Chiserok (治世錄) — Your choices rewrite the history of Korea.

Rule the Korean peninsula through 5,000 years of history, from the founding of Gojoseon to modern-day Korea, in this alternate-history strategy simulation. Every decision you make can change the fate of your nation and lead to an ending different from the history you know.

### v4.4 — 2026-09-06

[Chiserok v4.4] Battle Presentation & Balance Improvements

Battle events and duel (general showdown) scenes now show the enemy general's portrait,
nameplate, and unique dialogue. From Gojoseon through the Manchu invasion of Joseon, 12 eras
feature real historical rival generals (Gyebaek, Kim Yu-sin, Wang Geon, Gyeon Hwon, Katō
Kiyomasa, and more), each with their own battle taunts.

We also found and fixed an issue where Hard difficulty behaved almost identically to Normal
for several income sources (region development, coalition building). Hard mode now genuinely
requires more careful play.

Additionally, fixed the title screen's "Continue" button not translating properly in English mode.

### v4.3 — 2026-09-04

[Chiserok v4.3] Ruler Succession Portraits

Previously, a ruler's portrait stayed the same throughout an era regardless of who
succeeded the throne. Now the 15 dynastic eras show different portraits for early/mid/
elder reigns, and modern-day Korea cycles through 5 distinct individuals each election,
reflecting its 4-year presidential term. Silla and Unified Silla also gained dedicated
portraits for their real historical queens.

Illustrated portraits now also appear in parts of the event dialogue and duel result
screens, alongside a new-ruler reveal animation, era-specific portrait frame styling,
and other small polish.

### v4.2 — 2026-09-03

[Chiserok v4.2] Character Portrait Update — Complete

This release finishes the illustration work started in v4.1. Retainer portraits for
the remaining eight eras — Gojoseon, Gaya, Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, Balhae, Unified
Silla, and Later Baekje — have now been redrawn as full illustrated art. Every ruler
and retainer portrait across all 16 eras is now fully illustrated, with no pixel-art
sprites remaining.

Also includes minor stability improvements.

### v4.1 — 2026-09-02

[Chiserok v4.1] Character Portrait Update

Every ruler portrait across all 16 eras — from Gojoseon to modern-day Korea —
has been redrawn as full illustrated art, replacing the original pixel-art
sprites. Six eras (Taebong, Later Silla, Goryeo, Joseon, the Korean Empire,
and modern Korea) also received new illustrated portraits for retainers,
distinguished by role (civil official / military officer / diplomat).

Also includes minor stability improvements.

### v4.0 — 2026-08-30

[Chiserok v4.0]

The retainer system has been greatly expanded. Every advisor now has four stats —
War, Intellect, Politics, and Charm — your roster has grown from 6 to 12, and you
can now actively recruit from a pool of candidates that refreshes each turn.

Regional development is now split into four categories — Agriculture, Commerce,
Security, and Technology — with permanent output growth the more you invest.

Combat now factors your commander's War stat directly into your win chance, plus
a new one-on-one duel sequence between rival commanders. The region action panel
has been reorganized into three tabs (Military / Diplomacy / Espionage) for
easier navigation.

New espionage actions — sowing discord and sending spies — give you options
beyond direct confrontation.

Also includes numerous stability fixes, including screens that failed to refresh
after switching languages and save/load issues that could drop some progress.
