### 4/5 — Great but not for Germans ;)

*2026-02-17, version 3.0.6*

Great program, all I ever wanted to show my students keys, scales and chords. But I’m missing a setting for German note names. I read “H” but hear “B,” and I read “Bb” but hear “B.” A solfège setting (e.g., for France or Italy) is also missing. With these features, it would be an instant buy for me. Unfortunately I can’t use it in class this way.

### 3/5 — Einfach nervig…

*2025-06-08, version 3.0.0*

### 4/5 — Amazing Fun App!

*2025-05-04*

This app was a shot in the dark but now after a few weeks of understanding how it works, WOW! I am blown away at its potential for music creation and it connects to my MOXF88 via usb. Unfortunately there is a small bug when buying music packs because I had to keep purchasing the license for them to download correctly— Hopefully this bug has been addressed and Im not on the hook for duplicate payments. Im only giving it 4 out of 5 starts because of the mentioned issue. Chordio Rocks!

### 3/5 — Unstable

*2024-11-09, version 2.8.3*

Very useful tool. However, on my iPad it is flakey; it crashes, frequently, losing all input. I haven’t used it enough on my MacBook to see if it does the same there.

### 3/5 — After payment issue

*2024-11-05, version 2.8.3*

Even the though the app works, issue is that the 'premium package deal" still reappears ( strange ) while use; not only I paid for it the uninstall button is not there to remove the app off my laptop

### 3/5 — Well, good idea,

*2024-08-29, version 2.8.2*

I like the idea of the app. It could be a good tool for saving your advanced chords for later reference. However some things are really not so good. First of all sound quality, variety and musical quality of the backing tracks is very bad. just listen to Jazz Cymbal not grooving it’s static and just not nice. Virtually no variety in backing tracks and what is there sounds mostly very cheap. the volume slider of the drums or keys is not working. So the whole section is a disappointment. Second problem: if you have a shorter duration than one bar those chord cells should be accordingly shorter. But they are not. they are as long as one bar cells. Which is optically, practically misleading and useless. The click sound is the worst kind of pitchy cheap click sound I have heard in my whole life. Maybe the app is great for studying chords. some nice insights. But I’m sorry it is nothing I would practice to as a play along for longer than 3 seconds. Ireal pro does everything there.
I’m sorry for the honest opinion but I mean good and I hope this could be sorted, so that the idea gets the nice sound design it deserves

### 3/5 — Eharmonics? Change scale

*2024-07-10, version 2.7.9*

Some of the exercises have the wrong chords E.g, should be GbMaj7 instead of F#M7.

Also, cannot change the key for the exercises and progressions. Should be able to change the key for any progression.

This is a severe limitation.

Am I missing something here or not finding this? Changing the key only changes in the staff, not the chord progressions.

### 5/5 — Great little (BIG) App!

*2024-05-04, version 2.7.9*

Just what I was looking for...

### 5/5 — Chordio rocks!

*2024-04-13, version 2.7.8*

I watch a lot of YouTube music content, and I have seen this program in action countless times, but never knew what it was. I finally found it, and it is excellent! i installed it, and sure enough, it does everything that I have seen on YouTube. The ease of use of the program is outstanding -- this is exactly what I was looking for!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2023-11-23, version 2.7.2*

It's become a key resource in teaching chord progressions to my students. Its effectiveness in demonstarating and elucidating music concepts is amazing.

Great jo to the Development Team-Keep it up!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Constant interruption

*2026-04-19, version 3.1.0*

What's the point of offering free features if an "upgrade to premium" prompt CONSTANTLY cuts the audio, the MIDI input and interrupts the flow? I can't experience what the app has to offer for more than a minute at a time. I can't record chords ideas because of this. Bad pushy design.

### 1/5 — It would be nice if you don’t ask me to pay every 2 minutes

*2026-02-07, version 3.0.6*

.

### 1/5 — Non stop bothering for a £15 purchase

*2025-08-08, version 3.0.1*

If the developer wanted to charge a reasonable price I might consider buying but for now the free version is unusable because of non stop persevering for purchases

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2025-07-12, version 3.0.1*

Adding chords just doesn't work. Connected to my Ymaha keyboard through midi - that works. However, the dragged a chord name to the composition area doesn't work. Pity.

### 1/5 — Schade!

*2025-04-04, version 2.9.5*

App Ende 2023 mit allen Paketen komplett gekauft
- funktionierte nur ein Jahr.
Sobald ich ein Chord Pack öffne,stürzt die App ab.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2025-01-20, version 2.8.4*

It keeps giving messages to buy the app but I did already

### 1/5 — Pity about the buy popup

*2024-11-07, version 2.8.3*

Looks interesting. Impossible yo tell with a popup every 30 secs or so for purchase. Pity.

### 1/5 — Almost nothing works that has been promised

*2024-10-10, version 2.8.3*

Much has been promised to use with Chordio. But almost nothing works. There is ny synchronisation between iPad and Mac, import a file? No way possible. Why? The answers appears in a small window that disappears within 0.5 seconds (a world record), the sound of Chordio (piano) is horrible and after the third chord it forgets the first part of the arpeggio. On an iPad the keys are too small. I could continue, but I leave it here.

### 2/5 — Generally Ok, button big disadvantage

*2026-01-22, version 3.0.6*

Generally this app would be a good tool and it has a lot of helpful skills. But: The virtual keyboard has some major bugs which makes the app nearly unusable. Even the standard 88 key keyboard starts with with a G# in bass. That is definitive wrong. But the main bug is the 61 key onscreen keyboard. A regular 61 keyboard starts with C in Bass and ends with C in Treble. The Chordio Keyboard starts with F (only half on screen), the first whole key shown in Bass is F#. On Treble side it ends with B. A real 61 Keyboard ends with C. The chordio images in the App Store don’t show the keyboard layout what the real app does. Store I reported this bug, but unfortunately the developers seem not to be interested in fixing this. Because of this I rate the app with poor 2 stars. Otherwise I would rate it with 5 stars.

### 2/5 — Looks impressive - but MIDI problem

*2024-03-17, version 2.7.6*

MIDI input is not true to the original composition. Also chord recognition needs improvement.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Lovely

*2026-08-24, version 3.2.2*

I have been using Chordio for a while now after the previous app I was using became problematic. Chordio has been rock solid. I only have one request. In addition to having Chordio as a stand alone app, it will be nice to have it as a plugin

### 5/5 — Best of its kind

*2026-07-03, version 3.1.6*

Chordio is by far the best app of its kind. I use it every day in the studio as a writing tool for work. The creator is also super friendly and passionate and continuing to make it even better. 6/5 stars!

### 5/5 — UPDATE

*2026-06-26, version 3.1.4*

Thanks for the update. I haven't explored it fully yet, but the addition of the hold button alone is a fantastic improvement to Chordio. I have complex software like Synfire/Scaler for theory, but this little app is very usable, and I use it much more than the complex software. It's just so easy to use, has a great interface, chord recognition and much more.

### 5/5 — Chordio is the app I’ve been looking for !

*2026-02-26, version 3.0.6*

What a great app with such a useful set of tools for learning. Connecting to a DAW is so simple too. It also has a good piano sounds but I like going through Ableton live to use my piano of choice while working in Chordio.

### 5/5 — Can’t access my purchase

*2025-07-17, version 3.0.1*

### 5/5 — Playing By Ear

*2025-05-10, version 2.9.9*

Ive played the piano by ear for 40yrs. Now I can see and learn to understand what I am playing.

### 5/5 — Amazing Fun App!

*2025-05-10*

This app was a shot in the dark but now after a few weeks of understanding how it works, WOW! I am blown away at its potential for learning music creation and it connects to my MOXF88 via usb. Unfortunately there is a small bug when buying music packs because I had to keep purchasing the license for them to download correctly— Hopefully this bug has been addressed and Im not on the hook for duplicate payments. Im only giving it 4 out of 5 starts because of the mentioned issue………UPDATE: I’ve changed my rating to 5 stars because it seems that the developer has fixed the issue Chordio Rocks!!

### 5/5 — For an absolute beginner!

*2025-03-15, version 2.9.3*

I wanted something that would show me if i hit the right keys as I teach myself piano, and this totally does the trick. Really helping me learn to hit the notes on the page right on the keyboard.

### 5/5 — Super

*2025-01-17, version 2.8.4*

Wonderful application to see and try and learn Music.

Compose Progressions and push them into your favourite DAW like Garage Band or Logic & others.

A lot of nice features like showing all played chords on the fly and their corresponding scales and much more...

What do You want more.

### 5/5 — Excellent for learning

*2024-07-10, version 2.8.0*

After trying many similar - this is exactly what I need. Using Korg mini studio to input it does everything I need and more. Support was excellent when I asked a question. Try the free version as the upgrade and packs are excellent value.
