## What is ClassTiles Gradebook +?

Another gradebook app? No. ClassTiles is the complete digital desk for teachers — ready to use in minutes, no training required. Grades, lesson planning, calendar, groups, seating charts, documentation, and class to-dos all work from one shared set of data: set up your class once, and every tool uses it instantly.

WHAT MAKES CLASSTILES DIFFERENT
• Start right away instead of studying menus: the smart grade table asks you a few questions and builds your individual table structure — no nested menus, no manual needed.
• One data set instead of isolated tools: the exam grade, the project group, and tomorrow's seating chart all come from the same class and student data — nothing is maintained twice.
• Your students' data stays with you: no user account, no vendor server, no ads, no tracking. The app works fully offline; if you choose to sync, it runs exclusively through your personal iCloud.
• Buy once instead of subscribing: no running costs.
• Truly native apps for iPad, iPhone, and Mac — not a web service in an app shell.

GRADING THAT FITS YOUR TEACHING
• Every class gets gradebooks with freely designed tabs — exams, oral participation, terms, projects: you define the structure.
• Custom grading scales, including symbol and level scales (e.g. "achieved / partly / not achieved") — great for primary school and special education.
• Weighting, configurable rounding, and statistics with averages, distribution, and trends: see at a glance where a class or a single student stands.
• Export as PDF and Excel — for grading conferences, parent meetings, or your records.

FROM GRADEBOOK TO CLASSROOM
• Groups at the tap of a button: mixed-ability, similar-ability, or random — based on your actual grades, optionally gender-balanced.
• Seating charts created quickly and adjusted just as fast.
• Record observations, conversations, and classroom events per student — everything at hand for the next parent meeting.

PLAN & ORGANIZE
• Weekly calendar view with your timetable; handwritten notes with Apple Pencil (iPad).
• Prepare lessons with materials and attachments.
• Class tasks: to-do lists for everything around your class — field trip, parents' evening, supplies. Use them on your own or share them via link with your class team: everyone sees what's open and what's done, and checks things off together.

YOUR DATA, YOUR CONTROL
• Everything lives on your device. iCloud sync is optional and uses only your own iCloud account.
• Back up wherever you want: locally, to iCloud Drive, or to your own WebDAV server (e.g. Nextcloud) — encrypted if you wish.
• No data collection by the developer.

PRICING — FAIR, NO SUBSCRIPTION
• Start free with one class — try ClassTiles in real school life.
• The full version (unlimited classes, tabs, and exports) is a one-time purchase. Data you have already entered is never locked.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.9 — 2026-08-19

This update fixes a bug in the assistant for new grade structures: on some iPads, taps and slider movements were not registered correctly, so no structure could be created.

Feedback is welcome at classtiles@icloud.com.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-08-14

This update speeds up everyday entry and opens the seating plan for hands-on work:
• Quick entry is new: with it switched on, tapping a word or emoji enters the value straight away and moves to the next person. Attendance or homework becomes one tap per child. It stays off until you turn it on.
• You now decide which suggestions the quick picker offers; you can edit them, delete them and return to the original words whenever you like.
• In the seating plan you fill empty seats directly. Tap an empty seat and pick a person from the list. Occupied seats can be cleared again, and someone you move may now land on an empty seat too.
• On the Mac you get the same emoji grid as on iPad. With word-based scales such as 1–6 ±, the quick picker, emojis and the note field are back.
• When you make a backup, the note about where your backups live now sits right below the buttons, and you can export or share a fresh backup straight away.

Feedback is always welcome at classtiles@icloud.com.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-08-10

This update is about names — above all in classes where students are listed by first name only:
• Rows without a last name can now be imported from CSV and PDF, not just added via “Add individually”.
• Identical names are easier to tell apart: matches from other classes are asked about one by one, and “Mark as different” can now be answered for groups of more than two entries.
• Classes carry a school year, chosen when the class is created, which keeps classes of the same name apart in menus and exports.
• “No.” now always means the same position in the list that the grade table shows.
• Deleting a single event out of a series keeps the planning for exactly that event — the other events of the series keep their own. The warning beforehand now also appears when the planning consists of notes only.
• Smaller fixes to name sorting, to the file names of the student data report, and to the line numbers in the CSV import.

Feedback is always welcome at classtiles@icloud.com.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-08-06

This update improves two things:
• Class Tasks now opens straight to the create screen when there are no boards yet — including when iCloud sync is turned off.
• The student data report (JSON and PDF) now also includes the calculated section grades, written exactly as in the tab export.

Feedback is always welcome at classtiles@icloud.com.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-08-04

This update brings more privacy when you switch apps, complete exports and a calmer everyday feel:
• On iPad and iPhone, the card in the app switcher shows the start screen instead of your class data.
• Exports contain the full tab structure, even when sections are collapsed; exporting all tabs gives every tab its own uniquely named Excel sheet.
• Grade entry on iPad makes room for the on-screen keyboard — "Clear" and "Apply" stay within reach.
• In your list of backups, restoring starts from a labeled button in the row.
• Students restored from the trash return to their previous position in the list.
• A student's record shows exactly the values from the grade table, and can be shared as a PDF even before any documentation has been added.
• Also: distinguishable candidates when merging duplicate entries, weighting shown only where it takes effect, correct singular and plural in messages, plus the version and build number in Settings.

Feedback is always welcome at classtiles@icloud.com.
