### 4/5 — I’d love to be able to load it in AUM

*2021-06-28*

- since all the midi backdoor plugging can get confusing. It’s the makings of a good sequencer core, for certain work, but all the menu work makes it… less fun, and harder to move the things you’ve composed into production. At least for me.

### 4/5 — Powerful and arcane

*2021-05-08, version 2.5.2*

This app could really benefit from some kind of introductory material - a tutorial, an interactive walkthrough or whatever, and a freemium model, in my opinion. This thing is amazingly powerful and criminally obscure, if only users had a chance to better understand it before buying I’m sure much more people would start to use the app.

### 4/5 — Chords won’t sound

*2021-03-25, version 2.5.2*

Hello, the melody and arpeggios work but the chords are aren’t sounding. Could you help me with this please?

### 4/5 — Please aad midi clock

*2020-12-21*

Très bonne application , mais il manque le faite de pouvoir entrer le nombre de répétitions de chaque section .
J’espère que le développeur M’entendra

### 4/5 — A fun tool for sketching that needs a few features

*2020-08-10*

This plus any daw or app like Korg gadget can lay the foundation for some amazingly quick and professional beats. I mainly use this as a MIDI out tool. The in app sounds are decent, just not what I want to use. Waiting on some updates like BPM swing.

### 3/5 — Good but missing AUV3 support

*2020-06-10, version 2.5.2*

Good creative and inspiring tool but the lack of AUV3 support limits it s use IMHO.

### 4/5 — Interesting!

*2020-05-26*

Intuitive but deep. Only, I really miss a swing parameter, that’d be a nice addition

### 3/5 — How do I use this?

*2020-04-16, version 2.5.2*

I can’t figure it out. Is there a manual? Chords don’t make sounds. Seems to do a lot but too hard to figure out.

### 4/5 — Genius design.

*2019-11-27*

I simply love the simplicity, and yet depth. If the developer would add audio recording to this app, it would be 100 percent perfect.

I would gladly give full 5 star review if it were possible to record audio.

### 3/5 — I want to fall in love

*2019-05-12*

I have reached out to the developers so hopefully I will update my star rating soon but as of this moment I cannot use portrait view on my phone making it a non-functional app for me. Also, when using this on my iPad, it fall out of sync constantly with Ableton Link and that is not so awesome

### 3/5 — Useful

*2019-04-28, version 2.5.2*

Useful, although ableton link implementation is not as good as expected, start phase misses often

### 5/5 — Unlock your creative potential!

*2019-03-16*

This app is just awesome! The creative possibilities are endless and it’s very easy to use and very well thought out. It’s so easy to create something useful and quickly. You can work directly in the app with the included sounds or control your DAW’s instruments with MIDI out. Lastly, I sent an e-mail to the dev and he responded under 24 hours. Support this dev!

### 3/5 — Einfach und fröhliches Melodie Wischen

*2019-02-16*

### 5/5 — Zoom feature needed

*2019-01-20, version 2.5.2*

It would be a great feature if it has an option to pinch zoom to see all the notes on small screens like iPhone.

The app is awesome! Congrats, devs!

### 1/5 — Melodic Fail!

*2020-07-29, version 2.5.2*

This app has great potential, but utterly fails to deliver on its basic promise. The app allows you to pre-define chords, be it a major, minor, dominant etc. then, in the arpeggio (chord) section of the app, it will automatically create chords and the inversions, so you can just tap in a two, three, four, five or six voice chord, and it will play the proper notes of that chord and allow you to quickly Invert them. However, in the melodic section, the thirds and sevenths do not adjust to sharp or flat notes! Are you kidding me! So if you create a chord in the melodic section, putting a note in the third and seventh slot, as the chords progress through your predefined major to minor pattern, the thirds and sevenths do not change to flat despite your predefining those chords as major or minor. That means your chord section is going to be out of tune with your melodic section by a half step. Duh! You will have a minor chord playing in the chord section and a major chord or melody playing in the melody section. How retarded is that! TOTAL WASTE IF MONEY !!! Rip off!!! Don’t buy this app. Who are the music theory morons that gave this app a five star rating that cannot recognize a dissonant interval if it punched them in the ear?! Who are these dim wits on YouTube that give “sound test bedroom tutorials” on the use of this app, but did not catch this obvious and glaring error! Don’t trust anyone with an affiliate link in the description panel on their YouTube channel.

### 1/5 — No sound output

*2020-01-29, version 2.5.2*

Absolute waste of money. How can I get a refund? There is NO sound output.

### 1/5 — No sound

*2019-01-02, version 2.5.2*

It has no output sound...

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work on 7+

*2018-08-30, version 2.3.0*

Pressing on the chord section or any of the melody sections doesn’t do anything on my iPhone 7+. Only the play buttons work. Expensive app to not work

### 1/5 — No chord control

*2018-07-19*

Could be useful if more control over chords ie inversions etc

**Developer response:** The new chord selector interface was introduced in the last update. You can now select a scale of your chord progression and see which chord types fit the scale. You can also transpose the whole chord progression easily. Please take a look at it and update your review :)

### 2/5 — Buggy. Sound stops working.

*2022-07-24*

The sound consistently stops working...it gets staticky and fades. General audio on my iPad starts becoming delayed in other apps and slowly clears up. Can’t really work with it long enough to be any use.

### 2/5 — Overpriced at 9.99

*2020-12-21*

This is a fun app but I think the limitations of the interface stop it being more than that. Even if the interface allowed more creativity, perhaps the always compatible nature of the chord progression will make the chord options sound rather similar.

As a developer myself I think it’s reasonable to charge for software. As a buyer I look at what I get for my hard earned cash. If I had tried this before buying I would have bought something useful instead.

### 2/5 — und?

*2019-03-11*

eigentlich eine schöne app. aber jetzt wollte ich mal was im 3/4 takt machen, aber das funktioniert nicht. bitte korrigieren

**Developer response:** Hi. Thanks for the feedback. There are no such things as bars and time signature in the ChordFlow. The app is build as a step sequencer. In the left upper corner of the melody and arpeggio editor grids there is a button that open a dialog view where you can adjust the length and rate params of the sequence. The are triplet rates as well. Best wishes, Dmitry

### 2/5 — Not colorblind friendly, Please add tutorials and more examples

*2018-10-31*

Please add a user manual, much more example songs (more than 4) and perhaps an updated video tutorial.

I find the app unintuitive and very difficult to do anything aside from tweak an existing song.

Additionally, there is heavy use of color-based ui that encodes information. This is a novel idea but it is absolutely horrible for users who are color blind.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for the feedback.

I am working on an updated version of the tutorial which will cover the new chord selector.

About colors. Could you please contact me at email: dmitry@dmitryklochkov.com. We could discuss in more details possible solutions for this issue. Maybe some alternative colour theme will help.

### 2/5 — More work needed

*2018-05-23*

I like the lay out and the function of the app. Arppegiator is very cool. However, I was looking for something that will also suggest me some chords so I can build new chord progressions easily. Scrolling up and down without knowing which chord might work with what is longwinded process. Can we have chord suggestions function please?

**Developer response:** The new chord selector interface was introduced in the last update. You can now select a scale of your chord progression and see which chord types fit the scale. Please take a look at it and update your review :)

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Features needed please

*2022-09-14*

This app is great. Please could you add a small keyboard to the chord section so when I tap on a chord it shows the notes. And when you press play it shows the arp triggered notes so I can see what’s going on.

Also, when tapping on chords if that could also send midi data that would be nice. Love the app

### 5/5 — A real hidden gem of an app

*2021-05-15*

What’s happened? There’s hardly any mention of this extraordinary piece of software. If you are at all musical but frustratingly lacking the skills of conventional composition you have to try this. It was such fun when I realized what this could do I didn’t stop smiling. It’s not often a piece of coding has me in stitches but there you go. I have many music apps but not many I get as much satisfaction from than ChordFlow. Only Chordbot is in the same league.
Full marks for being able to output the channels to different midi instruments and Audiobus connectivity.
Note to Dmitry -
1. I think you should be able to alter the main chords within the arpeggio editor
2. Get some serious promotion

### 5/5 — WOW!

*2020-11-05*

Needed something to pump chords into my song tracks and this did not disappoint. Nice surprise to be able to make my own arpeggios. Plus it is a heap of fun. Routing directly to other apps‘ instruments also a bonus. Love it!

### 5/5 — Purely AWSOMENESS

*2020-08-17, version 2.5.2*

One of the best app for musicians

### 5/5 — I was not ready!

*2020-02-01, version 2.5.2*

This app makes me so happy! Now I am a composer! )))
Really, with such apps I do not need expensive desktop software for music composition! But, with all this amazing apps I still need to learn the music theory! (((

### 5/5 — Simple but effective

*2019-07-23*

It doesn't matter how many features an app has if you ain't getting the result. Chord flow, although basic, gives instant gratification.

### 5/5 — Great! Needs Link Start/Stop please.

*2019-07-19*

This is a terrific app. It’s one of the most intuitive-yet-innovative sequencing apps I’ve seen.

It would benefit from Ableton Link Start/Stop support, however. Not a big enough deal to deny 5 stars. You can always export Midi; it’s just sometimes not ideal for workflow.

### 5/5 — Great composition tool!

*2019-07-17*

This app is very useful for sketching out a song. There’s a slight learning curve but once you figure it out it’s easy to build your song parts with melody and harmony, without having to mess with a more complicated DAW like GarageBand. Most importantly tweaking your chords/notes is fast and easy which lets you iterate fast. And all the chords you need are available.
Some nice to have additions would be:
* Add a basic drum machine sequencer
* Allow the melody to reach lower notes (basically so you could create a bass line with it)
* A few more sounds
* Being able to use voices in amounts similar to the notes of the chord for arpeggiation (so 3 notes for a C chord, and 4 for a C7 for instance) without having to change voices.

Keep up the good work!
