### 4/5 — Good app but would benefit with some tweaks

*2017-03-29, version 1.10.9*

1) Volume is too low! I have the pitch training app and it's much louder than this. Why?

2) Only four triad types. Major, minor, dim, aug

Though these are the most common I'd love to see the addition of a couple of others. In my world Sus2 and Sus4 triads are very common. Would love these to be added. Or better yet see #3

3) Allow for creation of custom triads. This way I can create my own triads that are missing from this.

All in all a useful app. The volume issue is a BIG one however.

### 4/5 — Triad tutor

*2016-05-09*

Great for learning inversion by ear.

### 4/5 — A little bit buggy, not shading its excellence

*2013-05-22, version 1.4*

I like it

### 4/5 — Effective!

*2012-07-06, version 1.3*

This is a great app - very simple but perfect for training your ears for harmony

### 5/5 — Human

*2012-03-05, version 1.3*

I love this App Easy ear training on the go

### 4/5 — Great Series

*2012-02-21, version 1.3*

Simple and effective. Goes great with interval trainer and step and a half.

### 5/5 — Terrific app

*2012-01-08, version 1.3*

I am a conservatory trained musician and I think this app is really great! I especially like the option of drilling the chord inversions. Great job!

### 5/5 — I'm so glad I bougt this one

*2012-01-03, version 1.3*

I've hesitated for so long. I have only 8 dollars left in my account and the Amplitube fender is on sale for 7 dollars. It's a hard decision and finally I choose this app and the Chordelia seventh heaven. I'll never regret this. Now I can discern between major and minor which is the ability I've been dreaming for years. I'm very confident and going to the next level, hoping to unlock the next difficult level. Thanks man, you've done a great job.

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2011-12-11, version 1.3*

I can now distinguish between dim and aug triads much better. Very valuable little app!

### 5/5 — I hear it!!!

*2011-09-13, version 1.3*

Very helpful app. I use it as a study aid for my ear training class. I'm actually starting to differentiate chord qualities (m,d,etc). Definitely worth the money.

### 4/5 — Musician

*2011-08-26, version 1.3*

Very helpful! Very easy to use. This app has helped improved my playing by improving my ability to hear chords better.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Too expensive for too little content

*2017-08-20, version 1.10.9*

I have really enjoyed the pitch trainer app. Although expensive I have found it useful. But to build this app around 4 triads and charge a premium price for it is unacceptable and very disappointing. I would expect a full range of chords up to altered 13ths for this price.

### 1/5 — rip off

*2015-12-17, version 1.10.9*

I thought by purchasing this app I would have access to a variety of chords like 7th and diminished, etc., It's no the case. also trying to customize this program is a super pain. I wasted my money, Apple does not have a refund policy and the company just refers you to Apple. There is nothing Pro about his app!

### 1/5 — Don't give it houseroom

*2014-06-17, version 1.10.8*

Won't even open. Useless. Minus stars from me.

### 2/5 — Basically a giant ad

*2016-08-16, version 1.10.9*

Very little functionality here. It's just a funnel to you to buy the pro version.

### 2/5 — Doesn't do much

*2016-02-04, version 1.10.9*

Basically the free version plays minor and major chords. That is it, I was sure at times the app isn't playing me the same chord as I was tested on.
Based on the performance I'd look elsewhere.

### 2/5 — It works, but is it fair value?

*2015-03-25, version 1.10.9*

It works and does what it says it will do. But the price seems very steep when there is not a lot of content here and you'll soon need to purchase more similarly expensive apps to continue your training. It would be more worthwhile if the apps by this company were bundled together and offered at a reasonable price. As it is it seems a bit greedy.

### 3/5 — Ok

*2019-08-31, version 1.10.9*

Guitar sounds are actually piano. Otherwise OK but for £8 needs a lot more polish.

### 3/5 — "wrong answer" pop-up glitchy

*2012-01-18, version 1.3*

The "wrong answer" pop-up in test mode doesn't always work -- spontaneously arpegiates, just doesn't play each chord at all, or plays a shower of chords.

Naming root, 1st, and 2nd inversions, a, b, and c is obvious, but, a little annoying -- why the new nomenclature?

### 3/5 — NOT for iOS 3.x

*2011-05-17, version 1.2*

As stated in description, if you're stuck w/ iOS version 3.x don't buy.
Selection buttons are a mess. If 2 chord types are selected they are misplaced but generally usable. If all 4 chord types are selected it's a REAL mess, and one of the types is missing completely.
Apart from that, this is a VERY useful app... w/ the following issues:
- Answer buttons are small, and easy to miss. With larger fingers you often have to try to answer more than once.
- In test mode, when an error is made the correct answers played by the app REALLY should mirror the option settings by default... meaning that if no arp is selected NO arp should be played in the corrected options. The speed on the error pop up isn't variable and it just distracts from the task at hand. (It would be really cool if there were an option to play the arp ONLY WHEN DESIRED on the error popup.)
- On iOS 3.x training mode is a complete mess so I can't say a lot about it, BUT, based on what I see it's far too limited. Should be possible to repeat chords and select arp WHEN DESIRED on the fly. Then it would be possible to MUCH more effectively dig into the qualities of the chords and hear them deeply. The user needs much more control in general, but especially in training mode.
- Another bonus in training mode would be an on the fly ability to play only the lowest note of the inversion.
- The samples could be slightly higher quality for this application. They're good, but especially in lower registers either EQ and/or the harmonics of the fundementals get a little sloppy. This is not such a big deal for melodic or simple intervallic qualities, BUT when trying to listen deeply into the more complex harmonics of a full chord (or when trying to focus through the harmonics to the lowest sounding tone) it's a huge. (That's why it's so cool to do this stuff on a healthy grand piano... not that it's reasonable to expect that here... it could just be a bit better.)
- Lastly, and least important: For the price and current functionality, extended chord forms would be a reasonable addition. This COULD appear as a seperate app, but it would seem unecessary to block out the options long term.

### 4/5 — Great but could be better

*2017-08-02, version 1.10.9*

I really like this app and recommend it. If you make a mistake you have the option to hear your choice and the original one. Unfortunately both are not at the original pitch. But things are different when you are an octave away. For example I have a bias towards thinking higher pitches being minor and lower ones being diminished. So when I make a mistake I would like to hear it at the same pitch as before

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app, responsive service

*2014-07-18, version 1.10.8*

Ear training takes a lot of practice but this app has streamlined the process quite a bit for me. Pro version lets me pick and choose whichever chord forms (and inversions) I want and drill and compare endlessly. I had some issues installing on my prior phone and the developer was very responsive. App works perfectly on my new 5s. It currently plays piano sounds but would love if it also offered guitar.

### 5/5 — Chordella

*2014-01-25, version 1.10.5*

For musicians wanting to sharpen their ear training skills in a program developed to enhance the learning experience, I would give it a two thumbs up winner.

### 5/5 — A must have for musicians

*2014-01-10, version 1.10.5*

All of the Easy Ear Training apps should be on the required list for musicians. This one is no exception.

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2013-12-30, version 1.10.5*

Definitely worth buying. After only a few weeks I can hear progress in my ear training.

### 5/5 — Definitely worth it

*2013-12-26, version 1.10.5*

This app has multiple features that will help you become a better musician. It's training mode has very definitive and understandable information, and it's testing mode allows you to see your own improvement, with difficulty levels ranging from beginner to very advanced.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2013-11-06, version 1.10.5*

A fantastic app for improving your aural skills!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2013-08-04, version 1.4*

I have been using this app a lot and it has really helped my musicianship. It's amazing how clearly you can hear music with a little training! I can't recommend it enough.

If I were being picky, the quality of the sounds could be improved and the general design could be updated to look like other iPhone apps. It's definitely worth the money though!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2012-12-11, version 1.3*

Convenient for me to practice chord inversions on the run on iPhone. Very good flexibility in setting up which chords & inversions, number of repeats, broken chord on or off etc. Very nice adjunct to aural training for music students.

### 5/5 — Greats

*2012-11-12, version 1.3*

!

### 5/5 — Brill for a non key board player

*2012-03-13, version 1.3*

Really helping me to train my ears to listen carefully and interpret accurately.
I have become aware of how I am less sensitive to high and low pitched notes in chord and learning to hear them now
Great to use in conjunction with interval training.. Eventually I will move on to '7 heaven'
Thanks this is fun and helps me a lot.
