The engaging graphics and sound effects mean tasks get completed in a fun and efficient way. The teacher sets the target amount of time for the class to perform a particular task. The countdown timer is then started. The timer can be viewed from the Apple device itself or displayed on a larger format device such as an interactive board or TV screen using screen mirroring features of the Apple Devices. If the class completes the task in the defined time limit the teacher can tap the "tick" button and the "Well Done" screen is displayed and a fanfare sound effect is played. However, if the class run out of time the Alarm rings on the clock, the clock bounces around the screen and then explodes in a comic fashion. This app really encourages students to complete any assigned task, the students can see graphically how much time they have left to complete the task. The teacher is able to pause, restart and reset the timer at any time. The app has an audible "ticking" sound when the timer is running, the teacher can enable and disable this by simply tapping the speaker button on the apps main screen. The Fanfare and Explosion sound effects can be controlled via the audio controls on the Apple device. This is a simple but fun and engaging app to assist the teacher in their classroom management activities. Now it’s not working. The App Store says it’s not available. Too annoying to use when they are constantly harping on wasting sacred educational time!! **Developer response:** Hi JhollysFolly, Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This is an oversight on our part. Whilst we do need ads in our free version of the app (that is how we can afford to make it for free) there were far more ads showing than we had realized. We have now adjusted the ad display settings so that: 1) Video ads are not displayed at all 2) We have severely restricted the static image ads, you should not see more than 4 in a day and with at least 30 minutes between them. This should minimize any disruption to your classroom, but if you feel it is not working as I have just described, please feel free to email us at support@academyapps.net and I will be happy investigate further. ### 1/5 — New Ads are Extremely Intrusive *2018-09-14* This used to be great. Now there are full screen ads (often with video!) that start when you try to start a timer. Imagine, a full class watching the projector screen waiting for a timer, when an ad for a video game pops up. Total nightmare. I can’t decide if I’m going to pay to upgrade to the “pro” version or just pay to use a different app, as their new ad system was so disruptive and frustrating. Seriously, if you want to create an ad paywall there are much better ways to do so (provide restricted/limited use, header or bottom ad bars, even less intrusive ads). **Developer response:** Hi Christoble, Apologies for the very delayed reply. I can use the app on my iPad Air with no issues but I do not bring my iPad to work!
