But it no longer allows you to scan your food to input things not on their plan. Please bring this feature back ### 4/5 — Still good but *2026-07-20, version 7.11.2* I have had this app and loved it for years! The recipe options are phenomenal, the ease of use is great, and the recipes themselves are so delicious, my family and I often return to our old favorites. My one complaint is that with the new update, I can no longer track random foods; it is limited to their specific recipes. Which, for $1 a month, isn’t a huge deal, but now I am forced to use different apps when this one used to cover all my needs. Still my favorite protein to date! It became my all in one. Taking away the bar code scanner is a big loss. I came back to it recently after having a baby, and I’m very annoying by the update that I can no longer scan barcodes or search branded food. This was a useful feature that they took away. But lately I haven’t been able to scan anything to track my food. I use this to help with medication and other stuff I have to be doing. I loved the tracking functionality of the app but that is now limited to cse meals basically and new recipes are rarely added. Believe it or not, I eat other foods than just CSE proteins and recipes. That makes this app only useful for people who literally only consume Clean Simple Eats for every single thing they eat, which is literally nobody. ### 2/5 — Changes *2026-03-16, version 7.8.2* I originally downloaded the CSE app because I was able to input individual items and scan barcodes. In a recent update they took that away and now I can’t scan individual items or look them up. It only offers macros for their own meals or for restaurants. I love their products but I like making my own recipes. I feel like they took away certain features so you are more persuaded to make THEIR recipes. But ever since they changed it to just allow you to track CSE food, I haven’t used it. The new app update no longer allows for regular grocery items to populate automatically you have to add the item and it has made tracking way too time-consuming. Now they only want you tracking their meals/recipes and removed food searching and barcode scanning. The people who developed this app deserve a raise and some kind of an award! I truly love the app! Not only because it has great features like calorie counting and daily planning, etc, but also because it’s veryyyyy reasonably priced, customizable, and very intuitive!
