### 4/5 — Incredible on iPhone, but…

*2026-05-27, version 1.31.8*

Amazing on iPhone. Recently decided to use paid sub as my main email on MacBook Pro. Finding it annoying that every time I open chuck it seems to have forgotten I am a subscriber. Also, maybe I’m missing it but it looks like you can’t save drafts.

### 2/5 — So buggy

*2026-04-19, version 1.31.1*

This app gets buggier by the day. I have one Gmail and one iCloud account registered. Over time Chuck simply stops syncing with one or the other of those accounts, and the “re-authorize” feature doesn’t nothing perceptible to improve that. When I try to sync, I just get and endless spinner icon with no errors, no updated email messages, nothing. Recently in desperation I uninstalled Chuck to start over. And now whenever I attempt to register my iCloud account (using an app specific password as Apple requires), Chuck immediately hard crashes out to the OS. Again no error messages or indication what is going on.

I’m actively looking for a reliable alternative to Chuck and will update this review if/when I find one.

### 3/5 — Paying for Pro with no features

*2026-04-16, version 1.31.1*

Loved this app and all its features. Been paying monthly for the pro app. Some months ago I ended up mainly using Gmail but decided to go back to Chuck since I noticed I was still paying for their pro version. At this point some features had changed and it kept telling me to subscribe to Pro to use my usual features. Why am I being asked to add another Pro subscription when I’m currently paying for it. Ended up canceling and noticed they have a new subscription price. So I’m assuming i was on their older price model and wasn’t automatically changed to the new one. So I was being charged every month for Pro but didn’t actually have access to the Pro version. They should have upgraded automatically or sent a notice that if i didn’t change the plan I would be losing my pro features and should upgrade my plan.

### 2/5 — Exactly what I needed, but with too many shortcomings.

*2026-04-15, version 1.31.0*

This is exactly what I needed, but in the end I uninstalled it after buying and using the Pro version for two days.

Here’s why…

There is no desktop version for a streamlined experience on all my devices. My bad for not checking this upfront, this is a major turn off.

The text is way too small and too thin, without any options to change it.

Very bad contrast in the email overview, and in combination with before mentioned small and thin text, you need +3 readers to comfortably use this app.

For some reason this app generated two sent folders and the app saved sent emails in the wrong one. This caused the sent emails not to show up on my Mac. Again, no option to change this.

I hope the creators update the app and make it available for desktop soon. Will keep monitoring the his app.

### 2/5 — Best way to get to inbox zero quickly.

*2026-04-14, version 1.31.0*

Update as of Apr 14, 2026: Downgraded to 2 stars (Hopefully only a temporary downgrade). I used to absolutely LOVE this app as recently as yesterday, but the latest overnight update has significantly cut the functionality that made it so useful. Please, developers, put back the control buttons (archive, select all, etc) that you’ve taken away, and please return the interface to the clean and intuitive style it was up until today’s update.

Prior Review: Loving this app - the most well-thought out interface for quickly reducing your inbox unread message count to zero while still not missing any important emails. And the developer is very responsive. I reported a minor interface bug one evening, and they were emailing me back the next morning with an update that fixed the issue, ready to update from the ipadOS App Store. Impressive, responsive and very positive customer experience. One of my very favorite iPad apps. :)

### 3/5 — Your app

*2026-04-14, version 1.31.0*

Cant even set up email never mind get it to work!!

### 2/5 — Unsubscribe Doesn’t Work!

*2026-04-10, version 1.26.3*

Good app for cleaning out your email but unfortunately unsubscribe feature doesn’t really work.

### 3/5 — Copying all your emails!

*2026-04-09, version 1.26.3*

So this app is making a complete copy of all your deep emails. Security risk? Do they sell your emails to the highest bidder? Is this how they *really* make money? What if they get hacked? Do they delete your info after 30 days? Nope! They keep forever. I hope your info isn’t sold on the dark web

### 1/5 — Didn’t get very far

*2026-03-26, version 1.26*

App said it was totally safe; was not reassured. Decided to try Chuck with gmail, and got hit by creepy Google YouTube authentication, which I didn’t want to use. Not Chuck’s fault, but direct access to email accounts is just too dangerous to give to random small mammals.

### 1/5 — Old emails showing up as new

*2026-03-26, version 1.26*

Old emails showing up as new.

There are no notifications.

Can’t handle photos in emails.

“Chuck would like to access your contacts” popup takes over phone

Update: email provider is Gmail

### 1/5 — Still no fix

*2026-03-22, version 1.25.1*

Mark as read still not working. Another update, still hasn’t fixed it. Tried mark as read manually, that didn’t work either. Contacted support weeks ago about this issue, the only assistance was so generic it seemed like they may be using AI to respond. Last communication was more of the same, only this time they ended with “if you’re still having trouble logging in….”. I didn’t have trouble logging in, that was never the issue.

### 1/5 — selling email addresses

*2026-01-30, version 1.16*

thought it was useful BUT either this app or “unroll.me” will actually subscribe your email address to other random promotional emails

### 2/5 — After many years, I was Kicked off app!

*2025-12-20, version 1.16*

I have used Chuck for many years and was even a beta tester and was very pleased with it. Then one day my primary email was disconnected. I tried reconnecting it to no avail. So, I removed Chuck and reloaded it.

This is when I found out that Chuck is now a paid app. I could not reconnect any of my emails. I think kicking me off like that was tacky.

After many years of using Chuck I was tossed off with no explanation.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — SCAM!! Do not purchase this app!!

*2026-07-30, version 1.32.0*

I purchased a 7-day trial and canceled it the night before it was set to renew. However, Apple and the developer decided to cancel it for me and instead renewed my 7-day trial; they fraudulently charged my credit card $59.99. Apple refuses to refund my money, no matter what I try to do to get the refund I’m legally entitled to!! Run from the app, don’t walk!!

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2026-07-11, version 1.31.9*

A total waste of time. App won't connect to Google's server.

### 1/5 — Notifications inconsistent

*2026-06-09, version 1.31.9*

Notification banners always go through, but more often than not, no unread badge and mailbox is not refreshed till I open it. I do not experience the same behavior with Spark. I already emailed support. Funny thing is, it happens sometimes.

### 1/5 — Really bad

*2026-06-04, version 1.31.9*

I don’t know why I haven’t deleted this app sooner. Every single time I get a notification that I have a new email, I click it and it does not open the email. It brings me to a screen with other emails. I try to click through the different ways to filter them but it’s always a toss up if the email will show up or not. I usually end up opening the actual website after for my email that chuck simply could not open. Time to go back to iPhone email app. Decent deleting system though.

### 1/5 — Read email goes to Trash

*2026-05-31, version 1.31.8*

Took me a while to find my read emails; in the Trash! And I’m a paid Pro member. I’m happy to have paid for a year because Chuck is awesome for deleting thousands of junk emails better than any app out there. But as far as ease of use and trust worthy performance, it fails. The standard iPhone email app or Spark works better for me. Would have gone with Spark to yearly fee is >$200 and I don’t need AI for my email. Their free version is more than adequate. Uninstalling Chuck for now.

### 1/5 — False Advertising

*2026-05-29, version 1.31.8*

Chuck doesn’t delete from the host email servicer. It only deletes within the app

### 1/5 — Can’t get support

*2026-04-18, version 1.31.1*

First, let me say that I love this app. I have been using it for about three or four years without a glitch, until today. I have been paying for the pro version, yet today when I tried to look at sent email., I was told that the free version didn’t cover that. So, I went to support and tried to click on the contact us link and it didn’t work. I am not sure what to do about this because I can’t get in touch with anyone.

### 1/5 — Really was hoping this would work

*2026-04-09, version 1.26.3*

Your support link comes up with an error. Comcast emails aren’t loading anymore. When it did work, it was helpful. I guess this is a comcast/xfinity issue. Time to fine a new email address. I give up….

### 1/5 — Rope you in with free features and then takes them away

*2026-04-02, version 1.26.2*

They removed the free unsubscribe feature for free accounts. I was showing this app to every one of my clients and many were subscribing after I showed them how to use it. Lost money for your company
Greed greed greed

### 1/5 — What happened

*2026-03-26, version 1.26*

Pretty wild that their monthly cost went from $3.99 to $6.99. Forced me to reevaluate email tools and quickly realized much better options exist these days.

Edit: they emailed me to say they had reduced their price, it’s a whole buck cheaper. /s

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best email management client

*2026-07-16, version 1.31.10*

Let me start by saying this is not the app I use for reading emails. It’s the app I use for getting rid of all the emails I don’t want (including unsubscribes). Chuck does this _extremely_ well. This is my 2nd year as a happy subscriber.

Thank you Chuck team!

### 5/5 — Best way to get to inbox zero quickly.

*2026-05-16, version 1.31.7*

New update as of May 16, 2026: Super responsive developers who clearly care about keeping Chuck users happy. I’ve submitted bug reports on two separate occasions, and both times the customer service reps have contacted me in a very timely manner to resolve the issues. I’m still not thrilled with the new translucent interface (the previous style was a lot easier to read and had more intuitive button placement), but the functionality is back to 100% and the ability to quickly trim your inbox contents is unmatched by any other mail client that I’ve tried - and I’ve tried a LOT of them!). Thanks, Chuck Developers!

### 5/5 — Finally a solution

*2026-01-14, version 1.16*

Please with this apps performance. Been using it for years and will continue.

### 5/5 — A gamechanger for visual clutter

*2025-12-21, version 1.16*

I’ve been using Chuck for years now and it’s the only app (in my opinion) that gets the job done. I’ve implemented Chuck as a staple in my self-care routine because it reduces the overwhelm I feel when checking emails.

### 5/5 — Email is forever changed

*2025-12-12, version 1.16*

In 2 days I was able to delete 120k emails intelligently, leaving me about 6000 remaining to sort and the rest of my important emails archived. Not just an amazing cleanup tool, the compact email view allows me to see so much more of my inbox. The groupings by sender, subject, etc are amazing. Through the process I found loads of emails I missed directly to me, oops. Chuck makes it easy to find them. Oh, and Chuck helped me unsubscribed from thousands of senders onto the click of a button, leaving about 50 that I still wanted.

### 5/5 — Sometimes email not sent

*2025-12-03, version 1.16*

Ive become a pro for nearly two months and really enjoyed it - but please be aware sometimes the emails are not sent out and could not find any trace in outbox as well. Will continue to be a pro member once this has been fixed.

### 5/5 — The best app for keeping my inbox clean and organized

*2025-11-30, version 1.16*

Chuck has made managing my email so much easier and faster. It lets me clear out huge batches of messages with one tap and helps me stay on top of everything without feeling overwhelmed. The interface is clean, the features work smoothly, and the unsubscribe tool is incredibly useful for cutting out junk. I love that it supports all my accounts in one place and runs directly on my phone for extra privacy. It has become my go to email cleanup tool. Five stars.

### 5/5 — Liberated me from my 25,000+ unread inbox backlog!

*2025-11-21, version 1.15.2*

I let my inbox get out of control with newsletters, ads, and job search emails. It was overwhelming and made me resort to only checking my email when I was expecting something. It was a nightmare.

When I added my Gmail account and saw that ALL the emails were organized neatly by Sender, Subject Line, and Time Range and that it had sorted my whole inbox this way, I knew right then inbox zero was not only possible, but it would come quickly!!

In no time I bulk archived or deleted my way to inbox zero. Now, I’m able stay on top of my email using any mail client, but when I slip and let unread email start to pile up, I know just a few minutes with Chuck will get me back to zero, without missing important emails.

Seriously, thank you for liberating me from email purgatory!

### 5/5 — sugestão

*2025-10-31, version 1.15.2*

Chuck já é incrível como app, ia ser ainda mais se tivesse também versão web, pra acessar o mesmo que se acessa pelo celular no pc. Fica a ideia ai 🥰🫶
