Not sure why anyone would want to shill for ClayLab, an app that imo is only marginally less ugly than a spreadsheet and has an absurd yearly subscription fee for its “pro” mode which literally has less features than this free app 💀. I appreciate the devs of ClayMade including so much for free and with such a nice UI. ### 5/5 — Just what I need! *2025-01-16* I’m new to pottery and want to track and remedy my failures, and eventually repeat my successes. This app looks perfect as there’s a lot of variables. Nice, clean interface, fairly intuitive and I love the clay shrinkage calculator! I struggled to find where you can log notes on glaze recipes and firing details, but it’s there, you just need to play around with Hard Press editing of each category. I hope people like this and review it so we don’t lose the app. I’d be happy to pay for it as well. ### 5/5 — Does precisely what I need *2025-01-15* Easy to track all my pieces over time. Clean interface, intuitive, solid. Haven’t looked back since I downloaded. ### 5/5 — A couple of bugs *2025-01-15* I find that if I enter a stage wrong I can’t delete the wrong one. I can enter a new one but I seem to be stuck with the wrong one too. I wish there was a way to merge duplicate entries. I find I have one at bisque then mistakenly entered it again as a competed pot. Then I can’t merge the two. At least I don’t know how. Also the the tabs are a little buggy. When I press greenware or any tab that came with the app it works, but if I press a tab that I created, the app crashes ### 5/5 — A couple of bugs *2024-12-21* I find that if I enter a stage wrong I can’t delete the wrong one. I’ve used this app for a while to keep track of my important records, and I woke up this morning to find that it had updated itself without even asking for my permission. I thought I had accidentally deleted something or pressed the wrong button. I spent an hour blaming myself, but then I started reading the other recent reviews and realized it wasn't me at all. **Developer response:** We completely understand your frustration, and we're so sorry for the stress! What looked like missing data was actually a syncing delay from our Cloud update, all data has been recovered. If anything still looks off, reach out through the Help Center and we'll sort it out! ### 1/5 — New Update Locks Features Behind a Paid Subscription *2026-04-03* You used to be able to add unlimited images or your work. Now you have to pay a subscription to add more than 6 progress photos. **Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback! This is the only spot I had all my glaze combinations. ### 1/5 — Update delete all data *2026-03-25, version 1.2.0* Whaaaaat happened y’all?! Was really starting to get into this app. Woke up this morning to see an update. It asked me to sign in- I tried all options and none have any of my pictures or data. :( ### 1/5 — Forced iOS update, now my phone is full - can't undo! *2025-11-06* I downloaded this app and it REQUIRED me to update to the latest iOS version before I could even use it. I didn't realize this would happen until it was too late. Now my phone's storage is completely full from the iOS update and I can't undo it. I've had to delete photos and other apps I actually need just to have space again. Really frustrated and feel like I had no choice in this. Please add a clear warning about iOS requirements! ### 1/5 — Confusing mess. *2025-11-05* I'm a ceramic teacher and pretty tech-savvy, so when I say this app is confusing for no apparent reason, that's saying something. Basic functionality is bizarrely broken. I accidentally entered a stage wrong and now I can't delete it - I'm just stuck with it forever. I tried entering it again as a completed pot thinking I could merge the duplicates, but nope, no way to merge them either. So now I have duplicate entries cluttering everything. The tabs are buggy too. How does something this fundamental not work? **Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback! Stages can be edited directly in Maker Settings via the gear icon, and the tab bugs have since been fixed! We'd be happy to answer any questions, reach out through the Help Center and we'll get you sorted. ### 1/5 — Disappointed! *2024-06-17* I'm new to the exciting world of ceramics and an experienced friend told me of an app that can help me track my progress called Clay??? (I honestly forgot the last part of the name which is a very important part mentioned at the bottom of this review!) So I found ClayMade on the App Store and honestly I was pretty disappointed in a number of things: *Once I opened the categories the app would freeze forcing me to close it. *After restarting the app and then my phone after still encountering this issue, I was sad to see the issue continued and would sporadically continue depending on what category I selected. *When I FINALLY got the app to work I just didn't feel it offered a lot of options I was looking for like there are a limited amount of forms and clay bodies etc. It lacked so many options that I felt like although it gave me the ability to add my own, I was simply offering them intel to upgrade their app with or better yet.... I felt like a complete test dummy filling in data that in my opinion should have already been on there!! I don't know....ClayMade is just not what I'm looking for! **NOW....HERES THAT IMPORTANT PART I MENTIONED EARLIER** So after hours of frustration I decided to admit to my friend that I was partially listening LOL and asked for the name of the app.... ITS CALLED CLAYLAB! So I downloaded it and it made a WORLD of difference! Apparently "ClayMade" is a just sad knock off off ClayLab and it seems the developer is either lazy and/or has no actual experience with ceramics. (Probably just another tech bro trying to make money ripping off an already created and established app!) Sad! Wish I could give it 0 stars! ### 1/5 — Disappointingly Unoriginal *2024-05-16* I recently came across ClayMade and was shocked to see the blatant similarities to an existing app, Claylab, which I have been using for 4 years. Here are a few points that highlight my concerns: Interface and Design: The layout and design elements of ClayMade are strikingly similar to Claylab. It feels like a copy rather than an original creation. Features: Many of the core features in ClayMade appear to be direct replications of those in Claylab, with little to no innovation or unique offerings. As a dedicated user of Claylab, I am disappointed to see such a lack of originality and respect for the work that went into developing Claylab. I recently started ceramics and was just looking for something to keep track of all my pieces in the studio. The app is that and so much more. I love the inspiration board and clay shrinkage features. All with a really easy interface and cute little characters the pop up here and there ### 5/5 — BEST pottery project log/tracker app EVER *2026-05-18* I LOVE this app! I recently switched to ClayMade and can’t say enough good things about the it and Brian, the creator/developer. He went above and beyond helping me migrate my old pieces into the app. The level of detailed automation in ClayMade is such a timesaver. The fact that Brian is constantly making updates and enhancements is not only amazing but also SO reassuring. (The other app I was using was last updated 5 years ago. So, whenever there was a iOS update, I would cross my fingers hope the app would still work.) If you are a potter or ceramic artist, this app is a must. Don’t hesitate, it is 100% worth it. I’m always losing track of which underglaze (or glaze) I used on which piece which makes it hard to duplicate or make matching forms later. This helps with that and with tracking where I’ve boxed up or if I’ve sold work or have it on loan. Only one revision I’d really like to see: allow us to click first or second layer on surfaces (instead of just inside or outside) Thanks for this! **Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback, and a shoutout to your student for spreading the word! We've worked hard to make it flexible for every process. ### 5/5 — Love app *2025-11-18* My only request is that the creators of this app allow a log in and storage to be saved permanently. My phone broke and when I added the app back all my stuff had been deleted and I had to start all over, I would pay a small fee to continue using it if that made a difference. **Developer response:** Thank you for the review and great news, login and cloud syncing are here!
