It doesn’t have pretty colors, or multiple text styles, or music, or lovely background pictures that some do. It doesn’t come with ‘built in’ devotions, or daily ‘encouraging’ words. It is easily amendable, easily navigated, and loaded with great reminders from GOD’S WORD, which is where genuine prayer resides! The User can decide on how to pursue devoted prayer and is given options for adding, changing and modifying text, prayers and bible versions. For me, it’s a FIVE STAR app, with one small exception…at times, it is not clear how to make certain changes happen and take effect, but once learned it is everything a devotee of prayer could want. It truly puts the User “in the driver’s seat” and eliminates the temptation to let the app dictate your prayer time. ### 4/5 — GOTTEN TO LOVE IT *2023-01-10, version 2.8.0* I had a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to make it useful. I really love it now that I figured out how to add to it and generally make it do what I want. ### 4/5 — Needs to Sync *2022-01-22* The developers indicated - quite some time ago - that the ability to sync with other devices was coming soon. Still waiting. Not everyone uses Dropbox, nor should we have to. As great as this app could be, the absence of the ability to sync is a “deal beaker” for me and for many, many others. Neither will I input information in two devices, nor will I pay for an external cloud storage service. **Developer response:** The data storage options that Prayer Prompter provides its users makes the programming time to develop iCloud syncing extremely difficult to predict. The cost could run as high as $20,000. We suggest you use our manual Dropbox Backup and Restore feature. It has been my mainstay to remain on target, to add people and requests. And it’s always with me. Awesome app! *2021-02-18* This app helped me organize my prayers, keep them in one place (yes - including those “I’ll pray for you” types, and be accountable to my prayer practice. When I am anxious about anything at all, I log it in the appropriate folder. Then I set aside a few minutes a day to go through the prayer list I have accumulated and bring my concerns to God. It makes me feel good and at peace just knowing I’m praying about these issues. Most are personal, some are prayers other people asked me to pray for, and some are social/political issues of the day that bother me. I believe that when God touches my heart regarding an issue and gives me a burden for it, it’s my duty & privilege to take the battle on in prayer. This app also tracks how often I pray, how long I pray, and how many hours total I used the app as a device/ guide to pray. I only keep a log of my prayer points as a guide. And then I pray about them as the Spirit leads. I log the answered prayers, too, so that I can see God’s responses. What are you waiting for? I love that I can add my own prayers and subjects and change the version if I want to. This has truly changed how I pray. I know that I am praying God’s will because I am praying God’s Word back to Him. I have been using it for 9 months and I can SEE how God is moving! Thank you for this app!! ### 5/5 — Fantastic App *2020-09-13, version 2.6.0* The only negative I can say about this app is that the design is super old school (reminds me of Sunday school Materials that were put out in the late 80's). However, the app has tons of amazing content, is really easy to use, and has really encouraged me to not only keep track of how God has been answering my prayers, but also to view prayer less selfishly. It has really great thought provoking verses and info to pray through when meditating on God and has really covered all the bases when it comes to topics you may want to pray about. Super customizable, but not complicated to use. Took me less than 5 minutes to get the hang of it. I cannot believe the capabilities within this! It is incredible what it can do. To pray through the Scriptures daily on pertinent topics and to be able to accommodate it to my own particular needs is so powerful. The app keeps me on point, reminds my failing memory, lets me know how long it has been since I have prayed for each and every request. It is in a different language and I don’t think the site is Christ-like at all. Contacted customer service and they said something about somebody having a baby?? Confusing. Why would it work for a week or two then stop. It could be just me and this works well for others - I hope so. I downloaded this app on my phone and added and "cataloged" some prayers. There's no account to set up, which was surprising - of course that meant that when I went to put it on my iPad me entries didn't follow. I tried using Dropbox backup but couldn't figure it out. I like the catalog idea but it's a bit confusing - hopefully with use it becomes more natural. Perhaps you can order the drawers in the order in which you leave entries - if not you have to remember what you placed where. Yes I live in England and American time may have been programmed in but that makes this unsuitable for a lot of the world. ### 2/5 — It would get 5 stars from me, but… *2022-11-25* I have loved this app for the several years I’ve been using it. I would have given it 5-stars if not for one thing that is a major issue to me. I use the app on both my iPhone and my iPad, but the only way to sync them is to do backups to Drop Box. While not crazy about having to use an additional app to backup, I was ok with that—that is, until a few months ago when it stopped backing up easily to my phone which is what I usually use it on. To get it to work, I have to log out of Drop Box on Prayer Prompter, then log back in to Drop Box, then since I go out of Prayer Prompter to do that and have it passworded, I have to renter the password & then back it up. I have to do this every. single. time. I am getting very tired of it. Both my phone and my ipad were purchased this year within a couple of months, but this problem only happens on my phone, the one I use almost all of the time for prayers. I tried writing to the developer about it back in July and they just gave an excuse that they didn't currently have a programmer to fix it & need to replace them and I quote “until then, you will have to continue to use the method that you have discovered. I complement you on being able to figure that out” in a very condescending tone. Well, no. After giving them an additional four plus months to make it right, I DON’T have to continue—I can start shopping around for a better method of tracking prayers. And that is what I intend to do. I might have enjoyed using this for several years, but apparently I’ve outgrown it. It is not worth having to experience tedious frustration twice a day. ### 2/5 — Improvements needed *2018-02-14* I’m not very happy with this app because I can’t change the Bible version that I enjoy. According to the HELP section, I must highlight the verse in preferred version in YouVersion first, then switch to Prayer Prompter and change the version. I’ll have to do this for every single verse I want to study. In addition, I tried contacting Prayer Prompter directly within their app and after writing about my Bible version frustrations, I was instructed to fill in the Captcha thing. I tried 11 different times and each time it failed to recognize the letters & numerals I typed! WOW, that’s just not right. I absolutely love YouVersion and will continue with them. I’m going to add Scripture Typer as well. **Developer response:** We are sorry about the problem you had with our contact form. It has been replaced with a different one that should allow you to contact us without any difficulty. We have been to planning to offer a variety of Bible versions in addition to the NASB; KJV, NKJV, ESV NIV, CSB and NLT. Contracts have been in place with the publishers for the last several years but a shortage of time and money has prevented us from implementing this feature thus far. In spite of the many five star reviews our app has received from satisfied users, it appears that your two star review is negatively impacting the number of new people who download Prayer Prompter each day. It is so easy to use and has the most features to personalize your app the best way to match your prayer habits and goals. ### 5/5 — Excellent way to organize prayer needs! *2022-10-03* I’ve been using this app for at least 7 years, maybe 10. It is a great way to organize all of the categories of prayers that a person might want to cover. I love that it starts with the ACTS prayers, and pairs scripture with them. You can customize additional catories in any way that you like. I have categories for myself, family, bible study members’ requests, home group members requests, our country, etc. You can set up the timing interval for seeing each request to be anything from every day to a much lower frequency. Prayers which have been answered can be moved to an “Answered Prayers” or “Praise” category.
