• The page number in the Contents now matches the number printed at the foot of the page.

• Search finds a phrase even when it breaks across two lines of verse, or across a page.

An update devoted to the comfort of reading.

• Japanese and Chinese: furigana and pinyin now have room of their own above each line and no longer touch the text above — larger type sizes included.

• Opening a book you are reading in another language turns the page with its usual animation again.

• Small refinements in the reader: the controls are easier to see, and the About and Support screens appear in your language again.

Homer’s Odyssey joins the library — in English, French and Spanish, each translated directly from the Greek rather than from one another. It now opens the shelf.

Books open smoothly again, with a quiet note while the pages are set, and changing the type size or theme settles at once. Downloads show their progress and can be retried if the connection drops. And when a book isn’t in your language yet, you can ask for that translation in a tap.

On iPad, the reading controls now line up with the text.
