If I try book through the app itself, 90% it says something has gone wrong and it cannot make a booking at this time. Leaving me to phone instead and not be able to live track my booking ### 2/5 — Unreliable with bugs *2025-05-27, version 41.6.0* I entered a Favourite location but it saved a different address. I had to cancel a booking and then it froze on a page saying Check your internet connection. Had to delete app and download again ### 2/5 — Ok functionality, will spam you *2024-12-18, version 41.5.0* Does what it needs to do for the most part, but will spam you with promotional notifications with no setting in the app to turn these off (contrary to Apple guidelines). Options are to delete the app or turn off notifications altogether. The clock dials drift off the numbers - most apps these days click and stick when the numerals change. So annoying. Worse any operation you try on an iPhone pulls down the screen - so def not a one handed job. Please fix ! ### 1/5 — Pointless using the app, would have been better using Uber *2024-03-20, version 40.2306.1* Booked a taxi to the airport the day before. On the morning of the booking the app said the taxi was 20 minutes away at the time they should have been picking me up. I called the office who told me they were very busy and and I should have planned ahead for delays. I have been travelling to London regularly 25 years so do not need to be patronised - a taxi booking service that allows you to pick a specific time should be reliable. When the driver arrived he said he had only received the job at the time the booking was due and he lived 20 minutes away. An unnecessarily stressful start to a long couple of days and I can’t help feeling that I was lied to by the helpdesk. ### 1/5 — Frustrated *2023-10-11, version 40.2306.1* Fails to recognise my login details and app becomes locked. ### 2/5 — You Will Pay a Premium for Using This Ap *2023-10-10* Used this to book a taxi to the Airport and it was about £5 more than the taxi meter showed. For the life of me I can’t understand what it wants- allows you to choose a position on map, then asks for more info and won’t accept it. Allows you to choose the airport, even asks for a flight, then just sits there - what does it want!!! ### 1/5 — Useless! *2023-09-24, version 40.2306.1* Avoid at all costs. Does not notify you when you have connected with driver. Pressing ‘done’ while searching takes you back to the first page, app sits in background still searching l found out. Again with no notification that it was searching or if driver was found. ### 2/5 — Poor pre booking *2023-09-18, version 40.2306.1* When booking a cab that is not the time they will arrive at your door. That is the time they will issue a job request to cabs, the person who accepts might be 30 minutes away (as what regularly happens to me) which means a 5am pre-book turns in to a 5:30am pick up. Which is annoying with a flagged airport run. ### 1/5 — Appalling service *2023-09-09, version 40.2306.1* This app generates inaccurate error messages, which resulted in me being charged for a ride I had not booked. I was informed by the app that the booking had not gone through, rebooked and ended up with two bookings (unbeknownst to me). This resulted in me being charged a cancellation fee for a ride I did not take. I had screen shot of the price but he was getting abusive so just paid so he would leave me alone. Would definitely NOT recommend especially for female travellers. ### 1/5 — Didn’t work for me *2026-01-23, version 41.10.0* Tried to book a car on the app, it was saying my location was completely different from where I actually was. I manually added the correct location and booked. The driver went to the wrong location as the app had booked pick up from the incorrect address and drop off at the correct address. Then the cab was cancelled. I felt sorry for the driver! I’ve now deleted the app. Easier to book the old fashioned way and call! ### 1/5 — Unreliable *2025-04-14, version 41.6.0* Unreliable ### 1/5 — Mr *2025-01-25, version 41.5.0* I booked 2 taxis on app. At least that what was confirmed. Only 1 arrived. Checking on the app I got the number of driver for 2nd. Phoned number be he didn't have booking. Phoned office and they said no. app doesn't take 2 bookings but doesn't tell you that. 30 yrs + with city cabs.. but that's it. . ### 1/5 — Not reliable… *2025-01-01, version 41.5.0* Pre-booked a taxi as expected it to be a busy time, booking was confirmed, but never showed up. I then phoned and spoke to an operator who confirmed they were still searching for a driver and I confirmed I still needed the taxi. About 10-15 minutes later, received a notification to say my booking was cancelled. Subsequently phoned back multiple times and eventually got through to be told no idea why cancelled but could book again. Complete waste of time so would avoid using them if possible. ### 1/5 — Cab doesn’t turn up *2024-12-12, version 41.4.0* App seems ok but Cab service is terrible. ### 1/5 — Spam *2024-11-29, version 41.4.0* Spams you with promotional notifications that discourage me from even having the app installed, let alone taking a taxi. ### 1/5 — Absolutely useless *2024-10-16, version 41.3.0* Pre-booked a cab for a 4am ride to the airport. Instead of actually pre-booking a cab, this app just started searching for the driver at 3:50. Needless to say, it didn’t find any. Absolutely useless, ended up calling an Uber. ### 1/5 — Avoid; it makes unauthorised charges *2024-10-02, version 41.3.0* If, as it asks when you set the account up. you give a credit card, on making a booking it charges the card and if the cab doesn’t arrive this charge is still there. They claim they’ll refund on complaint, but then ignore this. You can still use City Cabs without the app by making a phone booking, but the better way to avoid unauthorised charges from this firm is not to deal with them! ### 1/5 — App is not great *2024-08-24, version 41.1.0* Be aware if you connect Apple Pay to the app you get charged twice - although one payment does get reversed it takes quite a few working days to do that. Also the only way of removing a payment type is to delete the app. As other reviewers have said, very counterintuitive. City cab drivers are always great, but the app is terrible. Super easy setup with Apple Pay integrated. Not sure why there are mixed reviews, but assume that relates to older versions. Got a can very quickly. Uber cancelled more than once. The cab service even phoned once to verify my location and put me on the line with the driver to be sure he found me. They were both super friendly and kind. The cabs are clean, very roomy and safe. The fares were super reasonable for three of us to move around the city following our whims. I also scheduled an early morning pickup the day we left to get to the airport. The driver was on time, loaded and unloaded all our luggage and pointed us in the direction we needed to walk to get to our flight check in. I highly recommend this app and the kind people who operate City Cabs in Edinburgh! ### 5/5 — Clean cars, friendly drivers, always on time! *2022-05-16, version 40.13.53* Genuinely do not understand all the bad reviews! My family and I used this service at minimum 5 times during our trip in Edinburgh. Every single time, no matter whether early in the morning or at 9 PM the taxi arrived promptly, If not early! Never had a single ride cancelled on us. Every driver we had was also very friendly. One was kind enough to offer sight seeing suggestions for Edinburgh during one longer ride. Cars are spacious, clean and can accommodate luggage if need be.
