### 2/5 — Doesnt work with current komga

*2025-11-24, version 2.5.10*

Could not connect

### 4/5 — Great reader, not great file transfers

*2025-09-04, version 2.5.10*

I have loved using the free version. I can read my CBR and PDF files with ease. However, I recently bought the Pro version and cannot access files on my shared network folder, Google Drive, or OneDrive, which was the whole reason I bought the outside version.

### 4/5 — Needs a stretch feature

*2025-08-26, version 2.5.10*

Needs a stretch feature I don’t like scrolling up and down on a a page to see the full page. Would rather have stretch than fill

### 2/5 — Was a great app, but there are issues…

*2025-08-16, version 2.5.10*

First, the app support link goes to some website that’s selling things and not to any form of support. That’s very off-putting.

Second, it’s very tiresome to put my OPDS server details in every other day only to find chunky deleted them. Why does it keep erasing the servers? I tried to get app support but, as I mentioned, the link doesn’t go there.

### 2/5 — Best reader sadly

*2025-06-16, version 2.5.10*

This is the best comic reader out there but it needs so many improvements. My biggest issue is that it frequently gets rid of your reading progress which is pretty essential

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work on newer models

*2025-04-07, version 2.5.10*

I got a new iPad Air with an M2 and Chunky does not work on it at all. Can’t find any files. Using the same manner of organization I had on my old iPad.

### 1/5 — Comic files not loading

*2025-03-04, version 2.5.10*

None of my cbr and cbz files will load

### 1/5 — Dead App

*2025-03-01, version 2.5.10*

Looks like we got hung out in the cold. Synch is dead and iCloud browsing shows things I deleted a year ago. Abandonware. Do not download.

### 4/5 — Good but could be better

*2025-01-21, version 2.5.10*

I do like the app I only wish it could have sub folders. For example it would great if I could make 3 folders, Marvel, DC, and Indie. Then I could put sub categories for series, etc. Can’t do that, it can however group a series by tittle, artist and yes publisher however even if it is publisher it will add the year. So if a comic is a Marvel Comic it won’t be under Marvel it will be under marvel 2002 and the other comic marvel 1987, etc.

So a little sloppy for my tastes, the diplay also leaves something to be desired since it won’t give you options like small covers, a grid, etc.

But I do like that when you read it, it’s smooth and loads the comics well. It also has a shortcut to adjust the brightness of the screen so that you are not getting out to open your settings

### 2/5 — Google drive integration is broken

*2025-01-13, version 2.5.10*

This app has been old reliable for ages, but unfortunately the google drive connection just throws an unhelpful error message now.

### 2/5 — Great app, but abandoned by dev

*2025-01-10, version 2.5.10*

This is my favorite comic reader app, and does almost everything I need. However, it seems that the dev has completely abandoned the app, and is no longer contactable via social media or their dev email.

I read local files, so I can’t comment on any issues with wireless file transfers and syncing. However, I did run into a bug relating to comic files over a certain file size (bigger than ~2.1gb). I’ve reported the bug multiple times via the in-app “Contact Us” option, but have received no response and the app has not been updated.

It’s a really good app 95% of the time. But I cannot give it a 5/5 review because it’s been abandoned. I also would not suggest buying the Pro upgrade for this same reason. If the dev returns and fixes the reported issues, then I’d definitely give it a 5/5, but until then, I can only suggest using the free version.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not good on Mac

*2026-07-17, version 2.5.10*

The app didn’t just open my files, it moved them from my NAS where I have them stored and buried them in its folders. That alone was enough for me to uninstall.

### 1/5 — Does nothing, doesn’t work

*2026-03-20, version 2.5.10*

You can’t open files. It hasn’t been updated in five years.

### 1/5 — No good anymore

*2026-01-25, version 2.5.10*

This app is dead following the latest iOS update

### 1/5 — SMB1 required?!?

*2025-12-10, version 2.5.10*

This is extremely dangerous setting to enable and is a great way to infect computers on your network. Please update to allow SMB2!

### 1/5 — Broken UI

*2025-12-10, version 2.5.10*

PDF's silently fail to import. No dark mode.

### 1/5 — RIP my friend

*2025-11-23, version 2.5.10*

Loved Chunky, even if just for the cool trick of snagging a portion of the screen. But it seems no longer able to access Dropbox of iCloud, even with premissions. So sad.

### 1/5 — Dumb

*2025-11-19, version 2.5.10*

Can’t add books on your device unless you upgrade to pro. Stupid. panels is better.

### 1/5 — It WAS a great reader…

*2025-10-06, version 2.5.10*

After 5 years without support it’s falling behind on things like the latest RAR version, making it unusable in cases. Time to look for a supported reader.

### 1/5 — Developer has abandoned their app

*2025-09-25, version 2.5.10*

I cannot recommend anyone purchase this app, as who knows where your money goes off to and it hasn't been updated in over 5 years. The developer's website is no longer live and it links to an incredibly sketchy Amazon page for in-game currency.

Disappointing really as I quite like the app and would appreciate the local web server functionality, but I cannot fund folks who simply abandon support of their products.

### 1/5 — Support e-mail bounced, but my payment for the pro version didn’t.

*2025-05-25, version 2.5.10*

I bought the pro version. Loaded a PDF comic through the interface. The app cut the bottom off the pages. I sent a screenshot to the support e-mail address. The e-mail bounced. It’s unethical to keep taking money if you’re not going to support the application.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Deserve 100 stars

*2026-07-23, version 2.5.10*

All features for free

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2026-06-07, version 2.5.10*

Highly recommend. The only request I have would be to update the SMB to SMB2 for security

### 5/5 — Does What You Want it to

*2026-04-24, version 2.5.10*

Adobe hobbled Acrobat Reader by preventing you from using the iOS native file handler to move multiple documents into the app at once. Now you have to either add documents one at a time or pay to get access to what's already built into iOS.
Guess what? Chunky is not only the best CBR reader I've ever used - it also does PDF files. It’s clean, it’s organized, and, yes, it lets you use the native iOS file manager to transfer large numbers of files into the app at once. So long, Adobe.
Chunky is just really good at what it does. I bought the pro after using it for just a week, it's that good. My only complaint - literally my only complaint - is that you can't sort grouped items by unread first, and that's such a nitpick for an otherwise perfect reader app.

### 5/5 — Love it , Wish it had a vertical scroll feature

*2026-04-12, version 2.5.10*

Love this app use it everyday very easy to use . Love its category / search feature. Wish it had a vertical scroll feature that would make this perfect

### 5/5 — iPadOS looks to have broke it

*2026-01-22, version 2.5.10*

Since the most recent update, the app no longer seems to work.

### 5/5 — Keeps my old iPad alive

*2025-10-27, version 2.5.10*

Great reader! Keeps my old iPad alive! Still syncs with my iCloud! But the sync is very slow! Use it daily! Great app!

### 5/5 — Best Comic Reader on IOS

*2025-05-26, version 2.5.10*

Super easy to use , really easy to get your content into the app. Been using for years and really happy

### 5/5 — Awesome! iPhone app would be great!

*2025-05-19, version 2.5.10*

Fantastic reader! One of the only times I’ve actually paid for a pro version of an app. I would love an iPhone version tho for some reading away from home 🙏

### 5/5 — One of the best comic readers for iPad

*2024-12-18, version 2.5.10*

It’s great. No complaints!

### 5/5 — Best comic reader

*2024-12-12, version 2.5.10*

I’ve been using this app for years. It has the best sorting options I’ve found and it’s really simple to use. Had the free version for over half a decade before deciding I should give it some money. While not needed, the crop borders pro feature is really helpful for certain books, particularly older comics.
