## What is CivicVault?

CivicVault Camera helps you document public encounters when a clear, preserved recording matters.

Start recording quickly, then protect sensitive actions with your PIN or device authentication. Stop, delete, playback, and export flows are intentionally guarded so accidental taps or pressure in the moment do not erase the record.

CivicVault Camera is designed for lawful, visible recording in places where you have the right to record. It is not a covert surveillance tool and does not bypass iOS system protections. Physical device controls, force quit, battery loss, revoked permissions, explicit screen locking, or OS interruption can still stop recording. The app focuses on protecting the in-app workflow and preserving completed recordings as securely as possible.

Your recordings are yours. Completed vault segments are encrypted before storage, backed up to your private CloudKit database when enabled, and can be exported only after authentication.
