### 3/5 — Good but...

*2018-12-03*

I personally think you should have more choices. No matter what you do everything is the same basically. You always have to be the band leader, and the singer.
You should be able to join a band and not have to be the singer. Have more then one choice of the band members you hire.
When I went threw it the first time I wanted there to be duo lead guitarists (Me and a npc), a singer/ Rhythm guitarist, Bassist, Drummer, and a keyboardist.
When I did it again I wanted to be the drummer but not also a singer.

I also would have wanted to be more of a Glam/Hair metal band but well that didn’t work.

My point is that this story needs more choices.

### 3/5 — Good Bones But....

*2018-06-29*

I hope someone tries writing this type of story again, because it had the potential to be really good. It was just too short, with too few endings and things to work with.

### 3/5 — Middling quality

*2017-10-13*

If you’re looking for a choice of games story and haven’t played this one yet, it’s not bad. There are far better stories out there to start with though. I’d pick it up when it’s on sale.

### 3/5 — Not Worth It

*2016-01-24*

Like another reviewer, I purchased the game after the first three chapters' trial, thinking it would last me a while before moving on to another game. Not the case. Took maybe 30 minutes. Of course I can play again, but I'm not sure that I want to.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2015-07-15*

I was really excited for this one... Only to be really disappointed. This had real potential to be something amazing. Not saying it's terrible just that it could be better. It was far too short. I hope that an update comes out with more scenes.

### 3/5 — Good beginning, but...

*2015-06-23*

This game feels like it hasn't been thoroughly fleshed out. The story is fun and has you make decisions without focusing on silly things like reputation, while also allowing you to decide who is and isn't in the band, and the direction of said band. But, in the end, this game still took less than ten minutes to complete; there is nothing inherently wrong with this, except that you must pay to unlock the whole game. You can get a sort of trial before paying for chapters four through ten, and the first three chapters led me to believe that this would be an epic game of what it was like to be a rock star in ages past. This was not the case. Past choosing your band members, choosing a manager (or lack thereof), choosing if you want to sign a contract (or, again, if you don't), and your band's touring status, there arent very many decision that require depth, or even more than thirty seconds of consideration. And the fact that it ends just as you think it should be starting is a major disappointment. This game will hopefully have more additions in the future, and I will be waiting with bated breath.

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2015-04-28*

Whichever choices the player makes they're forced along the same linear storyline. There are points in the story when the player's allowed to make choices, but the game then overrides their agency and tells them that they've decided to do something else. Other features (such as cash) are poorly implemented and don't actual do anything. I'm normally a great fan of Choice of games, but there are considerably better options out there.

### 2/5 — Not worth the price tag.

*2015-02-07*

The story itself is a huge letdown. Clumsily written, a poor amount of choices, and far too easy/short to complete. You're better off going for one of their other less rushed stories. The ending was also extremely dissatisfying and seemingly random to your choices.

### 2/5 — Decent

*2015-01-27, version 1.0.10*

Decent until the end anyway. Very abrupt and unsatisfying ending. That and it was very short.

It may only cost $2 but that is far more than it is worth.

### 2/5 — Abrupt ending

*2014-12-02*

The start was really good but as you read on it honestly gets worse for me and has less choices. Also the statistics barely change anything! And the ending was so abrupt that I didn't even expect it... And where was the climax?

### 3/5 — Good, but a bit confusing

*2014-10-21, version 1.0.10*

I'm not an 80s child. I've had a bit of a hard time relating to some things but that's not really his/her fault.

### 3/5 — Fun

*2014-10-05*

This game is great, but you only get to read three chapters without paying. I don't mind sitting through adverts to play this sort of game if you don't pay, but I do mind not being able to find out what happens at the end of the story.

### 3/5 — Limited

*2014-07-19*

The demo can be misguiding because it starts of so great. Starting from about halfway through, you start getting less and less choices and interaction and it eventually becomes a novel. The ending comes waaaaay too soon and is in my opinion one of the least satisfying endings out of all the games they offer. Buy at your own risk, knowing that you are getting what should essentially be 1/3 of the game.

### 3/5 — OK CYOA

*2014-07-16*

But having bought the Heroes Rise series on steam, I don't really think I want to get any more of these games - too similar really, and this one was shorter than the HR game I haven't even finished yet. Also, it would be nice to be able to name all of the songs. Some re-playability, but I'm not sure I will play again.

### 3/5 — Fun but needs work

*2014-07-09*

Small ridiculous details like being able to seemingly carry drums around. You can't just pick up a set and carry it in a case but this game seems to think otherwise.

### 3/5 — Really good. But could have been much better.

*2014-05-23*

I really enjoyed it. I thought that there was a great story and all of the choices that you could make were great. My only real problem with the game is that the ending seemed a bit anti-climactic. The ending just seemed to come out of nowhere. One minute everything is going and the next minute everything seems to be resolved just like that and it's over. I hope that there is going to be a second apart and it can continue the story. I can think of a number of different things that could happen and I hope that there is going to be more from this game. I also thought that there could be more as far as Romance options. I was hoping that you could have the option of who you date. Again, I really think that there is more that could be done with this game. So I really hope that another part to this story will come.

### 2/5 — Short and Disappointing

*2014-05-07*

It had a promising and fun, immersive start. However, once you become famous, everything goes downhill. Your band members are forgettable at best, my characters brother left the band for the stupidest reason, and the sudden ending left me stunned, hoping for more. This game truly has potential and could be the best, but the ending completely destroys the amazing immersion I felt at the start.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No choice

*2016-12-10*

Choice of games Is wonderful because of the interactivity and the decisions. However, this was a short story not an interactive game. It was a short linear story that was able to be completed in less than an hour without any replay value.

### 1/5 — Plot holes

*2015-05-01, version 1.1.2*

Most choice of games stories are really good, however, this one seemed to not work if you took many paths. For example, you could have a hated rival without ever meeting them.

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2015-01-16*

I'm a huge fan of the Choice of series and I had high hopes for this game and the setting that it explores, but I was met with disappointment. It's a very short game, and didn't give as many options and changes to the plot as it could have. Not worth the buy, I unfortunately have to say.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2014-04-30*

Short, boring, not much to talk about. Not worth even a buck. They ended their demo on a good note to hook you but it ALL does downhill from there.

### 1/5 — Could be good

*2014-04-30, version 1.0.5*

After going through chapter 3 it makes you pay. Also there are a few mistakes with the genders, like if you select male your character is interested in males

### 1/5 — Wayyyy too short

*2014-04-21, version 1.0.2*

Took like 10 min to finish, and the story is all but broken, the story seems to lack any sort of choice

### 2/5 — It's good, but not worth the price

*2017-04-29, version 1.1.2*

The story was nice enough but I feel like for 2.99 I've gotten much better stories from COG. They definitely need to drop the price on this one.

### 2/5 — Lacks length and depth

*2017-01-04*

Too short, not enough detail, and the choices are all kind of boring. Nothing seems to have much of an effect. It was interesting enough to play through once but I won't bother repeating it. Definitely not worth the money.

### 2/5 — All the new free ones are lies

*2016-09-26, version 1.1.2*

These games used to be bad but at least they were free

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2015-07-25*

Honestly I'm a little disappointed with this game. I'm a huge fan of the "Choice Of" games but this one fell short. The storyline was short and it felt like there was no variation. The multiple endings just seem to blend together. As a musician I felt like there should've been more on offer.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great game and I have some suggestions

*2020-12-01*

It’s a great and enjoyable game but I wish that it lasted longer than it did. It would be great if you drew out the story of the characters love life more. Plus when you have to choose an album
I have some suggestions for some more albums to choose
Paranoid by black sabbath
Freak out by mother’s of invention (frank zappa’s band)
A night at the opera by queen
My generation by the who
Also when you’re band is given a style like artsy, poppy or punk you should be able to choose the style and not be assigned the style

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2014-07-11, version 1.0.10*

This is a really well made text based game!

### 5/5 — Great game

*2014-05-02*

I love all of choice of games alternate ending books. And I really enjoyed this one, it is worth a couple extra dollars, and is really fun to play. My favorite book of theirs is heros rise

### 5/5 — Rockstar

*2014-04-14*

Ive played a lot of multiple choice text games and this one is definitely up there with the best. I love the replay value in the game and I've already played through three times, with very different characters with different levels of success. The only negative thing I can say is that I wished it lasted longer, would love to see a sequel or extra content added. All in all, it's a great game and well worth the money for the complete game.

### 5/5 — Woo

*2014-04-05, version 1.0.0*

Rock on

### 4/5 — Good Game

*2016-03-28*

I really enjoyed this game but was disappointed that it didn't keep going. It was to short and I hope that in a future update more content can be added because it was really good!

### 4/5 — Flawed, but enjoyable.

*2016-01-23*

I though this choice game was fun and well written overall. The story starts strong but the sense of pacing starts to get out of whack towards the middle of the story and it felt like I was being fast-forwarded through the story. Many of the stats didn't seem to matter, and they changed erratically. My rockstar only had one night of partying and that pushed him surprisingly deep into bad boy territory for example. Still, besides some nit picks, it's a fun choice game.

### 4/5 — Great game

*2014-06-03, version 1.0.8*

Would give the game a five star rating but if u pick to be a boy u pick up boys instead of girls

### 4/5 — Fun, Quick, With Choices that Matter

*2014-05-15, version 1.0.8*

This is, in my opinion, one if the better Choice Of games. The story was interesting, and for the most part the decisions you make actually affect the story. I would have like to see more (or any really) relationship options. The story was quick to get through, but the way your choices affect the story really add a lot of replay value.

### 4/5 — Good

*2014-04-29, version 1.0.5*

Still has some bugs in the story, but is a decent game overall. 3.5 stars
