I have no idea why the reviews are bad but I can say most of them were from multiple years ago. And there’s one guy who rants about not including Buddhist and Hindu warship temples...and then he goes on to talk about Christianity being a cult, soooo perhaps that has something to do with the ratings. The app works just fine. I like that you can choose a church by denomination and/or by location. I found it very helpful. It has links to the websites, directions, phone numbers, Yelp reviews , and the ability to “share” the Church with others, which would be helpful if traveling with friends. I am a guy who is on the road a lot and this app is perfect for me.
