There’s no way to fast forward through the saved recordings so you can’t scan for past events. On my system the filter for ‘events’ doesn’t work, so all I see are the many, many false motion events, triggered by wind, snow, rain, and even dust on my interior camera. The first week it was installed, I received 100’s of false motion alerts, so I had to disable notifications, which makes the system worthless - unless you just want to watch live video. Also system is slow to update and some of the motion event downloads fail. This app/system needs a lot of work. Very disappointed with the system in general. Should’ve saved the money and just gotten a Ring camera! ### 1/5 — Extremely Disappointed *2025-01-24* My builder installed this security camera system in my newly built home. So far I’ve been unbelievably disappointed with the app that controls the system. For example, why is it so difficult to install and configure the app on my iPad? The app isn’t intuitive at all! At this point I’m researching other systems to ClareVision. ### 1/5 — Won’t load image or feed *2024-09-30, version 2.1.8* This app can’t load a feed or image fast enough for me to see who’s ringing my doorbell, so it’s not useful or helpful. Sometimes it won’t load anything at all, despite several tries, while whoever or whatever rang the bell has already left the neighborhood. ### 1/5 — App crashes constantly! *2024-08-14, version 2.1.8* Have to keep removing doorbell device from the app and re-adding it just to keep doorbell recordings working. We get a notification that there is movement at our door but there is no recording. Frustrating! ### 1/5 — Been using for a year. *2024-06-09, version 2.1.8* For about 70% of the time it works as expected. I’ve had multiple issues with the camera disconnecting or not operating as it should. For instance, right now, I receive motion notifications, but am unable to load the live view or see if there’s any saved events. Has been going on for the last week at this point. I guess I’ll have to call support again to fix. Would love to promote this as the hardware is nice, but the software is very lacking compared to off the shelf competition at a much lower price. ### 1/5 — Worst ever *2024-05-08, version 2.1.8* Avoid this security camera app. The motion events never show in the app, and even the love video feed is not great. ### 1/5 — Notifications stop working *2024-03-10, version 2.1.8* Notifications stop working after 2 weeks. While unplugging the NVR and rebooting fixes the problem, the notifications stop working again after 2 weeks. This is an ongoing issue now since months and hope someone at Clare can advise how to fix. ### 1/5 — Worst ever *2024-03-05, version 2.1.8* We’re spoiled the Nest UI. This up is horrible. Spinning wheels everywhere. Playback is horrible. Will get rid of this filth. ### 1/5 — To buggy unstable *2023-12-08* I tried really hard to want to love this product. I sold several of the systems over the years and I’ve had nothing but issues with every single one of them. The biggest issue with this manufacture is the fact that their app does not always connect and let you view live footage and when you’re connected to the same network, the camera systems on. The other issue that I have with this app is it used to do cool things like let you watch in fast-forward and rewind they have completely removed that functionality and trying to find something in recorded footage is a joke. you can tell this is a product that not a lot of time has gone into ironing out the issues with the system. When you contact manufacturer, you’re always told that an update will fix it on the next update that update comes and nothing ever is fixed. ### 1/5 — Dont buy *2023-11-06, version 1.3.5* It’s a rip off. You cant control everything. Cameras are recording even nothing is happening. Waste of money. ### 1/5 — Not Stable and unreliable! *2023-10-13* I have used this product for a few years now and it has been reliable until recent. Lets be very clear this is a security product and should always work IOS updates should not affect this product as often as it has. Currently when you open the app you get a blank screen after playing with settings you can get the image to load but not always and it happens a-lot. Every time IOS has an update this app has issues. The app is the only way to use this product so when its not working your left will a useless camera system. I have all the manufacturers recommendations on the NVR but still have issues. Have even replace the NVR at this point with a new one and it did fix one issue with the device it now has this issue. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2023-08-28, version 1.3.5* Terrible app, cameras are so sensitive they record constantly when nothing is happening. No way to adjust sensitivity. For the price of the cameras you would think there would be some options to adjust sensitivity of camera, but sadly there is not. I would re think buying this security camera and get another one with a better app and one you can adjust record sensitivity ### 1/5 — Worst camera system I’ve ever had *2023-08-23, version 1.3.5* If you want to sit and watch live video, this is the camera system for you. If you want to actually go back and find a certain event, forget it. The app is totally useless. We’ve had another video system on another house and even Ring on our current house and they are functional. This software is useless! ### 1/5 — Notifications don’t show custom channel names *2023-07-27, version 1.3.5* The app is ok, however notifications are an issue if you have multiple cameras. While the app lets you name each “channel”, the notifications will only show the original channel number (e.g. “Channel_1”) when there is a motion alert, which makes it difficult to know which camera had a motion event. ### 1/5 — Can’t adjust settings, event history doesn’t load *2023-07-09, version 1.3.5* We have been using this app for 2 months. Our event history for our 6 cameras won’t load (spinning circle). There appears to be no way to change notification settings. I have them turned on in the app and iPhone Settings and get zero. Notifications should be customizable by phone / user, not account. Wish we had known how bad it would be before buying the cameras ### 1/5 — Poor app *2023-05-01* The app takes a bit to view live cameras and playback barely works and usually spins while trying to load. This is when I’m at the camera site with great Wi-Fi. This is really a poor app that doesn’t provide for scrolling back history and forces you to scroll through several saved history recordings. The IPAD app without landscape option??? ### 1/5 — No landscape support, seriously? *2023-04-09* This app is okay, but it does not properly support landscape on iPad. It doesn’t work in the grid view at all, and it’s mostly broken for playback. That is ridiculous in 2023, ESPECIALLY for an app whose entire purpose is to play video. So one star is all it’s worth until that’s fixed. ### 1/5 — Amongst the worst investments I’ve ever made *2022-11-01, version 1.3.1* I’m $200,000 into this smart home with control4 and ClareVision, and I have 16 of these cameras which are supposed to provide sound and video. The sound is imperceptible for starters. Useless. There is no rewind or fast forward feature, so if you need record of a 10 second incident, be prepared to watch a 3+ hr clip to find it. After you find that clip, you can’t download it, so be prepared to watch it all over again and use your iPhones screen record and just the exact moment to capture it or you have to watch it all over again. Nightmare. I cannot express the level of frustration these have caused. They are utterly useless in ever single way. Save all your money, and go with nest cameras, which I’ve owned in previous homes and had to replace each of these with in this new home. Clare has completely missed the mark. Pure garbage at an outrageous price. Run. Run. RUN AWAY! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not a very friendly app *2026-07-04, version 2.1.8* I have had the app for about 6 months, unfortunately I loose connection to history of videos on my doorbells. Then I have to remove the app, then reinstall and hope it all talks again. Also it will not let you set your zones in the app where the cameras will capture video. ### 1/5 — Sad *2026-01-30, version 2.1.8* Worst functionality ever, I could have purchased a much cheaper system and be 1000 times happier. If we go into the history it just says “no events recorded”. Then one day it’ll randomly start recording again for a couple days then crash again for weeks. Super frustrating and not straight forward for finding a fix. Clare get your stuff together…. ### 1/5 — These Products Stink *2025-06-19, version 2.1.8* Let me preface by saying I have worked in I.T. for many years including supporting video systems. These products are terrible. The video doorbell bases its time settings off the mobile app & is often incorrect. My other camera times change often also. The app will not save the Notification settings (I have tried to turn them off). You also cannot leave doorbell on & the other off. Ring is by far a superior option ### 1/5 — ⭐ Doorbell Disappointing and Unreliable *2025-03-15, version 2.1.8* I had high hopes for the ClareVision doorbell, but unfortunately, it has been nothing but a disappointment. From the start, the functionality felt half-baked, with unreliable motion detection, poor integration, and a frustratingly slow app experience. If you’re looking for a reliable smart doorbell, look elsewhere. My installer set up my cameras and detection areas and this app is perfect for viewing, zooming in, and simple playback.
