È un film da cinema di autore a cui Olivier Assayas si candida con sempre maggiore consapevolezza. Impressionante Kirsten Stewart che regge benissimo un personaggio molto silenzioso, in ricerca, in bilico tra il soprannaturale e il materiale. Tiene molto bene anche la tensione del thriller con una chiave vicina all'horror mantenendo un dialogo quasi ironico con la suspense. Grande cura della fotografia e attenzione nelle inquadrature, tutto ciò vi farà immergere completamente nell'atmosfera del film.
