miles change

*2019-01-11*

Not sure if there is bug but once’s miles started to change after I stopped running

### 4/5 — Occasionally locks up

*2017-10-23*

I’ve used this app for years and agree with the other reviews but lately it will crash and the only way I can close the app is to restart my phone

### 4/5 — User since February

*2014-12-08*

Love the app.
Have been a chi runner since 2009, always trying to improve my form! The built in metronome has helped significantly along with, distance and time. Would like to see splits. Just recently history does not look at weekly stats nor cumulative stats for any other range.
Hope it will integrate with iWatch and Apple health.

### 4/5 — Pandora bug

*2014-05-13, version 1.0.0*

This is a review of the app, not of Danny or his program! (Which is wonderful.)

Audio on pandora is turned down once I start the chirunning app, and remains and a quiet level throughout the run. The volume of my music should only be reduced when Danny is talking during the guided runs - not the entire time.

Thank you

### 2/5 — This app killed my chi.

*2014-02-14, version 1.0.0*

Why so you need my email, age, height, weight, gender just to use the app? I don't like you collecting info you don't need for spam purposes. Just play the metronome. I paid $10, now respect my privacy by not prying into my personal information.

Stop talking to me like a sleepy baby in the app. I'm trying to get energized and this isn't helping.

### 2/5 — Not worth the price

*2014-01-27, version 1.0.0*

I'm a beginner to chirunning, so I thought this would help. I like the metronome, and the reminders about form; however, it isn't worth the price. I wish it was better about tracking the course that you've run, and I wish there was a way to listen to music through this app. I tried using it, and I just ended up switching to the Nike run app. Disappointing. I feel that I wasted my money.

### 5/5 — Hervorragende App

*2014-01-18*

Sehr zu empfehlen. Besonders die kurzen Videos sind äußerst hilfreich!

### 5/5 — Outstanding Running App

*2014-01-18*

This app is worth every penny. The metronome feature works well and by itself makes this app a great value. The audio coaching done by Danny is also an excellent feature. Very versatile easy-to-use and compatible with other features like your own music.

### 5/5 — Like Running with your Personal Coach!

*2014-01-15, version 1.0.0*

A tremendous value with video lessons, metronome, map your run, and ability to customize the focuses you want to work on and how frequently your "coach" speaks to you.

### 5/5 — Simple, intuitive. It's my portable coach

*2014-01-14, version 1.0.0*

Fantastic app! I have been a runner for years. And ChiRunning has changed my life! I love having everything in one place (lessons, focuses, tools, videos)

Awesome!

### 1/5 — Support for Apple Watch

*2021-03-13*

I could not use this App from Apple Watch

### 1/5 — Not worth of money

*2020-07-08*

You will get irritated and using for a week. Same thing you can’t hear every day. 10 min of chi running method 10$ is not worth.

### 1/5 — Feel cheated

*2019-03-16, version 2.1.0*

This app is priced way too high for what it is, and given the compromises it includes, should actually be free.

I bought this on recommendation from a bad consultation with a Chi runner (in addition to the book of the same price) and there is absolutely no advantage that the app provides.

This is a very basic tracker app, which will repeat various audio samples such as reminding you to keep a good posture, whilst playing a metronome. Before using the aforementioned guided run feature, you need to register an account with lots of personal details 🙄 which will then lead to various ‘discounts’ on upsells.

There are some short videos demonstrating the components of chi running, in addition to warm up and cool down routines. None of these videos are well shot, nor particularly informative. They are short, and glance over the technique, you are left thinking that they have seriously missed a trick or two, given what they could have done in an app, e.g. diagrams, slow motion walk throughs.

It is all hastily put together, a few videos, a basic tracker (which for some reason does not allow you to keep your own details e.g. path, but lets you send a summary of your run as in distance, time, pace) and a clunky interface.

There are plenty of good running apps there and absolutely no need to pay for this. You can glean the information from a few of the owners youtube videos, or just google good for the Chi method, or good form. My other running app respects ones privacy so it is stored on your phone, and you are able to send the route info, as well as lots of detailed infromation e.g. time splits, pace, etc by e-mail, to Dropbox, and a number of other places.

This app will get a few more people as sadly it is the official app of the Chi Running method, however it is a sshame and low effort. They should not require registration (you’ve paid enough), shoot better videos that demonstrate the method, and stretches properly, perhaps use animations, clean up the interface, allow users to save their own information, and more importantly focus on fostering a good interactive understanding of the technique with feedback e.g. cadence monitoring, journal entries, and perhaps even a community. Instead, we have a low effort, overpriced app which has been clunkily put together, that will sell because it is affiliated with Danny Dreyer.

### 1/5 — Sadly

*2019-02-17, version 2.1.0*

Will give it a few more chances but I doubt I will continue using. I’m returning to running after a series of serious operations. App doesn’t link to heart monitor or local weather or upload data to calendar so I can’t tell if bad stats were due to running against a strong wind, can’t compare against last time I ran same route, can’t check calendar to see regularity/data and improvement. Other running apps provide ability to record such info so I would have to use secondary apps to supplement what is a narrowly focussed app. At £9.99 seems expensive for what it is. Shame because I was so happy when I found it. Original CD/Book was TOTALLY brilliant so will go back to listening to downloaded CDs and using alternative running app. Thanks immensely for sharing your knowledge though. Very deeply appreciated!

### 1/5 — Awful

*2017-09-15*

Wish I could get my money back. Boring, repetitious and monotonous. Too much money for repeating the same thing over and over.

### 1/5 — WASTE IF $10

*2016-02-19, version 2.0.2*

DO NOT BUY THIS AP! I bought this ap to help my running; however, the "training" lessons are merely short clips of the exact same thing you'll find online and YouTube. It also does not go into detail on how to actually prepare your body or movements. This ap will only benefit you if you've already had previous lessons in chi running.

### 1/5 — Won't install

*2014-04-25, version 1.0.0*

This app won't install on my iPad. Very disappointing. I really want to like this app. Love the books and overall program, but not this app.

### 1/5 — won't install on orginal ipad with 5.1.1

*2013-05-20, version 1.0.0*

The app is fine on the phone but won't install on my older iPad. Clicking "app support" on the app page within iTunes takes you to the home-page - where there isn't even a hint of support, none.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2017-09-26*

I'm disappointed with this app. I should be able to enter my own info about my run such as mileage. I don't always want to use data to map my run and some of my running is on a treadmill.

### 2/5 — Problems with Map my Run

*2014-11-03, version 1.0.0*

The app has the option to share with map my run. However, i have not been able to do it. It freezes when it says loading. Sent two emails. Finally someone replied with a question. Answered right away and still no response from them. Very poor customer service. I have not been able to even try the app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent lessons

*2024-11-28*

I love the app. Use the metronome faithfully. I wish there was a way to do an indoor run and see your metrics.

### 5/5 — Amazing! Just what I needed

*2022-03-28*

This was exactly what I needed. I have the book, but the app really helps with putting the chi running lessons into practice. The metronome, the guided reminders, the videos…all excellent. From the very first session, it shaved 4 minutes off of my pace with no extra perceived effort.

### 5/5 — Perfect - exactly what I wanted it to be!

*2021-01-29, version 2.1.1*

Some of the previous reviews seem a little unfair. This is an app that you can take with you to have a ‘coach in your ear’, reminding you of all the different elements that make up Chi Running, combined with a metronome to keep your cadence up and consistent. In one run my heart rate has dropped from around 140 to 120, at the SAME speed of running! It’s perfect and just what I wanted this app to be. THANK YOU!!!

### 5/5 — Outstanding intro to ChiRunning

*2021-01-16*

It has everything you would want as a basic and intermediate running app (GPS), but what it does lack is the ability to set intervals - even though intervals are an option in the tracking feature.

Once again, worth the investment for the clear concise lessons. I opted for the app instead of the book.

### 5/5 — ChiRunning app is great!

*2019-07-04*

Use this app to train for walking 5K road races. My race times are improving, almost no aches or pains, and less tired at end of training session or race.

### 5/5 — Very useful app for ChiRunning

*2019-06-10*

Many helpful short videos with Chi Running instructions. The metronome works well if you play with the settings (tap the Metronome toggle to tweak it - had to set single beats with low bpm to create a proper waltz that didn’t have too many beeps). After reading the book, I’ve found this app very useful to help get into chi running.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2016-10-31*

Just ran my 1st marathon at 53 year old! Before ChiRunning, I never ran more than 3 miles before pain stopped me. With ChiRunning app and book I found that running long distance does not have to hurt!!!! Running can be fun joyful experience that changes your life. I am a physician and I am convinced that with ChiRunning app and book, anyone can run marathon without pain or injury. This app costs $10. Couple of burgers costs more... As a physician, I highly recommend this app and ChiRunning program.

### 5/5 — Excellent runner's app

*2016-03-08*

I took the Chi running class with Danny Dreyer and it was great. Having this app is like having Danny out there helping you every step of the way. Chi running is as valuable as meditation and yoga in ones pursuit for a sound mind and a sound body. Enjoy!

### 5/5 — Chi-Running

*2016-01-30, version 2.0.1*

Me and my girlfriend run together using the metronome and the Chi Lessons. We just completed a half marathon. It was her second one and my first. Great app and totally worth the price!

### 5/5 — Love it

*2015-12-10, version 2.0.1*

Really fantastic to have the audio focuses during a run. It's far easier to keep good form than just trying to remember them from the book. Would love the ability to export run data though.
