Find and delete duplicate photos in batches, instead of one at a time. Your camera roll is mostly the same picture, over and over. Fourteen shots of one sunset. Nine of a menu you photographed to remember later. Screen recordings you watched once and never opened again. CleanSwipe finds them and groups them, so one tap keeps the good one and bins the rest. The copies it is certain about — byte-for-byte duplicates, the spare frames of a burst — it pre-selects for you, with the reason written beside each one, and you review the whole batch before anything moves. Everything else you decide a card at a time: swipe one way to keep, the other way to bin. Nothing is deleted until you open the bin, see how many items are in it and about how much space they take, and confirm. GROUPS, NOT ONE AT A TIME The app compares what your pictures look like, not when they were taken, so a hundred sunsets shot over five years land in one place. Pick the good one, bin the rest, move on. Every frame in a group is on screen and you can pick any of them, however many there are. You can look at every item before it goes. Photos with people in them are grouped differently, much more tightly by date, so your kids at four and at nine do not collapse into one pile. The app only asks whether a face is present. It never identifies anyone, and it stores nothing about who is in a picture. FILES TOO Duplicate files, byte for byte identical, with the original kept. Large downloads you forgot about. Point it at a folder and it will tell you what is in there. NO DATA IS COLLECTED No account. No server. No analytics. No advertising. No third-party SDK. Nothing about your photos, videos or files ever leaves the phone. The scan never touches the network; the exceptions are by your own tap — buying or restoring the unlock, opening an Apple help page, and fetching a full-size photo or video from iCloud when you ask to see one that is not on your phone. Put the phone in airplane mode and the scanning, sorting and deleting still work. Every bit of the analysis runs on your device, using Apple's own frameworks. DELETING IS REVERSIBLE Photos and videos go to Recently Deleted in Apple's Photos app, where iOS keeps them for about 30 days. A mistake is recoverable for a month. Which also means the space is not back yet. Recently Deleted keeps taking up room for those 30 days, so an app that reports gigabytes cleaned the moment you tap delete is telling you something that is not true yet. CleanSwipe shows you both numbers — the space back now, and the space still waiting — and walks you through emptying Recently Deleted if you want it back today. WHAT IT COSTS Everything on the files side is free, with no limit and no trial that runs out. Swiping and sorting is free, with no limit. You also get 50 photo or video deletions free, a lifetime total, disclosed before you start rather than sprung on you halfway through. If you want more, there is a one-time unlock. No subscription, ever. It removes the photo cap, makes rescans take seconds instead of minutes, and does the slow part of scanning overnight while the phone is charging, so the next scan is quick. It is shared with your Family Sharing group and it restores on any device signed in to your Apple Account. Anything past the free 50 stays in the bin. It is not deleted, and it is not lost. Swipe through the rest of the group without closing it, and decide right there: the same Keep and bin buttons are at the bottom. Come back out and the group shows what you chose. Tap a photo or file in the bin to see it big, with a Put back button. "Pick up where you left off" now goes straight back to sorting instead of the results screen — and works after a fresh scan, which it did not. The count that climbs while a scan runs is the number of things you will sort, and it climbs through every step — including the long one at the end. Each category on the scope screen says how many photos, videos, or files are in it, not just how much space. Backing out of the system's delete confirmation now stops everything, files included. The bin now survives the app being closed: everything you sent there is still there when you come back. Smart Cleanup shows a picture beside every item, and tapping it opens the item full screen with the same Keep and bin buttons. The home screen says "Start sorting" until you have answered a card, and "See what's ready to bin" once you have answered them all. Larger text sizes: the Keep and bin buttons stack instead of squeezing, group cards scroll instead of cutting off, and the header keeps its glyphs. Swiping between photos in the full-screen view is smooth: the next one slides in already loaded. Swiping cards on the sorting screen follows your finger exactly, and the card behind rises as you go. ### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-11 Picking up where you left off now works the way it should. After you delete photos, the app used to show you the same group again with blank frames where the deleted ones had been. Deleted photos now leave the results the moment they're gone, so the next card is one you haven't seen. If you switch to another app mid-swipe, the card you were on is ready when you come back instead of sitting frozen. The screen stays on while a scan runs, so you can set the phone down. When an image can't be shown, the card says why in plain words. The photo a group is keeping is never offered for deletion, restoring your purchase no longer signs you out when the App Store cannot be reached, and every file is checked one last time before it is deleted. ### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-10 Photos kept in iCloud now show up. If your iPhone stores some photos in iCloud to save space — most full phones do — those came up blank before. They appear now, and the app still works with no network at all. New in Settings: Grouping. Drag it tighter and only near-identical shots share a card. Drag it looser and the same subject gathers whenever you took it, so every sunset lands together instead of scattered across years. Takes effect on your next scan. Undo puts back everything. Undoing a group used to leave one photo behind in the bin: the one the app had suggested you keep. If an image ever can't be loaded, the card now tells you why instead of sitting empty. Deleting is more careful too — the app no longer reports a photo as deleted unless it actually deleted it. Faster, and much lighter on memory, on large libraries. Thank you to the tester who found the iCloud problem. ### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-08 Photos and videos now load properly on large libraries. A group of similar shots could come up blank, and opening one full screen could sit on a spinner that never finished. Both are fixed. Images load faster and use far less memory, and if one ever does fail, the app tells you why instead of spinning. A duplicates card now states its numbers plainly: how many copies you have, how many go to the bin, and which one is kept. It always kept one. Now it says so before you decide. In Smart Cleanup, every photo is now listed by the date it was taken. It used to show an internal identifier, which told you nothing about the picture. The swipe is smoother, and the app has a new blue look throughout.
