### 4/5 — Mouse Support

*2025-02-20, version 6.1*

Keyboard support is here, would be nice if the mouse locked into the game (like how Minecraft does it)

### 2/5 — No custom map support?

*2024-11-06, version 6.1*

Only the game’s stock map can be played. No community maps can be selected or hosted. Insane!

### 3/5 — Amazing, but stuck in “Rage”

*2024-06-22, version 5.11*

I understand that Marathon Infinity has different story lines based on how one performs throughout. But I’m now playing the “Rage” chapter for the 4th time (starting with ACME station, ending with Where are Monsters in Dreams). I thought it was a punishment for not killing all aliens in the chapter, but it now looks more like a glitch. Any help is welcome.

### 4/5 — Would love backbone support!

*2023-12-26, version 5.11*

I know this game isn’t really updated much anymore but would kill for controller support!

### 3/5 — Please add auto recenter view option.

*2023-10-13, version 5.11*

Plz

### 4/5 — Backbone Support

*2022-07-15, version 5.8*

It would be awesome to have this game bootable from the Backbone app. Marathon 1 and 2 can already do this. Otherwise, game is great!

### 5/5 — Re-add the map builder.

*2021-02-18, version 5.4*

Coming back to this game just now, it has been an amazing experience replaying this game. Multiplayer and Campaign are both good. I just wish map building can be remade.

### 5/5 — Help 2 ?

*2020-02-20, version 5.1*

I want to use the Classic weapon textures but I also want to use the HD renderer for the levels is there a way for me To use both the HD graphics renderer and the classic weapons textures

### 5/5 — great to have these classics updated

*2019-10-07, version 4.6*

eager to play these again with a controller, but my brain only works with inverted aim

would also be nice to be able to disablr the texture filtering on both walls and enemies to get a look closer to the originals

### 5/5 — High Praises to Developer

*2019-08-01, version 4.2*

I can’t thank you guys enough for updating the series. I have been waiting a long time and cannot believe it’s finally here in all its glory! You guys have done a stellar job with all 3 updates and hope that you are able to continue. I tried to donate but apparently the donate button is not working properly? Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

### 5/5 — FINALLY!!!

*2019-02-23, version 4.0.3*

I’ve been waiting for this to be updated for the new iOS. Really fun port.

### 3/5 — Port is OKAY

*2018-12-03, version 2.10*

PLEASE UPDATE FOR IOS11!

I have played the original game on my PC, and on XBLA. Yes iPhone is limited with controls, but I feel like the game(the trilogy ports)could use a few changes.
1.sensitivity on the movement analog could be toned down a bit.
2.the ability to change field of view between default or higher FOV
3.toggle on/off two things
     A. Invert y axis
     B. auto center on/off
4. Ability to rearrange icons on screen.

Other than that its a decent port.
If you wanna okay for the story, just play it on easy as the controls take some getting used to.

### 4/5 — No access to App Store...

*2016-12-17, version 2.10*

A great game, but none of the features you are told you can purchase through the App Store are available... it simply won't connect. Please please fix!

### 4/5 — GREAT PORT OF A GREAT GAME.....BUT!

*2016-12-06, version 2.10*

I played pathways beta and when this came out it was fantastic ,Marathon and Durandal played well but alas Infinity displays a cancel sign and did work until the latest IOS.
Now there is no access to the AppStore at all
Can only hope a fix is on the way as this was and is one of the most impressive games I ever played,a network version would be fantastic and the ability to completely convert this game and add the thousands of new maps and total conversions could be a big money spinner.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2016-08-03, version 2.10*

An excellent port of a truly amazing 90's gem. Challenging, but definitely worth downloading for FPS fans.

### 3/5 — Great port, make better controls.

*2016-08-02, version 2.10*

It is literally impossible to beat "Whatever You Please" because of how finicky the controls are. You can't navigate the narrow walkways unless you go extremely slowly, but if you go slow the compilers will shoot you and knock you off into the lava. Someone needs to make an Aleph Two port for desktop computers, since Aleph One is too old now.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2024-07-26, version 5.11*

You can’t use the Backbone or any other controller with this game that requires a keyboard and mouse back in the day when it first released. Why do I need to have my fingers all over the screen when I have a controller?

### 1/5 — Controller support

*2022-05-10, version 5.8*

Needs controller support

Edit: needs Backbone controller support

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2016-11-27, version 2.10*

While visually, it still remains true to the original, it seems like the app was rushed out of beta.
The control scheme is horrid, that alone makes this game virtually unplayable.
I could be wrong, but it might be laziness on the developer's part. Touch screen controls for FPS type games isn't anything new, and many have done a good job with it. Here its makes the game unmanageable. I have difficulty with moving while aiming at an angle (app automatically reverts to a direct horizontal view upon any movement), switching weapons in a timely manner, dual wielding (again a challenge for touch screens but many other FPS apps have managed this quite well) interfacing with doors, elevators, and terminals (due to the awkward position of the interface buttons) etc... Moreover the HUD controls are a complete eye sore.

The game crashes quite a bit, the initial load up time is quite too long, and bugs persist on many levels (some levels cannot advance, so have to restart saved games, others will advance to levels out of sequence to the original game)

I have to give this app 1 star.
Well intended, poorly executed.

### 1/5 — Crashes!

*2016-06-12, version 2.10*

This is the best game ever produced, but it crashes on the latest version of iOS! The game must be playable to be enjoyed! Fix the crashes so I can update this review to the 5 stars Marathon Infinity deserves!

### 1/5 — Keeps on crashing

*2016-04-05, version 2.10*

Can't go further than the 1st level :( keeps on crashing while loading a new level. :(

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2015-08-23, version 2.10*

I'm on a iPhone 6 Plus with IOS 8.1.2 and all 3 of the Marathon games are not working. I haven't played the series before so I was hoping this port would work. I'll update my software today, but since the last update for the game was 2 years ago I doubt it will do much.

### 1/5 — Sadly Unplayable on iOS 8

*2015-07-29, version 2.10*

I wanted to give this a full five stars; I really did. I grew up with the Marathon Trilogy on the Mac OS and still play it to this day. However, while the mobile versions of Marathon and Marathon 2 worked fine under previous versions of iOS, it appears that the entire app trilogy, including Infinity, is now affected by a bug under iOS 8 that causes the game to repeatedly jump back to the menu or crash to the home screen.

Unfortunately this problem makes the game outright unplayable, and so I can't really give it a score higher than one.

### 1/5 — Broken under iOS 8

*2015-02-19, version 2.10*

There is a show stopper bug that prevents you from starting a game. The port was awesome but clearly not supported any longer.

### 1/5 — Used to work

*2015-01-01, version 2.10*

I used to play this game way back when on my Mac. Was stoked to have it on my old iPhone 4s, and just put it on my iPhone 6. Unfortunately it no longer works. Can't get past the start / difficulty setting page before crashing.

Sad. I would love to play.

### 1/5 — Latest update is bad

*2013-04-04, version 2.9*

This latest update has made this game un playable on my 4s. Half the screen is covered by a menu. Rubbish!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Dear Classic Marathon

*2026-01-07, version 6.7*

I love this gun so much! It is actually a good game! But shame, Bungie made it into extract game…

### 5/5 — Marathon!

*2026-01-06, version 6.7*

Halo!
OG Bungie!

### 5/5 — Dear Fans of Marathon

*2025-09-18*

If you read this, I...want to make what after the Marathon Trilogy. What after 92 or maybe 93 years when Marathon is gone and our beloved main-character is "dead" or trapped in timeline. I cannot make a game of this Aleph One engine, of course. Nor you guys can see my talks. But this time, let's revive it, with the story I am going to make: Classic Marathon: Interloper. Sounds cool, same as old as times. No longer the same officer but his destiny is always same...

### 5/5 — Not the new marathon, bungle.

*2025-09-06*

If you read this, please, please bring us back the new marathon, after triology, then Apotheosis X, now we need new one. The truly new story of the Marathon’s legacy. Please

### 5/5 — Great Fun

*2025-08-30, version 6.5*

Thanks for bringing this to iPhone! Good work

Now that last update to 1.1 does not launch on iOS 15.8.4.

### 5/5 — Another update to this Classic!

*2024-11-20, version 6.1*

Glad to see this game brought back to life. I really enjoyed the Marathon series but had to say goodbye over the years as this Mac Classic was lost to two major CPU shifts by Apple. The HDR graphics upgrade makes this game look even better than it ever did before. And now the Spatial Audio and background music from fans takes it to a new level.
Thanks for bringing this 1996 game to new life

### 5/5 — Added controller support! Thanks

*2023-10-19, version 5.11*

Don’t know why sources say it doesn’t support controller when I’m able to play it with my backbone controller, great combo if I ask me , legendary franchise as well

### 5/5 — Support from the developer is unmatched.

*2022-09-18, version 5.9*

I was so amazed when I found out my favorite childhood game got a mobile port, with full controller support and updated graphics nonetheless.

### 5/5 — Great Fun

*2022-09-12, version 5.9*

Thanks for bringing this to iPhone!

Good work

### 5/5 — Another update to this Classic!

*2021-10-22, version 5.7*

Glad to see this game brought back to life. I really enjoyed the Marathon series but had to say goodbye over the years as this Mac Classic was lost to two major CPU shifts by Apple. The HD upgrades make this game look even better than it ever did when I first played it back in the 90's on my Mac Performa 630. The music in this game still is the most eery soundtrack I have ever heard in a game.
