## What is Circa Solar?

Circa Solar allows you to realign with the nature of time. 

By visualising time as a phenomenon of daily and seasonal light-dark cycles, rather than the more recent notion of time as a purely mechanical and numerical phenomenon, Circa Solar returns to a pre-industrial relationship of time which we have aligned to through the course of evolution. 

Due to the fluctuations and oscillations of the Earth's orbit and tilt on it's axis the regularity of light-dark cycles varies wildly depending on where you are and when it is. This is something that the fixed conventional mechanical watches and clocks struggle to allow for, but dynamic screen of smartwatches and smartphones are perfectly suited to such fluctuations. 

Circa Solar helps us to synchronise the intrinsic relationship between our circadian rhythms, our mental and physical health, and the geophysical rhythms of light and dark. Circa Solar visualises the critical solar information contained in fluctuating daily and seasonal sunlight cycles. Such light cycles act as the primary zeitgeber (periodic external cues capable of entraining biological rhythms) that influence and govern the behaviours and physiology of nearly all living organisms. 

Growing research in the fields of circadian health and chronobiology shows profound potential benefits to not only our individual mental and physical health (through improved mood, energy, sleep, resilience, and wellbeing) but also in an increased appreciation of the coexistence we share with nature as circadian organisms.
