If I could give this pathetic excuse for a tour company zero stars—or better yet, negative stars—I absolutely would. City Tours Worldwide Madrid is nothing short of a fraudulent nightmare, preying on unsuspecting tourists with their broken, worthless app and utterly incompetent service. Just like that scathing review from a year ago that nailed it perfectly, this garbage app STILL doesn’t work in 2025! No live updates on bus locations? Forget it. Bus stops? Non-existent in their glitchy, outdated system. It’s like they built this thing in the Stone Age and forgot to update it ever since. I wasted hours standing in the blistering Madrid heat, staring at a blank screen, while their so-called “tours” vanished into thin air. What a joke! And don’t even get me started on their customer “service”—if you can call it that. These rude, brain-dead morons are the epitome of uselessness. I called them multiple times, only to be met with condescending attitudes, scripted nonsense, and zero actual help. They couldn’t care less about your problems; they’re probably too busy counting the money they stole from you. It’s infuriating how they dismiss complaints like you’re the idiot for expecting basic functionality. This isn’t service; it’s straight-up hostility! We unfortunately spent a lot of time looking at the app to see when buses would be arriving and the wait times were WAY off. Some buses would skip pickup locations. We would also see multiple other bus services come to pickup locations 2-3 times before a City Tour bus would arrive. Wish we would have chosen Big Bus. The app shows the bus route so it has a good map. What it needs is a description of EVERY location, not just a handful of them. There should be a way to click on a stop number on the map and read about the location. They do not provide that info on the paper maps on the bus, either. We want to know what we are seeing and why we should visit the stops. The audio on the but is ok, but we miss a lot of info because they continue to describe the stop AFTER they pass it. However, it’s the actual bus tour I’m reviewing - it’s not good BORING AND LONG. It takes hours because of the traffic (few bus lanes) so you waste a huge amount of time. Also they play random Barcelona music most of the time inbetween short explanations about the place, which repeat. Surely there’s more to say and tell about Barcelona - we’ve bought a TOUR BUS so tell us interesting and funny things about Barcelona!!! We abandoned it 1hour in and went back to much faster, cooler public transport. IT DOES NONE OF THAT. It shows you a static map of the routes with a vague marker of where the stops are. It does NOT show you where you are relative to the stop. It does NOT show you the address or direction to get to the stop you want to get on the bus. The paper map was infinitely more useful than the app and that says a lot. A kind tourist at the bus stop informed me that you have to use an entirely different app to purchase a ticket, otherwise I would have missed the bus entirely. Once you are on the bus the tour is great. ### 1/5 — App Not User Friendly *2025-10-28* The app is not user friendly. I had to click through the same screen to get to the routes. But there was no live tracking of buses, just an estimated time frame of arrival. Locations are also vague as to where they’ll be picking up. ## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Read the Useless - Basura entry *2019-05-26* I won’t waste my time writing a detailed review because the first one that appears does a great job explaining the worthlessness of the app. I had to see for myself. They were spot on. Don’t waste your time downloading the app unless it’s to buy tickets. ### 4/5 — Give it a chance *2025-08-23, version 2.0.11* I was a little suspect at first, but after speaking with one of the ticket attendants on the bus, used the app to purchase my tickets with a discount. I got a confirmation straight away with my tickets. Only downside is that your tickets can’t be store in the app, so we had to get out the paper QR codes receipt every time we embarked. The app itself was brilliant in Barcelona. It told us exactly where the busses were so we could see when the next one was due to arrive (granted on occasion I had to exit the app and reload it (I’m on iPhone 16pro - for anyone questioning a tech issue). I’d like to see more from the app on the different stops, sharing links to the attraction to provide more information. I also felt that the stops were quite a way from some of the attractions, with it not giving any indication as to where the attraction was in relation to the stop. ### 4/5 — Used in Barcelona *2025-08-06, version 2.0.11* I downloaded the app, purchased tickets on it and used throughout the day. Tours were great, we managed to do both coloured routes in a day in Barcelona, tours came with a map and headphones, so we felt like it was decent value. The app worked pretty well, showed my location and the location of buses, it was a little laggy, don’t expect it to be anything close to the maps already on your phone, I did have to close the app and reopen a couple of times to force it to update, and it drained my battery pretty quick, but honestly it wasn’t as bad as other reviews state, and was very useful for us. Buses got very packed just before lunch and then around 4/5pm when everyone was headed back so bear that in mind. ### 3/5 — Works but could be improved *2025-02-09* I was in Barcelona and had two options for a hop on hop off bus tour. The “official” one did not have any app vs this one did. I saw the reviews were nearly all one star! Thankfully everything worked out well. The app could be improved. It should remember which city you’ve selected every time you open the app. The “current location” should be more visible and there should be a button to manually refresh it (it often gets stuck). The route times and bus location was close enough and I didn’t have any issues with long waits on a Saturday. Audio on the bus was iffy. I had a better experience plugging in a Bluetooth dongle into the 3.5mm connection and using my AirPods. Too bad the audio can’t stream directly into this app. Overall I enjoyed my trip and this app helped my experience more than a paper map. If the app was updated with the fixes and new features I mentioned it would be even better! ### 3/5 — Good for attraction detail *2022-10-06* The app is decent, I used it in Granada, Spain. It gives detail of the monuments and attractions along the route. I thumbed through them manually. The train locator function did not work for me. We started our tour at a manned stop so the attendant filled us in on when the train would arrive. ### 2/5 — Not always working *2024-10-15* Used it in Barcelona! When it was working, was nice to see the bus tracking but app is buggy and bus tracking isn’t always working or live and hard to predict when the next bus will come! In Mexico City the city tour buses are actually branded turi-bus, and no mention is made of this. However, the app is frustrating to use. Display is not optimized for iPhone X. Purchases in the app just take you to their website, and clicking the wrong button made me restart the purchase several times. All the main functionality within a city is accessed via the + button in the lower right. Not intuitive. ### 2/5 — Locating stops is poor *2018-06-10, version 1.3.2* Downloaded to help me walk between stops in Barcelona. Barely helpful. Your location on the map compared to the stop can be wildly inaccurate. I ended up doing a lot more walking and chasing busses.
