### 2/5 — a shell of the actual desktop app

*2023-11-17, version 1.0.9*

needs guitar mode, ai generator, and more in-depth chord editor

### 3/5 — It's cool but please read

*2023-11-13, version 1.0.9*

Okay, so this app is perfect other than one thing. That thing is that the sound stopped working, and I will update this if it gets fixed. I highly recommend this app!

### 4/5 — Great app, minor issues.

*2023-02-20*

If you’re looking for a way to quickly play chords and design progressions this app is perfect for you. It has a piano roll which shows the chords playing making it smooth very easy to understand. There are issues present, like how you can’t play any sound through a phone speaker (need to be Bluetooth connected or using headphones) which doesn’t really make sense, and is surprising that this hasn’t been fixed yet. Overall good app, recommend downloading for fellow musicians

### 2/5 — Not a good choice of words

*2022-12-30, version 1.0.9*

This app is great and all but to use any of the good features you instantly get a pop up window that displays 3 options to select from. $7.50/month if you pay annually for $80.99, $11.99 month 2 month OR “No thanks, I don’t want to improve as a musician” whoever thought that wording was the BEST for the last option is wild. Some of us want to improve as musicians but don’t have $90 or even $12 to be able to afford the premium features. I’m sure just a simple “No, Thanks” would be been good enough lol like y’all are mad petty for that.

### 4/5 — Would be great if it was a one time payment

*2022-08-05, version 1.0.9*

The app itself is great, but it is truly madness to believe people will pay £87 a year for access to only some limited features.
Sort it out and I think you will have a winner.

### 2/5 — Cool app but the sound isn’t working

*2022-06-22, version 1.0.9*

I downloaded this app today and the sound is already not working the premium thing is quite a disappointment because garage band has the same thing for free. I liked the chord progressions but please fix the sound.

### 2/5 — It’s great- but not very many options-

*2022-03-12, version 1.0.9*

Hiya! I got this app to improve as a musician- but Why would we need premium just to improve. It’s stupid- I’m really close to deleting the app- you should take away the “premium” thing- it’s stupid and not very many people will succeed as a musician with the paid premium- that’s all for now-

### 3/5 — Cannot use fully

*2021-11-27, version 1.0.9*

Good app but you are unable to purchase premium or use the trail. Button does not work.

### 2/5 — ChordChord

*2021-10-03, version 1.0.9*

This app crashes quite a bit. Make sure you don’t get caught in the $90 subscription that you automatically get enrolled into. There are no warnings.

### 2/5 — nope.

*2021-08-09, version 1.0.9*

i liked this app at the beginning but then the audio cut out. i redownloaded it and checked my volume level multiple times. still nothing. i know it’s not my device cuz i got on youtube and tiktok, played a video, and heard sound. the whole purpose of this app is like 50% sound. it helped with the melody aswell as the cords. lowkey disappointed so that’s why it gets 2 stars.

### 4/5 — Helping me write my feelings into music

*2021-07-13, version 1.0.9*

I’m loving this app and I’ve only used for a couple hours today! It’s really helping me with the music I wanna write and helps me find a good melody for my lyrics

### 4/5 — Amazing idea you guys have here

*2021-07-10, version 1.0.9*

This is definitely an amazing concept you guys created here, but I do agree with another reviewer, it would be 100x better if there were more instruments such a guitar, violin. But I believe you guys will build upon this cause you guys have a banger of an app and I see great potential with this for sure!!! It’s helped me the past day to get ideas of chord progression for my own beats!! You guys did an amazing job but still have plenty of room to grow!!!

### 1/5 — No sound

*2021-06-24, version 1.0.9*

Just installed this app on a brand new iPhone and no sound.

### 1/5 — App Insults you for not Paying $90/year

*2021-06-14, version 1.0.9*

Almost every option is behind a paywall that says "No thanks, I don't want to improve as a musician." next to the decline option. They're charging $7.50/month for more patterns and sounds. I don't support this kind of predatory app design.

### 1/5 — App has no sound for me but sound on the website :/

*2021-04-12, version 1.0.9*

No sound will come from the app so I have to use the website still :/

### 2/5 — The webpage is better than the app

*2021-03-29, version 1.0.9*

Works great...until your phone goes to sleep. Then it shuts off the app. Not a good thing if you're trying to practice alongside it.

### 1/5 — Charged me for the full year automatically???

*2021-03-06, version 1.0.9*

I went to try the subscription that had a seven day free trial and found that I was automatically charged $89.99 when I checked my bank account. Not cool. Sad this otherwise great app turned out to be a scam. Trying to dispute the charge with apple. Be warned.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Very unsatisfactory customer service

*2024-07-09, version 1.0.9*

I never normally write reviews, but I purchased the premium a year ago and rarely used the application afterwards as I’d found much better apps and systems for finding good chord progressions. I didn’t know there was an auto renewal process and didn’t receive any lead up emails about it (I forgot this app existed), normally good companies will send follow up emails to customers who they see aren’t interacting with their product much and also a notice for auto renewal. I got none of that and was charged $99, I saw this on my bank statement the following day and emailed them asking if I could please refund and cancel as I haven’t used this app in so long and I had no idea about the auto renewal. Per their policy they don’t allow this even if it’s by one day, I’m cancelling immediately and I’m so irritated that they wouldn’t even allow me to pay for this month and refund the rest. It’s how these companies get you, and don’t truly care for their customers experience whatsoever.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2024-02-27, version 1.0.9*

Bought the premium subscription to transfer midi data. Saved 10 progressions that I would end up using. Open app the next day to start the process and all the progressions are gone. Went straight to cancel the subscription, are you kidding me?

### 1/5 — Crazy

*2023-05-05, version 1.0.9*

Crazy that the app times out after about 20 seconds. As soon as you start playing your phones already off! Useless.

### 1/5 — add sound

*2023-04-22, version 1.0.9*

i’ve downloaded this multiple times, please for the love of god add sound

### 1/5 — Silence

*2022-11-18, version 1.0.9*

There’s no sound bro 💀

### 1/5 — No sound

*2022-07-16, version 1.0.9*

No sound.

### 1/5 — Abandonware

*2022-04-24, version 1.0.9*

Way to let an app die. Charge too much and then wonder why nobody wants to pay. You shot yourself in the foot right from the start.
A good idea gone to waste.

### 1/5 — I want to upgrade but it won’t let me.

*2022-04-07, version 1.0.9*

I want to upgrade but the upgrades in-app are noninteractable for some reason

### 1/5 — Apparently broken

*2021-09-19, version 1.0.9*

I’ve just got the app because it seemed amazing, but when I first opened it the app crashed. I’ve re-downloaded it but the same problem is still happening. Please fix this.

### 1/5 — Bad Attitude

*2021-08-20, version 1.0.9*

The app works fine. It’s nothing fancy so it’s hard to mess up. It gets one star because the developers apparently think this app is groundbreaking enough to imply that you don’t want to become a better musician if you don’t pay $7.50 a month for the same features Garage Band and several other apps gives you for free. It’s a bullying tactic that will lose more customers than it’ll gain, much like myself.

Have been useful enjoyed

### 5/5 — Wonderful App, but almost everything is for the upgrade

*2020-04-29, version 1.0.9*

It’s nice, and it gives me a idea for starting music. It has almost everything for the upgrade when I just need an idea. It also still crashes a lot and it’s really annoying

### 5/5 — Good app I guess

*2020-02-08, version 1.0.7*

New Review:
They gave me 3 months free of the Premium service so I guess this app is good. Thanks!

OLD REVIEW:
I got the free trial and not even an hour into using it for inspiration the app crashed. I launched it and it was asking me to subscribe again. The subscription was still active and I never cancelled it.

I’m never using this app again as it could’ve scammed me out of my money if I didn’t have a free trial. Horrible app.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2020-01-28, version 1.0.3*

The initial issue I had with the app was entirely resolved, and handled wonderfully by the CC team.

### 5/5 — The best chord generator I’ve used

*2020-01-24, version 1.0.3*

Wow!! That’s the app I’ve waited for so much time! 🎉🎉🎉 thanks to the developers for the inspiration. Would love to have more than 4 chords in the progression :)

### 5/5 — Amazing App

*2020-01-16, version 1.0.3*

truly such an amazing app for any singer / songwriter or anyone just learning to play piano

### 4/5 — Fun App But Too Costly For Limited Features

*2024-02-08, version 1.0.9*

I commend the developer for creating a useful tool for quick chord arrangements over a beat. The best perk of the app in my opinion is the various arpeggiated chord playbacks.

Where the app falls short is that it lacks the features that would make it great. For example..

1) There’s no way to limit the custom chords to chords that play well alongside your existing chords.

2) There’s no option to construct actual song layouts. I find it odd that the app limits you to just 4 chords rather than allowing you to build & arrange a series of stacked progressions similar to what you’d see in a DAW.

3) There’s no back button or history feature for instances where you accidentally hit the wrong button. I’ve lost whatever I was working on multiple times because of this. I’ve also lost progressions that I had just got finished recording & was in the process of saving… as I’m typing in the name of the file I accidentally hit the wrong part of the screen & the entire saved file becomes gone for good.

4) You can’t record while singing over top of the progression. It only records what’s playing. You can play notes on the keyboard though (they record).

5) Being able to play notes on the keyboard display is a handy feature (allows you to explore melodies overtop of the chord progression that’s playing), but because the keys are so thin & small (even on my iPhone Pro Max’s larger screen), I end up hitting the wrong notes (keys) nearly half of the time. This issue could be remedied by allowing a zoomed in view of the keyboard.

6) When a chord progression is being played, the app displays the notes of each chord in blue color. While this is a nice feature, it’s very interfering when trying to play melody notes on the keyboard. An option to quickly disable & re-enable this auto display of chord notes would help with this.

7) Sometimes when I go to save a progression, it doesn’t actually save despite it saying that it’s been saved. I even tried refreshing the screen where saved progressions are listed, but for whatever reason the progression just wouldn’t save. This has happened a couple of times already, despite only using the app for a brief time so far.

8) There have been a few times where the key transposing dropdown doesn’t work. When I go to change the key of the active progression, it fails to update the key change; while other times it works just fine.

Because of these issues & limitations, I can’t see the justification for the steep cost of this app. Especially since you can pretty much do everything this app can do (& more) with GarageBand (which is free & includes more advanced features). The one thing I like about smaller apps with specific purposes is they are often simpler & quicker to work in. But there’s only so much sacrifice I’m able to accept, especially with apps this costly.

If the developer would fix the mentioned issues & make this app more customizable, user friendly, & useful as an actual songwriting tool; I could maybe see paying $6 / month. But for what it currently is, & the developer’s seeming lack of replies to user comments, bug reports & feature requests; I think I’m gonna have to pass on this. Especially since GB seems to cover these bases & more.

On an end note, I agree with the numerous users who find your “I’d rather avoid improving as a musician” call-to-action pay screen message, to be quite annoying & pushy. The fact you’ve left it up despite numerous sentiments similar to mine, implies to me that you either don’t read these comments or don’t care. I’m not trying to be rude, just providing honest feedback.
