### 1/5 — Awful - don't buy

*2014-12-28, version 1.2*

Don't buy this, it is unusable!

### 1/5 — Terrible, Truly Terrible

*2014-12-28, version 1.2*

Nearly impossible to get the game started due to lack of control. Got access to the game after many multiple failed attempts - when I did get in it was horrible. Would like a refund

### 1/5 — Rubbish controls

*2014-12-26, version 1.2*

Say no more!

### 1/5 — Awful controls

*2014-12-14, version 1.2*

Could've perhaps used tilt screen for control but as it is, better off giving your money to charity! A total waste of time!!

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2014-12-13, version 1.2*

Total rip off, controls are rubbish, waste of money

### 1/5 — Awful

*2014-12-07, version 1.2*

Really awful controls. It could be so much fun if it had any kind of reasonable way to control movement !

### 1/5 — Awful controls

*2014-12-05, version 1.2*

Like most touch screen games that require a joystick type control, it's rubbish. You end up with your thumb half way across the screen hiding the very thing you need to see. Other than that it could be good as seems like the original. But unusable in the current form.
It's rather annoying that reviews for the game didn't seem to appear on the App Store until I had purchased. Rip off!

### 1/5 — Mr

*2014-11-22, version 1.2*

Rubbish

### 1/5 — Chuckle

*2014-11-17, version 1.2*

Not worth the money

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2014-10-24, version 1.1*

I was delighted to see this was available as I loved Chuckie Egg as a child.

It just does not work! I'd give 0 stars if I could!

SAVE YOUR MONEY!

### 1/5 — This app doesn't appear to work

*2014-10-23, version 1.1*

Crashes before starting up...have deleted and reinstalled but still no joy. Support page is either broken or it's not responsive i.e. you can't use it via iPhone to submit bug report/send feedback. I'm contacting Apple to inform them and seek refund as I've been unable to do anything via developer's own website.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Chuckle Egg

*2024-10-31, version 2.6.14*

Downloaded today, very disappointed, will only go left no right movement at all.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2016-03-28, version 2.1.5*

Too hard to control. No way near as good as original.

### 1/5 — Don't bother.

*2016-01-20, version 2.1.5*

This version of a classic is torrid. For starters you can't see eggs as they can be hidden beneath you controls - just make the game a square format and have controls outside that space. Secondly. Tried to be too clever with the graphics. Just keep them simple like the original game. Don't add in all the colour it's distracting!

### 1/5 — Awful

*2015-10-09, version 2.1.3*

I loved this game as a child and now I can't play it as the controls don't work! What a waste of 79p!!!!!

### 1/5 — Terrible controls

*2015-08-20, version 2.1.3*

As another user has pointed out, the controls are awful. It's really difficult to play the game or adjust the settings. No instructions with the game on how to adjust the controls neither. Shame as this could have been a good port of a classic game but instead it's a waste of money because it's so hard to play the game.

### 1/5 — Poor, poor poor poor attempt

*2015-08-19, version 2.1.3*

I downloaded this as I fancied playing a retro game I played in my youth. The controls are extremely poor, pathetic in fact, this shouldn't have even made it to the store, ridiculous, I'll be complaining to Apple about this one, games in the store should be fit for purpose, the controls for this one mean it's not fit for purpose, 79p or £3.49, to me it makes no difference, it still should be playable

### 1/5 — X

*2015-04-01, version 2.1.2*

Been charged for game that doesn't work bring back the spectrum at least that worked

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2015-02-16*

Rubbish controls are rubbish, jump doesn't always work. Poor example. Want a refund!!

### 1/5 — Don't Bother!!!

*2015-02-07, version 2.1*

Used to love this game as a kid on my spectrum but not the same, the controls are an absolute nightmare and far too sensitive, you're just not in control of the character, he goes where he wants - don't pay for it, waste of time and money!!!

### 1/5 — Chuckle

*2015-01-04, version 2.0*

Crap

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Updated Review

*2022-05-09, version 2.6.7*

This game really takes me back to my childhood where I invested huge amounts of hours into this on our schools new BBC Micro.

Initially I gave this review a 3 star rating as the write up states it’s compatible with MFi controllers. It didn’t work with my “Backbone” so I dropped the developer a message. Got a response of thanks in less than 24hrs and within one week a new update fixed my problem.

A developer fixing a bug at the request of a sole user is worthy of a glowing review.

This is a super port to relive my childhood.

### 5/5 — Great port

*2015-01-22, version 2.1*

All time classic from early 80's, used to play on BBC Micro. New controls on iPad appear to have screwed it up completely!

### 4/5 — A retro classic

*2023-09-09, version 2.6.13*

Now there’s a choice of two control schemes which is great. Be nice to have more options e.g original sound effects. Great to have this classic on my phone. An all time great

### 3/5 — Close but not quite

*2024-05-04, version 2.6.14*

It’s the closest I’ve found to the original retro Amstrad version but the controls are cumbersome which makes the gameplay slower and at times frustrating - or maybe I was just better at it 30 yrs ago lol

### 3/5 — Not bad

*2014-10-25, version 1.1*

Controls were never quite going to recapture the AZ<> classic setup but the virtual joypad is pretty fiddly trying to make smooth progress up and down ladders. Did you try a multi touch version of the buttons controls?

Also don't think the enemy ducks take the right route, and you shouldn't be able to jump the lift gap on level 3.

Some nice nostalgia value but don't see me playing much more due to a few flaws.

### 2/5 — Amusing But

*2025-07-18, version 2.6.15*

The original game was great and it is sad that it has not been continued on other platforms. This version is at best amusing but nothing like the gameplay quality of the original. Well as I said sad.

### 2/5 — Chuckie egg

*2024-04-27, version 2.6.14*

The games needs abit of wor

### 2/5 — Way too small.

*2024-01-27, version 2.6.13*

It has some kind of resemblance to the original game but is so small on my screen I can barely see what’s anything…
