My kids love getting the badges and were disappointed today that the app didn’t launch. It keeps crashing, I deleted the app and reinstalled but have luck. Can you fix this issue? ### 4/5 — Great but... *2021-03-03* I love clean swell a lot and it motivates me to clean up more trash and not just at the beach, but today I recorded a hour long cleanup with 26 pounds of trash picked up but it wouldn’t log it in. I put it in again and it submitted it but wouldn’t show up. Pls fix soon. 🙏🏻🐬 ### 4/5 — No way to share later *2020-09-28* We had one person doing the days entry while collecting, so we got good data. When we finished and submitted, it asked if we wanted to share. I was not ready and did not. Now there is no way to share on social media or send the data to someone else. My son wants the data for school. Frustrating, but otherwise good. ### 3/5 — Great if it worked! *2019-12-31* I pick up trash EVERY SINGLE DAY. Full bags when I go to the beach/ocean several times a week. Then I log in my “take”. After a couple weeks, the app said I hadn’t registered and was new. Starting over. So my last several pounds of trash didn’t count? PLUS it takes FOREVER for your information to be registered. Today I opened the app and tried to enter the last few collections. The wheel keeps going around indicating it is still “thinking”. Entering information. Frustrating. Happens frequently. Not sure if this will work !!! Wish it would tho!!! ### 2/5 — Won’t let me register *2019-12-18, version 1.8.2* I always get an error when attempting to register/create an account. I was wondering if it could be possible to make teams and have users motivate each other and work together for a goal? some running apps do this and its a great motivator! ### 4/5 — Great app, getting errors *2018-10-17* This app is great and makes cleanups more accessible by providing an easy-to-use interface to record and share data. However, I encountered a glitch where my data was lost while recording yesterday, losing hundreds of recorded items from a multi hour long stretch. Further, I cannot log in to the app today, getting errors stating “Registration error” and “location error”. I would love to have access to my data, and would also enjoy an event by event summary of material collected and total weight to allow for comparison of trash encountered in different places. Otherwise, this is a wonderful app and a great tool to add to any conservationist’s toolkit! ### 2/5 — Lots of potential, a few kinks *2018-09-15* We were doing our cleanup and tracking and everything was going great. At the very end we stopped to look at some ducks at a pond. My phone locked. When I logged back into my phone the app had reset and all of our tracking was cleared!! In other words, it wasn’t saving as went. It only saves at the end when you click “done” and “submit.” It should be programmed to auto-save along the way so data isn’t lost. Then we had to try to remember our numbers and tap them in one click at a time for each category because the app doesn’t let you enter numbers, just clicks. Lastly, it would’ve been cool to be able to see what other volunteers had logged at the end of the cleanup for our location and how many volunteers participated. Otherwise, I liked the interface. It was so easy my 4 year old could use it. It could use a “metal bottle cap” category. There were tons of those. And “metal can tabs” and “plastic bag tabs.” We found lots of each of those. I got a new phone and downloaded the app again, but it will not open after multiple attempts to uninstall and reinstall it. I’ve tried multiple times but nothing happens when I try to submit my information. ### 1/5 — Can’t even register *2021-08-31* I typically never write reviews but I have downloaded and deleted and re-downloaded this app multiple times, restarted my phone and tried every trick possible, but I can’t even get past the registration page. It keeps giving me a registration error... I then tried doing “forgot password” to try anything different to get me into the app but then I received a password error message. I’ve literally tried every possible option but can’t register to use the app. Unfortunately, I didn’t even want to download the app due to limited storage on my phone but I wanted to register for a location for international coastal cleanup day and this was the only option to do that. Now I can’t even register a cleanup site. Really disappointed. :( ### 1/5 — Have to enter as you go or it closes you out *2018-12-29* Really sad. Collected about 30 Lbs of trash at a beach this morning and a stranger came up and told me about the app. Was so excited to try it out I went to a different beach for sunset to do a bit more collecting. It’s too windy and cold to enter each point as I go, and honestly annoying to enter ever lid as I pick it up, so I put my phone in my pocket as i walk and expect I’ll tally my garbage in my garage at home. Was super sad when I got back to the car and found that the app had terminated my collection after inactivity! And you can’t edit the collection after it’s been submitted. I want to participate in citizen science so badly, but the app is going to skew participants away from people like me that hike the beach and collect for fun on the side. I won’t sacrifice my hike to collect data, and I’m a scientist for my job. Field work is messy and inconvenient. An inability to edit your collection after or “be inactive” while you keep your hands warm or your phone away from water diminishes the utility of this app and accuracy of these data. It also said I walked 3.25 miles, and I definitely only walked 1-1.5 according to my Fitbit, which is probably overestimating already. What this app is trying to do is interesting and important, but I’m hoping for improvements ### 1/5 — Cannot create an account *2018-09-10, version 1.6.7* I’ve tried for a week to create an account and all I get is a “registration error” even after updating the app. Useless. ### 1/5 — First time app user. May be the last time. *2018-08-12* I used the Clean Swell app for the first time today. In the middle of collecting items I must have touched something on the app and everything disappeared. Tried to get back where I left off, but couldn’t get back to the screen. Had to start over and estimate litter collection where I left off. When I finished I press the button indicated that I was finished. No history shows on my app and results were never emailed to me. Keeps saying history is being downloaded, but it has over been 8 hrs.
