It was incredible on the sci-fi, morality, and also romance sides. Unfortunately I couldn’t change outfits the whole time without paying a fortune. There should have at least been cheap alternatives of dresses and such for events. Plus the choice for diamond options came up at least three times in each chapter and they were typically 30 which was too many. Overall though, fantastic storyline. (Update: several years later - still remember this app. So sad to see it die by using AI. AI sucks!!! Hire artists with real skill!) ### 2/5 — Get back to yourselves! I’d love to subscribe again once there’s new books to read. ### 2/5 — diminished quality with AI *2026-08-13, version 4.6.7* i've been a choices player since the first few stories were crown & flame, most wanted, endless summer, and rules of engagement. i've grown up with this game which is why it's so disappointing to see the direction it appears to be taking. the quality of the writing (which i came to believe was always LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than other similar apps) has severely downgraded. i can barely get through books these days because they're just not interesting. there is no development outside of a love interest and it's caused every character in every book to feel flat and one-dimensional. the art has also plummeted in quality due to AI, and that's actually what moved me to finally write this review. from the cover art to the backgrounds to the characters and customization, AI is clearly a favorite tool. but the problem with AI is that you can always tell when a human didn't care enough to clean it up. lines that don't quite line up, exaggerated facial expressions, and illegible nonsense words on posters in the background. if it would cost you more time and effort to tidy up all the mistakes AI has made just so your game doesn't look soulless and sloppy, just go back to hiring real artists and real writers. seriously. ### 4/5 — A longtime Choices user *2026-08-11, version 4.6.7* I’ve had Choices installed for a while and throughly enjoyed it, but your current use of obvious AI for cover images is very disappointing. I’m not sure if you’re struggling with real artists to create cover art for you, but I much prefer your older stories which I know we’re hand-crafted by humans. I’m not sure if this review will ever be seen, but if so, please consider dropping the AI and switching back to real working artists. Thank you! ### 3/5 — VIP Needs more *2026-08-06, version 4.6.7* It’s a shame when your reading such a great story and for anything you need a lot of diamonds I’m a VIP member and truly believe we should be given more. I don’t think it’s fair that I have a subscription and then have to keep purchasing more diamonds just to unlock some scenes. I truly believe there should be more perks to I love this game but I think us VIP players should be valued a little more. I also tried to the rewards and they never worked or I would do them but never got the reward I’m upset about this. If this would change I would gladly change my review ### 2/5 — Game is not the same *2026-08-05, version 4.6.7* I used to love this game as a teenager and occasionally come back for a story. The style has absolutely changed, the books are longer the backgrounds are getting less detailed and the characters now look cartoonish and less unique. I loved this game because the stories were good and had a developed set of characters (Ride or Die is a great example), now they lack depth and the storylines feel repetitive. I hope the developers decide to go back to classic Choices, make good stories again or even add on to some of the older series, it’s the nostalgia we crave. ### 2/5 — Lost value *2026-07-30, version 4.6.7* I was a follower of this app’s development from the very first stories and I can say I’ve see the quality improv and fall over time. This year I got back into playing regularly and noted the quality had changed again. Holes in the story or just a slop ending. The membership is no longer worth it. RIP to choices ### 1/5 — Every option cost 20 diamonds *2026-07-26, version 4.6.7* You guys will charge 20 diamonds for the most unnecessary basic materials ### 4/5 — ♡ *2026-07-25, version 4.6.7* i really enjoy the new character styles in more recent stories like idol & love and layups. i hope you guys continue to use these styles in future. the options available in the blood bound stories are also nice looking. i would love a new story about being on a reality tv dating show like love island, or at the very least a remaster of america's most eligible. i've always wanted to play those stories but i can't handle how the characters look. i'm not a big fan of the specific set of character faces available in that story and sadly those are the faces available in most of the older stories so i have a hard time playing them. it would be nice to have more remasters of older stories how you guys did TCATF, which is an amazing story by the way. another thing, please change the app icon to something that isn't a couple kissing or whatever. my mom and nieces saw this on my phone and they're like ermmm what's that. i'm 22 but i still feel weird about it lol. or if we could have some different options in game to switch it to like how instagram allows you to pick from a few different color gradients for your app icon. yeah, i like this game i just wish some of the character options in older stories were updated or something. ### 4/5 — Great App! *2026-07-23, version 4.6.7* I have been a fan of choices since I was a teenager, back then unfortunately I couldn’t buy any premium options so I had to make do with the free options but the app has always had great stories. Especially the one I’m in now, Scream For Me, I just had to write a review after reading this book because I just went on the app and saw there was a part 2!! Too excited!! I’m literally about to get the VIP just to read on! This is only one favorite though. My only issue was that in this book when you go to choose your character and look the hairstyle on the cover isn’t one of the options, I was disappointed but I chose another that I came to love! But really, been reading for years and still amazing, now I spend too much money on diamonds to binge read! But it’s worth it!! I’ve redownloaded it three or four times and over those accounts spent upwards of $200. The heart and charm the stories used to have is dead. The shift to AI is *so* disappointing for an app that used to highlight their staff and I kept hoping they’d realize that and go back to real artists. The AI covers are poorly done, every story feels like a cut and paste prompt from a fanfiction, and even the character sprites have lost their charm. You had such a good thing going, and you destroyed it for the sake of profit. I really miss the Choices of old. So damn tired of companies cheapening their product with AI, while charging premium prices and expecting their customers and fans to stay loyal. Do better, Pixelberry. Yikes. ### 4/5 — Great *2026-07-15, version 4.6.7* I’ve had this app for years, I can easily say it’s one of my favourites. While yes paying for certain scenes and outfits can be quite costly. It doesn’t really have much impact. The only thing I wish would stay is the outfits you pay in the stories. I would love to be able to use them in other story’s. I highly recommend this app to any readers out there. ### 2/5 — Downgrade *2026-07-15, version 4.6.7* Been playing for years. Loved the stories. Freshman series. Queen B. The crown and the flame. Very good books. Now the new book quality has been getting worse. What used to be max 16 chapters a book is now 6 chapters. I dislike how small the chapters are. How expensive the choices are. And lack of characters?? What happened to multiple Love Interests?? I think it’s not long before I cancel my membership ### 4/5 — Choices ! Sneaky way to avoid paying out rewards!! *2026-07-13, version 4.6.7* I love this App and the stories are great however I’ve noticed something sneaky lately with some of their new books and the rewards for finishing a book for the first time. Apparently you can’t collect the 15 diamond reward if you didn’t read 15 or 16 chapters to finish the book.. even though the reward doesn’t say that.. it’s true. I read a book called Promise of Forever.. it has 2 books and the second one is a continuation of the first that ended on a cliff hanger. Both books are 4 chapters each and the second one wraps up the story. No reward comes for finishing these books. I find it sneaky that they did this as it appears they are trying to keep us from getting rewards from new books. If that’s the case then they need to change the reward description or give us the reward for finishing a book for the first time as the reward states. ### 1/5 — AI Slop *2026-07-12, version 4.6.7* Very disappointed in the direction this app is going. I used to spend so much time and money on this app because it had better storylines and art styles than its competitors. I fell in love with the og stories like the Freshman and I would go back and replay them over and over again. I admit I felt like the quality of the writing has been steadily going down for the past couple of years as they focused more and more on romance-centered stories and less on other genres. I didn’t even hold it against them. I’m sure that’s where the money was. But I recently logged in to check for updates on series and was excited to see that the It Follows series had a new sequel. I enjoyed the first two immensely. Only to be redirected to another website where the story comprised completely of AI generated content. I am disgusted by the lack of creativity. I am deleting the app after being a long time customer for years. It’s truly the end of an era. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2026-07-11, version 4.6.7* Choices has faced a rapid decline after beginning the use of Ai, we can see it in the horrible face models, awful character lines, and blurry backgrounds. I would once come back to this app every two hours to use my next key, now i find myself deleted the app as soon as I install it, always hoping it’s gotten better. You’d think after introducing VIP there’d be an incentive and profit for producing better material yet everything pre VIP is far superior to the slop that is made now. To anyone wanting to buy VIP, save your money don’t pay for negligence, sincerely someone that’s read more than 1000 chapters. ### 1/5 — A Heartbreak *2026-07-11, version 4.6.7* I have been playing this game since I started college in 2017, and the past few years the app has become butchered. So many stories on here have really meant a lot to me, thats the only reason the app is still on my phone, to revisit what used to be but its hard to see what its become. Almost every story has these ai avatars that turn into a new person every time they change expression in this horrific to watch morphing. I used to admite the backgrounds for several minutes when theres a new one or I see an old favorite, but now I regularly cringe at the slop they put behind the text now. I loved the Crimes Of Passion series but I havent finished the latest release because a lot of it is unpleasent to look at. My favorite was the It Lives Anthology for the art, the details, the clear heart that went into it and when I saw the new ai video story for it I havent been able yo really open or look at the app for months. Like putting aside any moral qualms about ai, its terrible quality. No more new art, these bizarre shiny animations, the awkward flat soulless voice. It was heartbreaking to see one of my favorite stories, one that has had such a deep impact on my own creative indeavors be turned into this terrible stilted lifeless slop. Honestly its been one hell of a decade but I think its time I put my love for this game aside since there is no sign of it ever getting better again. ### 3/5 — Downfall *2026-07-09, version 4.6.7* It’s really unfortunate that this app has gone down hill. Starting stories then completely trashing the project because of layoffs is ridiculous. Using AI instead of original creators that built up your app is disappointing. As I’ve gone through recent reviews I have seen the same things. Decline in quality, increase in quantity, and decline in acknowledgement to the issues with their app. The copy and paste responses to negative reviews is also how you lose participants. We are looking for progress and to see that our concerns are being heard. This is just like the downfall of Lovestruck. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — What happened?! *2026-08-21, version 4.6.7* I’ve used this app for years without any problems. The last few months have been horrible. At one point every time I clicked a book the screen would go completely white and I’d have to close the app and reopen it (which also did not always work) in an attempt to gain access. While following their instructions & submitting screenshots (which went on for WEEKS), I had to repeat myself over and over and over again because they kept giving me the exact same “solutions” that did NOT work the first time. I’ve had to get my game over written twice, I’m being inhibited in using the app due to some update that hasn’t appeared. It takes forever to get to the bottom of every issue… they aren’t being very helpful and the last chat was literally this week and whoever was supposed to be helping me closed out the chat so that I couldn’t reply. The so called update that I’ve been waiting a good while for hasn’t appeared but the alert won’t let me access the books and they don’t even have an estimate for when I could or would actually have access to the update. I’m paying for a VIP membership and in the last few months I’ve hardly been able to use the app. This is bs. It was the only reason I purchased the vip, but I tried to let it go in favor of reading something else in the meantime, but every story I went to because I liked the cover art, the available faces for the story didn’t even match the cover! What is wrong?? Nine of the old stories had this issue, the characters on the cover were the characters you were presented with to play in the book but not anymore. I went through too many stories with this problem ### 1/5 — trash *2026-08-19, version 4.6.7* put this app in the dumpster where it belongs ### 1/5 — Declining quality *2026-08-15, version 4.6.7* The overall quality of the books has really been declining since heavily leaning into using AI. It’s not just the visual content that has been lacking, but more recently it’s the storytelling as well. They have shifted to telling shorter stories, which makes it harder for readers to really connect with the story, characters, etc. I would advise avoiding this app and try “Love and Magic: Spellfyre.” This was created by the original creators of Choices. The storytelling is phenomenal, and the artwork is stunning. ### 1/5 — Barely any vip stories yet vip is still same price *2026-08-11, version 4.6.7* Used to love this app and payed extra for VIP access to new stories. For the past few months the app has gone very down hill. Theres maybe 1-2 (if your lucky most of the times its just 1) vip story released. So half the tome you are paying 15 a month snd not even getting new material. Not worth the money and more. And on the rare occasion its more than 1, they will only release a couple of episodes and then stop the story. Idk why they changed how the app was putting out good content frequently but they need to fix it asap. Ive cancelled my subscription and deleting the app ### 1/5 — Sadden me that They opt for AI *2026-08-11, version 4.6.7* Using AI to save money on actual artist, story writers, and employee?? Such a cheap move that destroyed the once used to be greatness of this app. Their arts used to have its charms, even tho I complained that they need more variety in avatars. This is so bad. I come badk after a longgg break, and saw the arts, I was so surprised.... When I was still using it, they stopped doing actions and horrors, but they still produced human made stories.... I only keep it to reread gems like Endless Summer, Hero, It Lives series. ### 1/5 — Such a downfall. *2026-08-04, version 4.6.7* I used to adore this app because while corny, it definitely had a few gems that I loved so much. They felt real, they immersed me into the story and stayed entertaining with incredible art. Unfortunately… they’ve been embarrassingly, and pathetically obsessed with ai recently. Basically entirely dependent on it now. The ai short stories felt humiliating to see, and now they’re releasing actual books with just a bunch of ai “art”… wouldn’t be shocked at all if the actual writing was all ai too. It’s sad to see that all they release are heavily romance books now, they used to have more action ones… and the extreme lack of horror is saddening. The new stories are all predictable, overpriced (gem wise) slop both in story writing and art. Disappointing. ### 1/5 — Stop with the AI *2026-08-02, version 4.6.7* I used to be a really big fan of the games and the stories but now with the artwork and stories really leaning into AI, it’s super disappointing to see how much they’ve lost their authenticity and charm. Once I actually realized how much AI was being used I went ahead and cancelled my VIP. I understand that there are budgetary constraints but making each story soulless is not the way to handle it. What makes it worse is they have the option to just reuse old artwork and character designs, but they continue to spit out AI slop. They’re fully aware their fanbase hates it and they could not care less. I have been playing for years now and it has declined dramatically. Every book is AI generated slop and/or hyper sexualized. Not everything you read needs to be smut. If you’re going to write smut, make sure it’s good. All of the new books that are coming out are short and poorly written. I do not think the creators of this app or is staff care about quality. The stories used to be so entertaining and original. For the past two years, they have released new books that are just the same plot as their old books. The creativity and care has disappeared. I absolutely adored this game, for its originality and great stories. I have just recently re-downloaded the app, and I am VERY dissatisfied and disappointed with this game. Why do you guys use Ai? Why? So you can turn out new books without putting in the hard work and putting in precious time and effort? The best thing about these types of games are the creative singularity of each story and every character. Now you have abandoned that all for the sake of more money and wasteful means. Dishonorable. The new stories coming out are horrible. No fun, no uniqueness, no good story. It’s obvious when people use Ai and no good thing has ever come from it. I can’t believe you would put down humanity to create slop like this. It doesn’t matter if you are using Ai for one thing or all of it. It. All. Matters. Do the research, Ai is DESTROYING humanity and the earth as we speak. Data centers, wasting electricity and watts, contaminating the oceans and landfills. As long as this continues, may you not receive genuine support from humans or rest in the true beauty of art. Please change and go back to using real people to create real stories. I also wish they would bring back high school story, I would blow my money on that game now that I’m all grown. It’s been one of my favorite games. I love the stories, the characters, the inclusivity, and diversity it provides.
