### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2022-01-11*

The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars is the ability to point the app to store photos in specific albums your phone when you shoot.
I use the app for work and shoot hundreds of shots per day, if all those photos went into a CineScope album or folder, instead of mixing in with various personal iPhone photos - 5 stars.

### 3/5 — Stabilization needs to be fixed

*2021-03-03*

I wish you could change the ratio in the built in app but you can’t, so I use this app. It’s great except the stabilization is trash. Please fix it and I will give it 5 stars...

### 4/5 — No guiding lines

*2020-06-08*

hard to maintain perfect horizon line with it.... cuz app doesnt have any 3x3 guides , otherwise its a good app

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. We just released version 2.5 of Cinescope which includes the ability to display an alignment grid. Hope this helps, and happy shooting!

### 2/5 — Issue with formatted images for instagram

*2020-06-04*

Whenever I format an image for Instagram(putting white borders on top and bottom) using this app, the resulting image shows as either jumbled up lines on the Instagram upload page or it crashes the Instagram app while in try selecting the cinescope formatted image through the Instagram uploading interface. I haven't had any other problem while uploading other images on Instagram through the Instagram app. Images formatted by cinescope can only be uploaded on Instagram properly by sharing it directly from the camera roll/photos which limits it to only single image uploads and I cant select multiple images to upload as a single post. Please help me to solve this issue by identifying why Instagram crashes while uploading a cinescope formatted image. Thanks.

### 2/5 — No stability in camera

*2020-03-25*

Everything is best but there is no stability in camera,

### 4/5 — Weird bug

*2019-10-21*

Patch coming soon to fix odd stretching of images when formatting? I’ve upgraded to lastest iOS; deleted and re installed app and other solutions but nothing solves issue. Please fix

**Developer response:** Thanks for letting us know about this bug. We are working on a fix and it will be included in the next update!

### 1/5 — 2.0 constantly crashing.

*2019-03-10*

I really enjoyed the previous version. This one has great potential but almost every time I snap a shot it crashes. There’s a few other bugs as well, including (when i am able to successfully take a shot) I can’t see photos within the app, I have to close app and look in photo album on phone. Hoping updates come soon because for now it’s practically useless.

**Developer response:** Sorry you've run into issues with Cinescope and thanks for taking the time to let us know about them. We've just released version 2.2 and we think it addresses the problems you've described here. Please contact us at info@cinescopeapp.com and we'll work with you to resolve any remaining issues. ### 1/5 — Nothing but error messages

*2019-03-05*

Excitedly bought v 2.0 today but can’t get any recordings to save. Hope this get fixed ASAP??

### 4/5 — Simple and effective

*2019-02-25, version 1.9.5*

It’s hard to find a camera app that allows you to shoot in a variety of aspect ratios, which is surprising, because it sounds simple enough a concept to implement. This one does so nicely. Great for practicing different kinds of framing. My only quibble is that for an eight-dollar app it’d be reassuring to see updates more often than once every two years or so, both to iron out the kinks that all apps have and to reassure new buyers that it works with the latest iOS version. No need for feature creep, it’s great as it is. Much appreciated.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2019-02-24, version 1.9.5*

I can’t put widescreen bars a a video I previously recorded.

### 3/5 — Too Basic

*2018-08-14*

Good app but needs a few more basic features. Mainly the ability to lock the exposure and lock the auto focus would be very helpful.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Had to Delete

*2026-07-31*

Had to delete this app. It no longer works as it hasn’t been updated in five years. Paid $2.99 for it at the time. Oh well.

### 1/5 — Last update 5 years ago

*2026-07-07*

An app that used to be good and now useless. Super glitchy, crashing for every little thing. Can’t get worse, it’d be nice to have an update. Otherwise why is it still in the app store?

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! We wanted to let you know that Version 2 has been released and supports full manual control for exposure, focus, and white balance. Please try it out and let us know what you think. If you run into any problems please let us know by emailing info@cinescopeapp.com and we'll work with you to resolve them.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2026-04-30*

Keeps taking random shots when the app opens PLEASE FIX iPhone 16 pro latest iOS

### 1/5 — Not for cinema whatsoever Is there a duration max?

*2024-03-17*

I wasn’t aware that there was a limit to duration because I could find that info on the app/description. 40 minutes of quality footage completed to read, “unable to save video”. Frankly, I’m not using this “CineScope app” again. If it’s for cinema, then make it that way. Thanks for messing everything up and destroying the energy we were able to get in that take that was “unable to save”

Thanks so much CineScope I really appreciate it.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t function anymore

*2023-01-15*

This app just defaults to losing the first image in whatever album your viewing. So when you want to actually tap in and edit anything it will only load the first image in that album and not the one you want to edit. So the most basic function of this app no longer works.

### 1/5 — App not working…

*2022-10-12, version 2.5.6*

The app keeps closing whenever I try and use it. I tried closing the app and reopening/ turning my phone on and off… no luck! I had to end up deleting the app and buying it again… unfortunately it’s continuing to close on its own.

### 1/5 — An amazing app!... at least when it doesn’t crash

*2020-11-19*

Let me start out about what I love about the app, because it has so many great things. The ability to adjust focused manually is great, the filters are great, the manual color tone adjustment is great, the grid could use some work because I’d kind of still like to use the rule of 3rds when in a deferent aspect ratio. The reason this review has to be 1 star is because of a the fact that 90% of the time, I can’t stop recording without the video failing to process or the app just outright crashing when I try to save. This app is essential all show and would not recommend for people to use for filming projects in its current state. Fix the crashing problem and you have an amazing video app, but there’s nothing more annoying that having to shoot a scene 100 times because the app crashes every time you stop recording. I will definitely change my rating once this issue gets fixed. But for now I’m just disappointed

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to leave this feedback. We're glad you to hear you like the app, but sorry about those crashes. If you'll email us at info@cinescopeapp.com we can work with you to figure out what is causing them. We'd also like to learn more about how you use the grid. Thanks!

### 1/5 — Crashes on save

*2020-11-14*

Just bought this app bc it is exactly what I have been looking for in an app. I am a big fan of the anamorphic ratio and I love cropping photos on that aspect. Every time I open a photo to crop it in 2.39:1 and then press the check mark to save it, the app crashes on my iPhone 11 Max Pro. Please update to fix the problem!

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! We're sorry to hear about the crash your are experiencing. If you email us at info@cinescopeapp.com we'll work directly with you to figure out what's going on.

### 1/5 — Has a long way to go

*2019-03-27, version 2.2.1*

The app is very handy in stills mode but it’s really got some major faults in video mode .. every second take the app crashes and shuts down
I tried to “send feedback” via the app but even pressing this button makes the app crash

### 1/5 — It crashes every time I try to use it.

*2019-03-17*

I’ve had it for almost two weeks and haven’t used it yet because every time I click the button to take a picture it closes the app. My phone is up to date and I’ve reloaded the app several times. Can’t find any info on troubleshooting this issue.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you are having issues with Cinescope and thanks for taking the time to let us know. Please contact us at info@cinescopeapp.com and we'll work with you to figure out what's going on. Thanks!

### 5/5 — app not working

*2024-05-03*

Hello…. long time I bought it , very nice app but now not working there is message(( error)) i hope you have e-mail to send you

Thanks

### 5/5 — Raw viewfider

*2021-01-31*

Top raw from dhese drugova

### 5/5 — Almost great

*2020-11-14*

Does an incredible job of showing you the image you’re going to capture, but maybe 60% of the time the app crashes after I take a picture and I have to reopen it to get back to shooting and I invariably lose the picture I thought I took. The other problem is i’ll shoot a picture widescreen and the app saves the picture vertically and only a sliver of the image I tried to capture. No kind of fun. I’m almost about to delete the app if this continues. It’s a real bummer because when it works, this app is great.

**Developer response:** Hello, thanks for leaving us a review and this feedback! We're sorry about the bugs you are experiencing. If you will email us at info@cinescopeapp.com we will work with you to figure out what is going on. Thanks!

### 5/5 — This is a great app

*2019-03-13*

This app is great and the upgrades in the new version make it even better. I am a cinematographer and find it very helpful to photo storyboard and weigh the pros and cons of aspect ratios with a director.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2019-03-13*

Fun to image the world in different aspect ratios. Great for explaining to non-camera folks what aspect ratio is.

### 5/5 — This video producer loves it

*2019-03-05*

It’s a great app for point and shoot moments for people who want to throw a little extra flavor on the video or picture. It’s not a full on camera app. There are plenty of apps for that. This is for the people who want to choose the aspect ratio for their memories and maybe toss in a few other options as well. It’s worth the money and comes from one of the greatest cinematographers around. Cannot recommend it enough.

### 5/5 — Finally a way to take pics using the whole phone screen

*2019-03-04, version 2.1*

I was looking and hoping for an app like this when Rachel Morrison announced it last year. I’ve been using it for months and it’s really great. I was hoping they would update it to make it easier to adjust exposure and looks like they have. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! I used to use the FB Messenger camera to take widescreen photos. If anyone wants to see some pics I’ve taken with Cinescope I’m on IG as @veronicalm

### 5/5 — The best camera for different aspect ratios

*2019-03-03, version 2.0*

This 2.0 update brought every single thing I would want. I can enter custom aspect ratios and adjust by typing in what I want, I can shoot in whatever frame rate and resolution I want, the UI is still excellent. I am happy to have waited this long for this update.

It may not have the powerful manual settings like other cameras do, but if you like to shoot video and photos at aspect ratios different from the standard iPhone camera, GET THIS CAMERA.

### 5/5 — Thank you!

*2019-03-02, version 2.0*

Thank you for the long-awaited update, guys! It’s looking great. I’ve had CineScope on my home screen for a long time and have used it often. The increase in video resolution, options for RAW photos and slow motion, frame rates, etc.. these are all very welcome upgrades. One question: is it possible to utilize the stabilization / shake reduction usually applied by the default iOS Camera app? That’s one thing I’ve always found lacking in CineScope. I’ve not experimented with this version of the app just yet, but I’m excited to. Thanks again!

### 5/5 — AMAZING !!!!

*2018-06-20, version 1.9.5*

Where have you been all my LIFE !
