### 4/5 — Too short of a career

*2025-12-06, version 1.3.9*

The fee times you get to really make choices seem to fly by then the game is over. All in all it would be nicer to really grow through ranks.

### 4/5 — Cinema

*2024-09-30*

i died of thirst

### 4/5 — A Unique Experience

*2022-08-06, version 1.3.6*

The experience of playing this game was pretty exciting. Though it was too short, I was expecting a choice to become a pirate through mutiny. Nonetheless, it is a fine game that deserves this good review. Though it could use some more story and more career choices for ya guy, it was really entertaining for me, so not necessarily THE greatest choose-your-own adventure game, but pretty cool and superiorly unique over some of the others I’ve played from this company. Semper Fi brothers.

### 5/5 — This was fun…

*2021-12-19*

But short. I would have loved to spend hours and hours on this…

### 5/5 — Beautiful and charming text adventure game

*2021-12-01, version 1.3.5*

A lot of love and heart went in to this game, as well as the game of choice series in general. Perfect for when you want to get lost in another world

### 3/5 — Well written but short and expensive

*2021-09-01*

As a fan of the Aubrey / Maturin books (on which this game is clearly based) I was looking forward to this. It’s well written, the choices genuinely make you think and I like the characters. But it is soooo short. Not long after promotion, I’ve defeated the Lynx thinking there was much more to come, but that was is it! £4.49 to remove the adds is way too much for a game of this length. If I had known how short the game was I would not have purchased.

### 5/5 — I’m a bit late but...

*2021-08-10*

Love this game so much! Definitely recommend playing I have played it many times now and still love it and ik ow I’m a bit late but will there be any more content coming out?

### 5/5 — I love this

*2021-02-15, version 1.3.2*

I have read and completed this story more times than I can count, I can’t find anything like it. I truly love broadsides.

### 3/5 — Good game for the most part

*2021-01-28, version 1.3.2*

This game is pretty good, but when I try to restore . This is a major bug which needs to be fixed urgently.my purchase, it closes and keeps doing so every time I try to play it.

### 4/5 — Great game

*2020-12-11*

It’s a tad short but other than that good job

### 5/5 — Surprisingly Great!

*2020-10-04*

Genuinely impressed!
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much - I don’t tend to trust reviews all that much either, but this was brilliantly written, and so much fun!
Actually the best CYOA game I have read through in a long, long time!

Can’t recommend highly enough!

### 5/5 — I will PAY you to make more of these.

*2020-09-17, version 1.3.2*

Specifically I will pay you $250 to make two more of these Napoleonic era Navy stories for me to enjoy. Really fun stuff. Steven dot James924 at gmail

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2020-08-29*

After I played this, I instantly installed choice of games. Thank you so much for introducing me to this awesome genre of games!

### 3/5 — Okay, but some issues.

*2020-08-16*

So I recently got this game since I was looking for a Napoleonic Wars style game. Was good, storyline and choose your own story idea is good, until.. I was playing and I had to do something. About 20 minutes later, I went to resume my story, which I was far into. The game restarted my progress. I am disappointed in this, and if this one of those pay to complete sort of stories, I am unimpressed.

### 5/5 — Great story

*2020-07-10*

So much fun! Would 10/10 recommend. I’ve played it a few times already

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2020-06-16*

This game is superb, it draws you in, you control the ending/fate, and overall it’s just so immersive. However, what would make it even more fun, is if you could choose between being an officer for Albion or Gaul (maybe even another nation, like Hispania for Spain) since it would add more diversity. Other than that, this game is just wow. Best of all, it’s completely free in terms of chapters, unlike a lot of other games. This makes it even better. Again, keep doing what you’re doing.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Font too small

*2025-09-27, version 1.3.9*

Not smart enough to allow adjustable font sizes but your generation is that snart.

### 1/5 — A Wreck

*2021-03-16, version 1.3.2*

After the first page the advert blocks the button to advance any further.. A cheap trick.

### 1/5 — Super Idee, verhungert aber

*2021-02-25*

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2019-11-09, version 1.2.5*

This day and age its rubbish...don't waste your time...

### 1/5 — So badly done

*2017-08-06*

Typical scenario when someone has no idea how to make something user-friendly. I accidentally skipped a page and had no way of going to the previous page. This is ridiculous as I now have no interest in the story because I have no idea what I missed out on. To make it worse, they put ads on all the time which is so no annoying. I would love to see what the story is all about because the ad looks very interesting but I think it is too annoying for me to continue.

### 1/5 — Choice of broadside

*2016-09-09, version 1.2.3*

Terrible

### 1/5 — Unoriginal ripoff

*2012-11-05, version 1.1.3*

I enjoyed other Choice Of games but when I played this one I immediately noticed that it is the exact story of Horatio Hornblower. They didn't even have the originality to bother changing the ship names. Even the name of the country is unoriginal, taken from the Fable series. Makes me wonder about the others too.

### 1/5 — Not so good

*2011-01-23, version 1.0.4*

Didn't like it all you do is press buttons no action

### 2/5 — Ruined by odd names

*2022-07-31, version 1.3.6*

One nation is obviously England. The other is obviously France. Why not just use those two names? Why use the names Albion and Gaul? Those odd and outdated names ruin the experience.

### 2/5 — Cant click next

*2014-07-07, version 1.1.4*

It is very good but it wont let me scroll down and click next.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Peak.

*2026-05-27*

Absolute peak. I love the navy, I love games about them, and this game is one of the few historical navy games that were originally amazing and not the same repetitive thing. Each time the choices can wind up differently, which adds an awesome detail to the game. Would be cool for a longer version of the game, but I understand games are hard to make. I love the fact that your gender makes it impact the others it’s kinda cool! Overall I would rate it 100/5 if I could !⚓️

### 5/5 — Text based fun

*2025-04-26, version 1.3.9*

Excellent text based adventure. Easy to play without looking like a game.

### 5/5 — Short

*2025-01-17, version 1.3.9*

Good but short

### 5/5 — Waiting for sequels

*2023-07-24, version 1.3.8*

This was like living inside a Hornblower book. Immensely fun and well written, so I hope there's a sequel.

### 5/5 — A decade later and it still holds up

*2023-05-18, version 1.3.7*

Still fun :)

### 5/5 — Plz read !!

*2023-03-20, version 1.3.6*

I need a pt.2 or a game just like it !!!

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2023-02-23*

Great storyline with loads of atmosphere. Keeps you thinking and worrying if that last decision is going to be the last you ever make!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2022-09-20, version 1.3.6*

Thoroughly enjoyed, sad I didn’t have more!

### 5/5 — Wow

*2022-03-05, version 1.3.5*

This game was well written and amazingly fun. Regretted killing that frenchman or “Gaul” man in the end. Perhaps thats a sign of how outstandingly well written this was.

### 5/5 — Fun adventure

*2022-02-06, version 1.3.5*

Clearly has done their research adding much to it. I like all the different traits and how they actually affect your choices. My only complaint is that it’s far too short I want more.
