Signing up initially was easy. Not its time to make it actually useful by downloading the app, having my face photographed, and uploading my passport. Well since this is an ipad, i’m stuck at the point where the “phone” has to scan a chip in the passport. The ipad doesn’t scan any chips like that. There is no other option but to exit the process. I suppose everything else about the app is nice and accessible. For some idiotic reason, this feature has been removed. ### 1/5 — No clear at airport *2026-08-15, version 4.12.1* Not all airports have clear at all terminals ### 1/5 — Scammed into opening a membership *2026-08-12* When I flew out of SFO I was struggling to find the normal TSA entrance and when I asked a CLEAR employee if they could point me to it they gave a very broad gesture off to the side and promptly asked if I was over 18 and had a valid form of ID. When I told them that I was over the age of 18 and had a valid form of ID they told me that I could enter through the CLEAR entrance. I told them that I wasn’t a member and wasn’t wanting to start a membership as I don’t fly often. They proceeded to tell me that I could go through the CLEAR entrance without a membership for free(which should have been the first red flag). After scanning my ID and taking my photo they told me that it would be $219 a year to keep the membership and that I would need to swipe/tap my credit card, even after this whole interaction started with me explicitly telling them that I did NOT want a membership. I told them again that I did not want to open up and pay for a membership. I unfortunately made the mistake of taping my card and going through after being told by the CLEAR employee that I would not be opening up a membership or charged. A week later a get a $219 charge on my card. Luckily I was able to canceled the membership and refund the charge (refund is currently pending), but I still find it very upsetting and unprofessional that your employees would continue the process of opening up membership after being explicitly told multiple times that you do NOT want to and stating that you won’t be charged when you will be. ### 1/5 — Won’t open *2026-08-05, version 4.12.1* Never installed before- Opens and crashes, deleted and re-downloaded, restarted phone ### 1/5 — Clear is fine, app is trash *2026-08-05, version 4.12.1* While I don’t have any issue with Clear as a service the app is total trash. It says my KTN is expired, yet it doesn’t expire until 2031. And no matter what i do, even if i go outside the facial recognition doesn’t work…. ### 1/5 — Can't even open App *2026-07-29, version 4.11.0* Tried to make my trip to the airport as seamless as possible, but it is NOT completely possible because the app won't even open fully. First time user and I am frustrated by this confusing bug. App automatically crashes after attempting to use. During the guest enrollment process, there was never a place to enter the promo code and get the free pass. It just took the credit card and charged the full annual fee. What a scam! I just kept putting it off. Today when walking into the security checkout. I was stopped by a sales ambassador, Muneer! He asked about how often I fly and explained CLEAR to me. I was instantly sold. He was so helpful and nice! After the signing up process he even walked me to the CLEAR checkout to show me how it works! 10/10 service with Muneer.
