No, I do not want notifications from "Circus Atari!" The game bears little resemblance to the Atari 2600 version, and when you finally die, the stupid clown doesn't even land on his head and go splat! Uninstall. ### 2/5 — Nice game ruined by freemiums *2015-01-04, version 1.4* The game itself is fun and unique, but words of warning: 1) don't be misled by the title; this is NOT the same Circus Atari that you played on your Video Computer System. Takes only a few minutes to play, so it's a good option for something quick if you have only a few minutes. It's like Atari's version of Doodle Jump. ### 3/5 — Needs Improvement - Could be a Winner *2012-08-01, version 1.3.1* I like this game. I don't love it. 1. OpenFeint? Yuck. Keeps telling me I have a friend request when I do not in the middle of gameplay. Atari included Game Center support, so this layer is borderline pointless. 2. Can't disable / buy-out of ads. They throw something in your face after EVERY GAME. Not cool. I'm ready to give you my money of you promise to stop annoying me. 3. You have to suffer through simple instructions before EVERY GAME. Dude. I get it already. I'm a fan of the original Circus Atari. Can't say this version is anything more than a Doodle Jump knock-off, but it's got potential (if they fix the aforementioned annoyances). ### 2/5 — Craptastic *2012-07-25, version 1.3* I was hoping for a lot more from Atari. Crashes constantly, yes rebooted after install. Full screen forced ads that easily draws young children away. ### 3/5 — Fixes in 1.2 makes it worth a download *2012-06-28, version 1.2* Despite being called Circus Atari, it's basically a reskin of the various "jump higher" games out there. It's like if someone took Angry Birds, changed the birds into frogs, and called the game "Frogger". You play as a clown whose goal is to fly up, bounce off balloons and springs, and collect coins. Version 1.2 looks like they're working on fixing things, which is nice to see. Chests and keys now appear in an order that makes sense, the alternate clowns now work properly, and the layout of the sections has been altered greatly so there's a lot more treasure to pick up, making it feel much more rewarding to continue on upward. There's more ways to get coins in general, including a "daily reward" for opening the game at least once every day, and sponsor rewards commonly seen in free iOS games, which seems to replace the full screen ad that was bothering everyone. But it does lead to the game's remaining problem. There still isn't much to actually spend the coins on! Probably we'll be getting this in the next release. ### 3/5 — Good game *2012-06-28, version 1.2* Fun game but stop asking me if I want to buy a net or keep falling. Very annoying ### 2/5 — COULD BE SO MUCH BETTER! *2012-05-27, version 1.1* For those of us old school Atari fans who love the classics this is nothing like the old version we all loved and missed. This could be a good game but the mechanics are just too slow and the lag a killer. I'm really hoping for some updates because it could be good but it just needs more than a bunch of balloons. I'll be watching this one and hoping for more. Not too happy with the update. It still has poor controls and what is with the ads all of a sudden? COME ON! ### 1/5 — Good concept but... *2012-05-25, version 1.00* The actual Atari 2600 game "Circus Atari" would have been a great iPad app but this is not that game. Also, the lack of control in this game is such a large problem that it's complete failure on what it is trying to be. ### 3/5 — Eh... *2012-05-24, version 1.00* I don't normally complain about free apps, but I downloaded this one to see if it would be fun for my kids. I tried it out for a day on my iPad2 and it worked wonderfully. BUT once I loaded it on our kids' iPod Touch 4th generation and iPod Touch 3rd generation, it would kick them out before it finished loading. The app is useless at this point because it was for them and if they can't play it then there isn't much sense in having it. One the glitch is fixed I'd love to reload it on their iPods. ### 2/5 — Really horrible *2012-05-22, version 1.00* Takes forever to load, terrible lag, and horrible controls. It's almost impossible to steer your clown after you've hit him a half a dozen times to take off. Graphics look great and concept is cool but HORRIBLE lag. Music freezes up and terrible delay on gameplay -- this is with every program closed out and the iPhone 4S restarted! Good thing I made 6000+ about a week ago, because they added monkeys to the game! I have to say, one of the sounds is EXACTLY like the one those "creepy 'Wimpanzees'" make in the Tiny Zoo Friends app! ### 5/5 — Atari reinvents their Circus *2012-07-20, version 1.3* In the ever growing library of vintage game reboots. This game is most satisfying primarily because it's free. Sure, it's a Doodle Jump clone, but it's fun. The updates are cool, whether the different clowns enhance the gameplay, I can't tell, but the novelty fun is there. The only fault, besides occasional crashing, is the sound design. First on the clown selection screen, there is too much sound which results in an audio mess. Second, during play all the clowns sound the same while vocalizing umps crashing upward through balloons. ### 5/5 — Addictive game, great for kids *2012-07-19, version 1.3* Its a really fun and addictive game that I can also lets my kids play.
