### 1/5 — Duped by the Aesthetically Please UI

*2025-12-05*

Nearly impossible to get information/files/anything into this app on iOS which, in turn, makes it pointless across the Apple ecosystem. Waste of $

### 1/5 — Bunk would be better name

*2025-03-17, version 1.9.5*

Keeps showing error happened —- costly error for my hard earned money !!! Comprende senior??

### 1/5 — data in accuracy

*2024-07-10, version 1.5.8*

fetching of data inappropriate

### 1/5 — Confusing and inaccurate

*2024-02-17*

I was very drawn in by the description of this app, but I've found that in use it doesn't seem to do what it has promised. It does not pull from any of the documents I've added, and continuously gives me responses telling me that it, in fact, cannot reference uploaded documents. Considering that this seems to be the point of the app, this is super disappointing. Tags are super buggy, and I can only add them using my iPhone, not the Mac or the Vision Pro apps. Not that they seem to do anything. Chats are not persistent if you hit reload, so you just lose everything that's been generated. Also, I opened it first on the Apple Vision Pro app, which does not offer a free trial. I paid the $9.99 or whatever for 1 week. Then I opened the app on my iPhone and lo and behold, it offered a free trial. That felt shady.

**Developer response:** I'm sorry about your experience. This is not typical and shouldn't have happened. It appears you were trying to upload files with thousands of pages in a single file. While Chunk can handle entire novels (hundreds of pages), documents with over 500 pages may have some performance issues. Particularly documents with thousands of pages. For better performance perhaps break the document into smaller parts and use the same tag for each while using the 'Large' Chunk size. Hopefully this fixes your issues, and sorry about any confusion or misunderstandings.

### 2/5 — Ehh it’s tough to import information in

*2025-12-28*

I should have never subscribed but alas here we are.

The good:
- clean UI
- nice MacOS counterpart
- built in LLMs do work

The bad:
- it is very hard to get information into this app on iOS. With respect to each productivity app I’ve used, I always import 10 or so random stock related files (in different formats) to see how the app handles the uploads. Well, unfortunately, the only information i was successfully able to import was an Apple note and a URL. Had no luck with PDFs, .jpegs, sharing from X, sharing from email, sharing from files or from photos.
…..and that’s when i gave up interest because if you can’t easily import and export information into an PKM or second brain app, then it serves no purpose. See HyNote….it is hands down the best all encompassing productivity tool on the market - across any device or platform - but it’s harddddd to get information into it for processing (and out of it for incorporation into a larger note system). Recall is probably the second best tool but it just doesn’t have a great iOS UI and doesn’t have a macOS app.

**Developer response:** I'm not sure what happened with your experience. I'm deeply sorry you had such a poor first impression of Chunk. One of the things that makes our app special is the ability to upload lots of documents and files to Chunk and search them easily. I wish you would've reached out to us so we could've made things right for you and fix any issues you were having. We'd love to have you back if you're willing to give us another chance. We had a day or two of outages last month that you may have just been unfortunate enough to use at those times. Again I'm sorry this happened to you, if you do try Chunk again, please send me an email if you have ANY issues or questions. Thanks - James founder of Chunk AI

### 2/5 — Often Confuses Itself

*2025-04-08*

After submitting the first query, every subsequent follow-up will break the display interface. New questions will show up randomly on top of old answers, or vice versa.

For anything but the most simple instruction the API simply times out and spits back a word-salad of error messages.

**Developer response:** I’m deeply sorry you had this experience. I’m not sure what was happening but I’d like to rectify this if possible. If you care to email us we’d love to help you figure why this occurred.

We assure you this isn’t typical of what our thousands of users typically experience on a daily basis. We value you as a user and hope you give us another shot. Please send me an email: info@chunkapp.com

### 2/5 — Not finding information within your own documents

*2024-08-06*

I’m not sure what to truly think about this app. It’s a great concept, allowing you to store your notes and documents within the app. The idea is that you will be able to find specific information by chatting with the built-in AI. In concept, the app is designed to give you information specific to your notes per your request or query while also supplementing it with any relevant information based on its online search. So in concept, you would be able to cheery your notes well being supported by additional online information. But this is where it fails. Anytime I’ve asked for specific information which is very clearly found within the documents I uploaded to the app, it returns a response, stating nothing is found within my notes or documents that matches my query.

**Developer response:** Thank you for trying out Chunk. We'd love to help you with your issue. There could be a few reasons you maybe having issues get answers returned about your stored notes or documents. Making sure your query contains keywords/phrases in the documents you're referring to. Adding tags to documents would help narrow down the search if you've uploaded large amounts of documents. Please refer to our tutorial videos at https://www.chunkapp.com/tutorials or email us at info@chunkapp.com and our support team will help you directly. Thank you again for your honest review and hopefully we can get you using Chunk as you seem to like the premise. Cheers!

### 4/5 — Helpful.

*2024-09-03*

Excellent for automatically finding the answers I need. Its smart search features make the research process so much easier, saving me valuable time. Only problem is the “Research search mode” isn’t working correctly as of now.

### 5/5 — Powerful AI Companion

*2025-07-13*

I have used a lot of AI tools and this is the best I have used to date!!

## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-05-17*

I started using this app for grad school and it has seriously changed how I study. I have ADHD and usually get overwhelmed trying to keep track of everything I read, especially for technical subjects. Chunk helps me slow down and actually think through what I am reading. It lets me focus on the important stuff without getting distracted or lost. It feels like it was made by someone who actually gets how hard reading can be when your brain is bouncing all over the place. I use it pretty much every day now. It is simple, clean, and really useful. If you do a lot of reading or research and struggle to stay organized or focused, this is worth trying.

### 5/5 — Good support

*2024-02-22*

Edit 2/22: The developer has been very responsive in trying to resolve the issues. I've also discovered that some of the issues I experienced were related to an ongoing ChatGPT issue with referencing uploaded documents, as I've seen similar errors when interfacing ChatGPT directly.

### 5/5 — So helpful!

*2024-02-20*

I’ve been using the app to organize my class notes and it’s been so helpful! I use the chat feature to give it some basic instructions on what I want and it’s able to take my mess of notes and create outlines that are helping me understand the concepts better. It’s really like having your own assistant! I’m sure I haven’t even realized all the other ways I can use it.
