• This publication is the only one in the market that offers dietary guidance for CKD AND its combination with the following most likely health issues: anemia (iron deficiency), diabetes (types 1 and 2), obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, stress and Vitamin D deficiency.

• Separate guidelines for patients who need to consume: less phosphorous, less potassium, or more potassium. Also included is a detoxification diet to reduce the burden on kidneys and improve the immune system.

“This technology was developed using the most current clinical evidence-based information that is available in the US. Behind this technology there is a team of expert clinicians, scientists, endocrinologists, oncologists, and other specialists who are passionate about bridging the gap between expert knowledge and the patient.“
Katya Tsaioun, PhD, Nutrition, Tufts University; L.D.N.

“Proper nutrition and other alternative treatments show great promise in preventing and treating many of the illnesses that we deal with every day. I encourage all my patients to follow appropriate nutrition and research other options for themselves. The Choose This Not That series are an excellent step towards improving people’s knowledge in this area.”
Shahin Tabatabaei, MD
Mass General Hospital (Urology); Harvard Medical School

“The Choose This Not That series of apps provide dietary recommendations focused on common chronic health problems. They are easy to understand and thus easy to implement into daily life. Most doctors would find it difficult to discuss dietary recommendations at the level of detail found in the series. They should serve as a valuable complement in helping people manage chronic illnesses through dietary and lifestyle modifications.”
Andrew S. Lenhardt, MD
Lahey Clinic, Hamilton, MA

### 1/5 — Code.

*2023-09-24*

That’s app keeps kicking me out saying I need a code and then do my password but when I click on the code it kicks me out of the app if I click on password it kicks me out of the app.

### 1/5 — AWFUL

*2021-05-11, version 1.0*

This is a mess. A tangled database. Not worth the money. Type 2 diabetic with stage 4 Kidney failure. Low potassium low phosphorous. Requesting a refund. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

### 1/5 — Eat This Not That

*2020-08-21, version 1.0*

Not even worth the energy to download much less the price. I deleted this app the first hour after I purchased it. The information is limited and can be found on the CKD resources on line at no cost!

### 1/5 — Is this an active app

*2020-05-08, version 1.0*

Sadly I can’t even get it to setup.

**Developer response:** Wish you had contacted us via email so we could help. The most common problem when setting up profile is people forget to close the on-screen keyboard before attempting to tap on Sign Up or Save button.

### 1/5 — Don’t do it

*2019-09-26, version 1.0*

Total waste of money. I can’t even get signed up for an account. The app doesn't work at all.

Someone please tell me how to get my money back.

**Developer response:** Wish you had contacted us directly, so we could help you earlier. You need to close your on-screen keyboard before you can tap on Login or Save buttons.

### 1/5 — Fix it and I will rate higher and change my review!

*2019-06-27, version 1.0*

I read several other reviews and they’re all the same. This app gives wrong information. I put my profile on CKD with low potassium and it STILL told me things like bananas were okay. THEY’RE NOT OKAY! AT ALL!
I. WANT. MY. MONEY. BACK.

### 1/5 — Horrible App

*2018-09-26, version 1.0*

Please don’t buy it. You can’t even open the app. Totally useless. Design by thief’s!

**Developer response:** I am sorry that you could not open the app. I wish you had contacted us so we could help you to do so. Naturally no app gets listed on Apple App Store if there is an issue with opening and running the app.

### 1/5 — Huge Disappointment

*2018-05-23, version 1.0*

Waste of time!

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. We would really appreciate it if you could elaborate on where we did not meet your expectation or what capabilities in our app description, we did not deliver on. Thank you.

### 1/5 — Do Not Buy

*2018-05-22, version 1.0*

This app is garbage it doesn’t work. You can’t even click or speak. I’m disputing the charge.

**Developer response:** Sorry about your experience, but you need to close the on-screen keyboard before you can tap on any buttons. The app works well and it is our top selling app among 36 apps.

### 1/5 — Inaccurate Info

*2018-04-28, version 1.0*

Having kidney disease and high potassium I have been looking for an app that would be a quick reference to let me see foods that are high in potassium. I found this I was excited and purchased it. My first meal I started looking around at different items and how much potassium they had. I decided to check on a few items that I knew were extremely high in potassium as a benchmark. Things like potatoes, oranges and bananas. All these items were reported on this app as below normal potassium leading me to believe that this app is very inaccurate if the top potassium foods are reported as below normal. Because this is a matter of life and death for me I don’t recommend this app at all.

**Developer response:** For those CKD patients that need to restrict potassium intake, you should have selected CKD (less Potassium) option in your health profile, which the app would have then identified the most helpful and harmful items for you. For example, potatoes ARE listed as harmful for CKD (less potassium) condition. In our app, we do NOT list or identify potassium content of any food! But we do take into account ALL helpful and harmful nutrients relevant to your selected health profile, which in your case, in addition to potassium, includes cholesterol, CoQ10, saturated fat, phosphorous, protein, sodium, refined sugar and vitamin B-6.
