When we’re visiting family in other states and we cook together, I can quickly reference my favorite recipes. I’ve enjoyed leisurely days on vacation exploring the vast collection of cookbooks and preparing new dishes with family and friends. This is a must have app for the novice cook and the seasoned chef! ### 5/5 — I Love CKBK *2024-07-28* CKBK is a very convenient way to look at many different cookbooks without having to buy and store physical books. I own literally hundreds of cookbooks and of course I can never find a particular one. CKBK makes it easy to find specific cuisines and/or types of recipe thanks to their categories and search capabilities. I can save or print any recipes that look interesting to me. Plus, they are always adding books, and they post seasonal and other relevant articles. You have access to ton of cookbooks reference books all kinds of cookbooks all cookbooks new cookbooks. I requested a refund because I don’t think I should pay for something that doesn’t make all information available. Well the customer service wasn’t as pleasant. So be careful. ### 1/5 — Scam *2024-10-24* Very limited selection of books. The user interface makes navigating the limited selection of books incredibly hard. When I went to cancel my subscription, the link to cancel does nothing. I clicked on the “contact us” link and it crashes the app. When you try to log in on the web it just takes you back to the app. Not sure if it is on purpose so you can’t cancel or if it was programmed by 8 year olds. Either way stay far far away from this garbage **Developer response:** UPDATE - once again, we apologize for the crash you experienced when clicking the Contact Us link. This was caused by a software version compatibility, which has now been resolved. If you download version 1.8.12 the Contact Us page works as expected. The temporary issue with app store subscription management is also now fixed. Again, sorry that you ran into problems. Your experience does not reflect that of the majority of ckbk users, and the subject line of your review is inaccurate. We offer a service which is trusted by many thousand of home cooks and professional chefs. One useful reminder is that when you subscribe to app such as ckbk via the App Store, you can manage your subscription easily in the same place within the App Store that you manage all your subscriptions. If you contact ckbk customer support we will always address any issues and look into any reports of the app crashing (which is exceptionally rare). You can always easily contact ckbk at support@ckbk.com ### 1/5 — Waste of money *2024-08-17* They advertise and show the cover of premium Cook Books but you have to buy them to see the recipes and dishes - pointless paying for the application if you can’t access the premium recipes unless you pay extra … I found much better applications that are also user friendly - disappointing Don’t get caught paying for premium **Developer response:** Which cookbook are you referring to? ckbk Premium Membership offers full unlimited access to more than 850 cookbooks. All the books which appear in our advertising *are* included in Premium Membership… ### 1/5 — Difficult to use and just a way to sell books. *2023-04-17, version 1.6.6* I thought it would be a useful tool as a chef. Difficult to navigate and mainly a way to sell books. ### 1/5 — Ckbk is greedy *2022-12-18* I took an annual membership. At first i was quite impressed. Unfortunately, i then found that the app just wants ti sell cookbooks. Another example of greed. Hardy use the app now. Get a better selection from simple internet searches. **Developer response:** Hi Percy - ckbk offers access to an ever-increasing number of cookbooks (more than 670 at the present time) included in the ckbk subscription. However, there are some publishers who do not work with subscription models - this applies, for example, to Yotam Ottolenghi's books. Because of this, ckbk makes certain iconic books from authors such as Ottolenghi available as optional add-ons, for the ebook price. It is not ckbk's choice to charge extra for these books - it is simply the only way that these books can be made available to users of ckbk. If you prefer not to see results from these optional add-on books when you search ckbk, you can hide them via settings. ### 1/5 — Copywriter check *2021-06-11* Before I started using this app I wanted to know if the authors of the books are involved and if they have given their approval for you to use their recipes? So you can use ckbk with confidence that the cookbook creators are being rewarded for their work. ### 2/5 — Over charged *2025-02-13, version 1.9.7* I was recommended this app and was delighted when I found it was on offer for one year it was £19.99 so went ahead and subscribed. But unfortunately they charged me full price at £39.99, I have emailed and no response! It pulls together the best ideas from a huge range of cookbooks, showing how the same dishes can be made in many different ways. Although access to some big-name authors requires an up-charge, the real treasure is the vast collection of free content, including professional recipes, historical dishes, and countless interpretations of in between. I’m not sure how many years I’ve had this app, again though I would like to thank Matt, and staff for your efforts in keeping this app fresh and interesting.
