### 2/5 — Good diversity of chords but give me a flow view or print out

*2024-04-10, version 4.5*

I need to see them without scrolling left and right. Make them flow down like a responsive web. Or create a printout. Both for favorited chords.

This has Good diversity of chords but please give me a flow view or print out so I can see my favorite chords all at once.

### 2/5 — It has chords but not much else.

*2024-02-15, version 4.5*

No way to find slash chords, clumsy format. There are better apps but they are all in the android universe.

### 2/5 — Bad

*2023-02-04, version 4.5*

Bad doesn’t have all the chords and can’t print them out still stinks

### 4/5 — Handy app

*2022-09-10, version 4.5*

I have been playing mandolin for several years and though I know many chords, I want to learn more and often need a variation of the same chord to keep things interesting.

Once I figured out how to get around in the app it’s great.

### 3/5 — Limitado

*2022-01-17, version 4.5*

### 2/5 — Does Not Display Finger Numbers

*2020-09-12, version 4.5*

Does not offer finger numbers making it nearly useless for students.

### 2/5 — Mystifying

*2020-06-14, version 4.5*

I’m sure there’s something to this app but I can’t figure out how to use it. No help. No instructions. No tutorial. I can’t even get it to display any chords. Oh well.

### 4/5 — Versatile, and extremely useful

*2020-05-27*

This is a well-designed and nicely polished app useful for finding chords to help with arranging songs similar to many other apps. However, it can also manage unusual instruments and altered tunings, and has the ability to copy the generated chord boxes. This stand-out feature means you can make up your own song charts in your favourite word processing app and construct your own song charts, which is really what so many musicians need to do. So I could think of a couple of small improvements, but overall I highly recommend it!

### 2/5 — Poor selection of chords in Open E

*2019-08-10, version 4.5*

The open DM7 is not offered on the 1st fret.

### 5/5 — The chord app I’ve always wanted.

*2019-04-07, version 4.5*

Super powerful chord dictionary. Choose a chord, and a number of voicings will be presented in a column. Voicings can be favorited and filtered down to reduce clutter. I can run through all the chords in a song from iRealPro in a few minutes, screen shot the chords I want, and print a cheat sheet.

Crazy impressive flexibility. Multiple string instruments and tunings. I’m learning new tracks on guitar and mandolin so much faster now!

To the developer: Thank you! I’ll be recommending this to all my string playing friends.

### 5/5 — Nice job

*2018-01-06, version 3.1.3*

Complete and very easy to use and clear sounds.

### 4/5 — Chord Aid: Chord Reference.

*2017-11-18, version 2.7.3*

This has the feel of becoming a great support ... not a crutch but rather a learning curve. Finding my way about this software is taking a bit of time but I am getting there. I am sure it will prove invaluable ... once I fully can ‘handle’ it.
I look forward to the updates and You Tube additions.

### 2/5 — Very basic.

*2017-10-09, version 2.6.5*

Any chord requests comes back not available. I regret the purchase.
FOR BEGINNERS ONLY.

### 4/5 — Powerful tool

*2017-09-14, version 2.6.1*

A previous reviewer must be a much better Google searcher than me to find all this material in a few Google searches!
I am impressed with the different instruments and particularly the chords for different tunings. In addition, the individual strings and chords can be strummed or arpeggiated.
It would be even better if it could also display various chord progressions and power chords.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No idea how to use this

*2026-01-25, version 4.5*

Been playing guitar mandolin and banjo for many years and I have no idea how to work this app.

### 1/5 — Disappears after a couple of days.

*2021-05-02, version 4.5*

Weird app, hard to read the chords. Lists some chords with diagrams but then they all disappear. Can’t transpose. You’d do better to just take a photo of a page of banjo chords and keep it on your phone.

### 1/5 — Seriously

*2020-03-26, version 4.5*

I just paid $5.00 for this app. I thought it would provide chord positions and not make me enter and figure them out for myself. Waste of hard earned money. They do not provide a support email address other than a click here but since I purposely do not have email on my phone I have no way to get help. I am usually a person generous in my ratings so that will give you an idea of my review. Lesson learned

### 1/5 — Not Great

*2019-03-02, version 4.3*

This app for beginners is Bad,
Why can’t you guys just Simplify

Worst app, can’t do a thing

### 1/5 — Poor

*2017-09-14, version 2.6.1*

Hard to make head nor tail of how this app works. The tutorial is virtually nonexistent, very disappointed as it was not cheap!

### 1/5 — Mando chords

*2017-09-05, version 2.6.1*

Pretty hard to navigate and not exactly what I was looking for,for mando chord chart,

### 1/5 — Extremely poor app.

*2017-08-26, version 2.6.1*

There is very little to this app no more than you can get from a few Google searches. Sorry I paid the money for it.

### 1/5 — Very bad...

*2017-07-20, version 2.5.5*

A big deception, difficult to switch from chords to chords

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I love it

*2026-01-30, version 4.5*

I m learning a lot with this app

### 5/5 — Great app!!!

*2025-04-22, version 4.5*

I got this app when I bought a banjo and boy let me tell you, it works so well! It doesn’t have the cords to songs but you can learn the cords and then go to an app like ultimate guitar and play songs.
Definitely worth getting!

### 5/5 — My Go To chord creator

*2024-07-26, version 4.5*

I have used the Chord Aid for years it is an outstanding product I use often for all my string instruments. Well Done!

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2024-07-12, version 4.5*

I was looking for chord diagrams for a plectrum banjo. After some searching around I eventually found this. Well thought out and with custom tunings, it does the job better than any other. 5 star app.

### 5/5 — Such a great resource

*2021-06-22, version 4.5*

I found this incredible, so many options for every chord. Also great for kids to play with chords for theory’s sake wihout playing guitar. Super neat!

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for.

*2020-11-16, version 4.5*

I am currently learning several new instruments at once and needed a utility that could store new chords, save them in a list and translate the chords in that list to different instruments. This app does this brilliantly. The interface may not be state of the art, but the feature set and presentation is rich, clear and concise. I am very happy with my purchase.

### 5/5 — Well executed

*2020-09-01, version 4.5*

The interface is exceptionally well designed

### 5/5 — Chord Fantastic...

*2020-06-12, version 4.5*

Great App... Have very basic knowledge playing the Guitar and a Ukulele, I’ve purchased several books and eBooks on Chords and as they are all excellent with this App I am able to go from chord to chord without turning a single page... I also can mark all the chords I’ve learnt as I go along... Well done and thank you... 👍🏽

### 5/5 — Great for those working on their jazz chords

*2020-05-28, version 4.5*

I really like the options for filtering by movable shapes, and for identifying the notes by scale position (as opposed to CDEFGAB).
Also being able to see a chord sequence is much better than just a single chord when trying to break down a song.
I bought the full version, although not sure I needed the tunings. I thought why not, as I never know what chords I am playing with these alt tunings, and the lookup function will be fun to try with these.
Really happy with this app!

### 5/5 — Extremely helpful with sound!

*2020-04-14, version 4.5*

Just take the mute switch off 😅
