So not only Coin Star machine charges you 4% fee. Additional once it get deposited. They hit you with a 15% spread on top of that which is straight highway robbery to consumer. Very bad business. We are glad to see you are enjoying CINQ by Coinstar! ### 1/5 — Absolutely awful they will totally screw you over *2024-11-26, version 1.0.6* I wanted to purchase some cryptocurrency, and the transaction went through smoothly—clearly, they're more than willing to take your money. However, the information provided was misleading. Before choosing the CINQ option, it seemed like all I needed to do was create an account to access my crypto. This was false; while you do need to make an account, you can't use it until you "upgrade" it through a KYC (Know Your Customer) process. I attempted this upgrade by providing my ID; I took clear pictures of both the front and back, and my photo was clear as well. I tried this process four times, but each time, at the end, an error code appeared, stating it could not verify my identity. Subsequently, my account was locked, and I was advised to contact customer service for identity verification. When I called and spoke with a representative, she essentially told me there was nothing I could do, that my account wouldn't be verified, and I had to email support with my ticket ID, my name, and the date. I was informed that within one to two business weeks, they would provide the next steps for returning my money (though she only mentioned 'next steps,' so I'm not entirely sure about the return). This whole ordeal is absurd—stay far away from this app and this company. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — KYC is unreliable, can’t even use app *2026-07-18* I tried three times and it even gave a green checkmark saying that I was good to go, but it still did not verify me. It could have at least said what was wrong with my application or tell me what error I had ### 1/5 — Nothing but issues *2026-06-18* Used Coinstar for years and I’ve had nothing but issues trying to get gift cards. I’ve gone to 5 different places in my town and after $31 it rejects all my coins back. I’ve called the company countless times and still having issues. Then they tell me they stopped doing gift cards and to get this app that won’t verify to create. The 4 prior times they resolved the issue by the time I was off the phone with customer service. This time they said could take 3-5 business days which is obsurd. No real reason given and the fact that they don't just credit the account is bogus. Hold on though because I called the next day to say how unhappy i was about all this he told me he had "Good news!" That they verified I deposited the money so they'd be issuing a refund but hold on again it's coming via paper check lololol. I'm not done yet tho when asked how long this process is gonna take he told me 10-15 BUSINESS DAYS!!!! I'm a near daily user and the amount of money I've paid in fees (22-25% despite it not telling you this at all and there's no cap on that BTW) means absolutely nothing. I have no choice to buy crypto physically anywhere else as I live on an island and it's the one place I can buy despite that I will NEVER use this again and I can't strongly recommend staying away from them all together because if it can happen this many times to one person it'll happen to everybody. **Developer response:** We are very sorry to hear about the troubles you have had with your recent transaction. Just ate my money *2026-01-09* Aside from the obvious problem of how much money they take for the service, 20% without a cap I deposited $80 before a message says there's a problem and to contact customer service so I do and the result is in 3-5 biz I will be contact me. I understand things happen but that is so absurd I need to wait that long to get my money back.
