I’ve used this so many times and turnaround is amazing. This app is fantastic and I encourage others to use it for the 311 feature alone.  What is the problem you are reporting. Select the category. Take a pic of problem as directed by instructions. Add location (or choose your location). Add any description. That’s it!  And the details are saved so you can go back and follow up if it doesn’t get “closed”. Santa Monica is way ahead of so many other cities.

On a rare occasion they would respond to requests fairly quickly and send out the correct response fairly quickly. Other times they literally take months (2-4 months or more) to get a response from them. Even calling them is a hit or miss situation. 

One solution is to implement a similar system to NYC in some areas. Such as pickup’s, construction violations, parking violations, and similar. Let people take appropriate amount of pictures and/or videos of this stuff and send it in. If it’s a valid violation then the person who committed the violation will be ticketed. Maybe offer a few bucks per violation. This is because I’ve seen (and others too) so many construction and parking violations that either gets passed up, ignored, or the certain departments take way too long to respond and then the violation disappears. This solution could make the city a substantial amount of money and hopefully makes a difference.

Much better off contacting City Department directly - two week minimum turnaround is far too long. All my reported issues have vanished from the latest app update, will need to call 311 phone number to sort out negating use of the app.

This app is incredibly inconsistent!  Sometimes it works and I can get an old mattress picked up in alley and other times - like today- I spend 25 minutes trying to submit a request and fail!  I get error messages trying to save image for a request. It shows the address on the map and text bar at the top of the screen, but when I select “use this address “ it asks me to select an address on the next, final screen and won’t allow me to submit the request!!!  So frustrating! Why put out an app that doesn’t work?!?!?
