FileMaker war mal ne richtig gute Sache. Hatte Ende der 90er meine Buchhaltungssoftware damit selbst geschrieben. Danach meine Netzwerkverwaltung. Doch FileMaker hat sich seitdem kaum weiterentwickelt und ist heute nicht mehr zu gebrauchen. Es fehlen grundlegende Dinge, wie eine moderne Skriptsprache und Schnittstellen zu anderen Ressourcen. Habe daher seit gut zehn Jahren dann aufgehört, FileMaker an Kunden zu empfehlen.

Ich war sehr lange ein begeisterter Anwender von FileMaker Go. Seit neuestem sind aber meine Daten auf dem iPad gefangen (iPadOS 17.4). Bei jedem Versuch, eine Datenbank abzuspeichern, zu versenden oder Daten daraus zu exportieren, stürzt die App gnadenlos ab. Damit sind aber nicht nur die Daten nicht mehr anderweitig nutzbar, zusätzlich kann ich natürlich auch keine Verbesserungen mehr an der Datenbank selbst auf meinem Mac durchführen.

The app requires registration and requests a registration code sent to your email.  When you leave the app to check your email to get the code, upon returning to the app to enter the code the app refreshes the screen and loses the code input field, so it is impossible to enter the authentication code if you are using a single device.  The work-around is to buy two iPads. One for reading emails and one for running FileMaker Go.

Unfortunately this app requires purchase of FileMaker Pro to actually create tables and views. That program lags way behind modern SQL and noSQL databases and is buggy and non standard. On top of that, the commands on the mobile version often do not work. For instance, location data fails. You cannot enable location services for FileMaker go in recent IOS releases.
