I also got different endings when I retried but it was too short for me. Over all, it was interesting but I was also hoping to get more route from the romance section. This one was too short. Deceptively short, such an interesting plot would have made for at least an hour of play but alas. SO WELL WRITTEN *2013-08-04, version 1.0.0* but it is too short. Like so short it's inexcusable. I noticed that people complain that CoG are too short often. An easy fix would be to apply some kind of minimum pages for a game. People want stuff as long as Exodus, so CoG should set a rule where games need to be around as long as a single Exodus chapter. ### 1/5 — SHORT! The field of romance, which most if not all choice of games touch, was not explored AT ALL!! It had the potential to be really great with such an interesting focus. But it was short and not compelling. I didn't feel drawn into the world like I usually do. The characters and story were unremarkable and flat. It felt like there was very little control over what happened. I have never only played a CO game one time through, but this one I uninstalled immediately after I finished it the first time. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2013-07-27, version 1.0.0* Choice of Games earns top marks for Choice of Broadsides and Choice of Vampires because the writers wrote a complex and multi-thread "choose your own adventure" story. In "Ninja" it seems that your stats are just for show and have little to no effect on the story. The story itself is rather linear and nearly incapable of losing. The idea of this story was a good one but it is just a hollow shell of what the game should be. So much wasted potential! I want to see reoccurring characters, evolving relationships, intrigue, and most importantly- I want a game with CHOICES. ### 2/5 — Weak *2015-06-09, version 2.1.0* I agree with Unidraconus' review that this one's more for kiddies. I don't think much research went into this either as far as Japanese culture or how ninjas were trained or operated. A regional ninja academy? Really? Complete with Hogwarts-like instructors for different subjects? Seemed like the author was just adapting his/her American suburbian experience to a "ninja school". Maybe I'm wrong but that doesn't sound historically accurate to me. Anyway, story is predictable and the fight scenes are disappointing and few and far between. I wanted darker writing with more stealth, action, suspense and kick-buttery. What I got was a kids novel fit for ages 8-12. Even then the characters were shallow, choices not very ninja, story not very thrilling, fighting not very entertaining. Over all unless your a kiddo that hasn't read much this is hardly worth the time unless you just want to say you read a ninja story. I played one time then lost interest. In my younger days when choice books were the rage this would have been published in limited print... ### 2/5 — Disapointed again *2014-09-12, version 2.0.1* I found that most of the time I was reasonably bored with it but when I finally was getting mild interest in the game it abruptly ended. Too much money for too little content and too short of a story. If a second game of this is realeased I am not buying it. I'm only giving an extra star because I feel pity. I was disappointed that there were no new missions following the ending, just more detailed versions of the old ones, though the expansions for those missions are fun and intriguing. Honestly, it feels like this version should have been the original, but now that the foundation has been properly laid, I, along with all the other Ninja fans, eagerly await new missions and adventures!
