## What is Clanker AI?

Create your own AI companions — characters with personality, a real voice, and a memory that lasts.

Clanker is an AI character app where you design the companions you talk to. Give each character its own personality and look, then chat by text or call them for a live voice conversation that feels like a real phone call.

WHAT MAKES CLANKER DIFFERENT

• Memory that learns — your characters remember your conversations across sessions, and they can learn from documents you upload (PDFs, Word docs, images) and from live web searches mid-conversation.
• Live voice calls — natural, uninterrupted back-and-forth on speakerphone. Interrupt mid-sentence and your character adapts; ask it to search the web and hear the results spoken aloud.
• Enhanced Privacy Mode — flip one toggle and a character's memories and chat history stay strictly on your device, never in the cloud. Per character: keep some local-only, sync others.
• Your memory, your data — export any character's complete memory in OKF, the open format introduced by Google Cloud. Edit it in Obsidian or any Markdown editor, back it up, or clone a new character from it.
• Open source — our code is public. You don't have to take our word on privacy; anyone can verify how your data is handled.
