### 3/5 — Struggling

*2026-05-31*

Like plenty of others have already pointed out a lot of these questions and answers are unnecessarily confusing. And it’s hard enough figuring out what the question is actually trying to ask, never mind learning anything useful from it.

When I first started using the app I genuinely tried to learn the material properly rather than just memorise answers. After a while I realised that wasn’t really happening. The wording of many questions is so awkward and misleading that you end up doing what most people probably do: repeating them over and over until you’ve memorised the right answer.

That feels a bit backwards to me. Surely the aim should be helping people understand and apply the information not forcing them to remember keywords just to get through the CSCS test.

The only thing I was a bit worried about before the exam was whether the actual test would be different from what I’d crammed using the app. Thankfully it wasn’t. The questions were very similar so all that memorising did the trick. Good news if you’re trying to pass the test …I suppose! Not such great news if the goal is actually learning something along the way.

**Developer response:** Dear Miladmhf.

Thank you very much for your taking the time to provide your feedback on the CITB HS&E test for Managers and Professionals.

We would like to take the opportunity to reflect on your feedback regarding the way in which the questions are asked. All questions and content has been developed by qualified HS&E experts, to ensure that it is relevant and applicable to today’s modern workforce. We have also worked with CSCS to ensure that the new test questions meet the minimum criteria required.

Our team continue to collate and review all feedback received from candidates; this includes a continuous review of the questions used in the test and I can confirm that remedial action is being taken where appropriate.

Thank you again for your feedback.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Money spin version

*2026-07-23, version 3.0.3*

This latest update and the question wording has been developed to ensure we all buy their latest revision material. They are no longer testing our knowledge but rather testing to see if we’ve bought their latest app/ book. The CiTB is not regulated and is being allowed to monetise over making operatives safe on construction sites.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2026-02-27, version 2.0.14*

Won’t even let me get past the registration page to start using it ??? What a waste of money.

### 1/5 — Cscs map test is a scam

*2026-01-29, version 2.0.14*

70% of the questions ate useless, why should i know what fire warden/ safety inspector are going to do.. If i just require this scam card for a site visit as a visitor?

### 1/5 — Maps app

*2025-02-27, version 2.0.7*

Not good and some times doesn’t make sense. Not a good app anymore. I did it 5years ago and the app was ok. The questions are poor as well. Trying to trick u instead of learning you the right way

### 1/5 — Confusing app system

*2025-02-24*

I needed to do an operative test and was told to get this app, the only difference on the logos is that this one says v10 so I thought it was just a newer version of the other app. I don’t have much money at the moment otherwise I wouldn’t care but I am currently needing to practice so that I can start an apprenticeship and I need to buy the other app but I purchased this one not realising it’s for managers because it’s the same logo. I understand this is also on me but can I please get a refund for this so that I can purchase the correct one as it was not clear and all though it’s only £7 I can’t afford to be paying for both as the whole point of me doing this is to start work

**Developer response:** Dear Customer,
This is a review page, for support plese use the support option in the app or email us at OperativesSupport@imagitech.co.uk. We will be happy to help you get a refund for your Managers and Professionals app (MAP) so that you can go ahead and purchase the Operative and Specialists app (OpSpec) from the store. These apps have different icons: Managers and Professionals shows as MAP and Operatives and Specialists shows as Op Spec. Also - the purpose of each app is fully described in the app store.

Please consider updating your review once this is resolved to your satisfaction - as it is likely to mislead other customers into thinking there is something wrong with the app or that this app is intended for Operatives.

### 1/5 — Terrible new version

*2024-12-04, version 2.0.6*

App is perfect. However, questions are toooooo long and the answers are so close each other. Nothing to remember for future. Not teaching…
V10 is the worst one.

### 1/5 — Monetisation

*2024-10-14*

Just amazed how i found out that after purchasing the CITB app….and doing the supervisor testing option from the menu….and FAILING the teat today…..that there’s a part 2 of the app which costs another 6£(not that i care) but that wasted my time!
Why couldn’t this stipulated VISIBLY that for MAP tests there’s a part 2 somewhere???
And why this can’t be integrated in one app??? So you can make £££££££ all the time by renewing cards and fees every 3,4,5 years!!! I had enough!!! Producing certifications all the time that confuses people and the industry!
If i got nvq6 site managing….where’s your clarity about holding an SMSTS in a hierarchy?? Nowhere!!!
You only care about making £££ !!!

**Developer response:** Dear Daniel,
CITB have ALWAYS produced two books, two CD ROMs, two apps, two downloads to support two different groups of people: One for Operatives and Specialists (GT100) and one for Managers and Professionals (GT200). The titles of these revision items clearly describes the types of candidates they are for. You bought GT100 for Operatiives and Specialists, in spite of the fact that you were intending to take a Managers and Professionals test. You have contacted our support team and we have done our best to help you obtain a refund for the purchase you made in error. GT200 is not a "part2" to GT100 - it is a separate app covering the needs of a separate cohort of users. Having two separate apps is not a "money making scheme" - the apps are the same price and the expectation is that any one person will only buy one or other app. Also, CITB is a "not for profit" organisation, as we have already pointed out to you. Finally, I should add that whilst CITB sets a syllabus and provides learning material and training courses, it does not set the requirements that the card issuers apply for obtaining their cards. Those are set by the card issuing organisations themselves. If you have an issue with those requirements, please contact the card issuing body (CSCS in your case) about that.

### 1/5 — You have to pay for updates

*2024-09-04, version 2.0.3*

Bought this app a while back which is helpful for passing the cscs test but I then started getting messages on the screen that I was using an out of date version and needed to update. The new version was £6.99 with pretty much the same questions! Rip off

### 1/5 — It crashes!

*2024-08-23, version 2.0.3*

When I was at the last question of the mock test, the app crashed!!! Pointless, it wasted 35mins of my time and didn’t even show the results!

### 1/5 — Managers Review

*2024-02-16*

This test for managers is way over the top for what is reqd. The questions and answers can be confusing with multiple answers with a twist to the wording. It seems this test is more concerned with making money from resits than getting people thru a system which for years has been a point of ridicule in the construction industry. Every senior client I have ever worked for employ full time professionals to set up inductions, create and approve RAMS handle and direct safety operations on a daily basis. Most senior construction workers do not need this high level of testing which causes stress and unnecessary concern, causes issues at work with employees studying for over a week during work hours to try and get a pass for a CSCS card.
I have over 50 years in the industry and along with many other colleagues put this down to a money making scheme by the govt.
As we are professionals in our own disciplines this is attempting to make us all professional safety officers. I agree safety is the most vitally important aspect in construction but this is way beyond that.

**Developer response:** Dear geomet1001,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the Manager and Professionals test and we are sorry to hear that you & your colleagues feel some of the questions are not relevant for your job roles.

The new test has been developed by qualified HS&E experts, to ensure that it is relevant and applicable to today’s modern workforce. We have also worked with CSCS to ensure that the new test is in line with scheme requirements.

The new Managers and Professionals test has been created to be relevant to the construction industry, not just specific job roles. Candidates taking the test will have a high level of responsibility within their roles. They have a duty to protect those they manage and even those they don’t. They must understand the risks of working in a construction environment, lead by example, and have the tools to embed and implement health and safety protocols and procedures.

The diverse audience taking this test ranges from managers and professionals who work in micro-sized businesses, to those that work for large major contractors with a full regime of bespoke training in place. For this reason the test is not role specific and broader in nature.

For more information or support with the test, including how to rebook should you need more time to revise, please visit our website.

Best Wishes
